The view of the island was growing more distant and distant behind Leon as he drove away from it, his heart feeling heavy with the fact he left a half of it behind.
Ashley knew what happened, which is why she didn't say anything at first when Leon was in such a hurry. She wondered if their was room for you when you came back to the Jet ski, but as soon as Leon took off, that's when she knew.
"I'm sorry Leon," she finally spoke, breaking the silence between the two. He kept his eyes focused on the horizon, hearing her words amongst the loud engine. "She was a great woman."
"Yeah," he replied, recalling the memories he had of you, "The best."
He quickly forced his mind to push the mourning thoughts aside, recalling your promise he said he would keep. "She made me promise to bring you back home safe, and save everyone I can in her honor."
"Did She say that specifically?"
"Not the honor part, but that's what I plan to do. Save everyone I can in her memory."
Ashley nodded, keeping her mouth closed after that, turning her gaze towards the waters.
Leon thought about your promise over and over again, making sure it was welded into his brain. He was not going to mourn your loss, he was going to honor your sacrifice to save Ashley, to save other people who didn't know her. He was going to protect Sherry, he was going to protect civilians who needed help, he was going to do everything in his power before one day he would join you.
He promised, and he was going to fulfill it. For you.
On the helicopter, Ada placed the sample test tube inside the thick lined case, seeing how it fit inside like a perfect puzzle piece. She lowered it closed, seeing the edges let out a hiss before sealing completely.
"Are you sure about this?" She looked over, seeing the blood drenched dressed woman open her eyes, looking over to her. "Well, its not like I can go back at this point." You responded, recrossing your legs for better comfort before closing your eyes again, letting the winds from the helicopter's blades blow your hair back, cooling your skin.
"Hmm," Ada lowered the case down to the ground, keeping it by her feet. She crossed her own legs, folding her hands into her lap. "What ever happened to 'playing dead won't get you anywhere', hmm?"
You opened one eye, a smile forming on your face. "Do you want to be pushed out of this helicopter?"
She chuckled, sitting back while closing her own eyes. "I'll pass, I think I've had my fun for today."
"You and me both."
A certain light creeped through your lashes, making you raise your head up to see pure sunlight showing through the Helicopter's windshield. The clouds separating gave you a view of what hope looked like for the future, despite your choice being a rather selfish one.
You had to see Wesker.
You had to get your answers. Whether you liked it or not.
Ada's report #5
It wasn't easy, but I'd say the mission has been a success. Getting my hands on the sample was my initial objective after all. But I've sent Wesker a different present, just as the organization ordered. Pretending to work with him was entertaining.
Albert Wesker... I wonder where he's headed next. Something tells me this whole affair was just a taste of what he's got in store. To him, Umbrella represented power. He used it to hide behind while he made plans of his own. And Now the umbrella's been folded.
With the Sanctuary of their old Umbrella ruined, those in power struggle to erect a new one. They are aware of their own crookedness and deceit as they engage in their personal war of light and darkness. That's why Wesker will stop at nothing in opening his new umbrella.
He instructed me to bring along (Y/N) for the ride, even if she declined the offer. Unfortunately, the organization didn't want anything to do with her, seeing her as nothing more than a vital piece in Wesker's game. Wesker knows what happened to her when she was a child, simply waiting for her body to reach full maturity in order to 'properly use her' for his next experiments.
I didn't like the sound of it at first, but I soon discovered what he meant about her. It was in her blood, was all he offered to tell me.
The giant pharmaceutical corporation S maintains medical and drug facilities the world over. We know for certain that Wesker has been in contact with them following Umbrella's demise. There's no doubt we'll next hear from him there. The organization must remain vigilant.
But Wesker's not stupid. He knows exactly what the organization is thinking. He and I still have time to continue our little game of cat and mouse before the next move is played. For now, (Y/N) will be in my care until the time is right to disappear from the picture. (Y/N)'s not stupid, I know she can make the right choices, at the right timing.
The mission may be over, but the battle is just beginning.
