Dear Diary
I actually did go to them during lunch. They were giggling over some stupid notebook and nearly ate it when i came over. "What's he doing here?"whispered the small Trumpet girl to the Trombone girl, who shrugged. "Hey guys,"i said, trying to sound casual. "What's up?" The loony girl eyeballed me suspiciously. "Nothing. What's the matter?"she said cautiously. I gulped and explained really shakily what had happened. The Band Gang's eyes were growing wider and wider, and the loony girl had broken out into a fit of hysterical giggles. "You're in love with the clarinet tutor?"said the Trombone girl in shock and disgust. "That's crazy!!" "Believe me,i know," i said. "I really want to get to know her. Could y'all...help me?" The loony girl raised her eyebrows and the Big Trumpet girl slurped her milo really loudly. "What d'you mean, help?"she said. "Like, set y'all up?" I nodded vigorously. They really do know how to read minds! The Big Trumpet girl looked at the Double Bass girl, who was looking a little scared. "What d'you think,Rathi?" Rathi was about to open her mouth when the dead girl interrupted. "Well, based on the short height, and the doughiness in this area,"she said, poking my stomach with the end of a pencil,"we obviously have our work cut out for us." "Heeey!!!!!"i protested. "That's muscle you're poking, real muscle!!" The dead girl nodded at the loony girl. "
It is quite hard there. Analysis:strong dude." The Trombone girl still looked flabbergasted. "But how d'you want us to help you?"she asked, gripping s pen tightly in her hand. I didn't think about that question. "I-i dunno,"i said nervously. "You-you guys watch crazy dramas on TV,what do they do?" The loony girl tapped her chin and had a lightbulb moment. "We may be able to help you,but on a few conditions,"she said, waving her finger at me. "Just don't make us answer hard questions in class, and dun make us fail during exams. Could you do that?" Should i? I don't know...
"Well,i guess i could do that,"i said nervously. The loony girl beamed. "Alright!! Jian, you're talking your tutor into going for a blind date tomorrow night!! Leave the rest to us!" Jian Huay looked like she was going to faint, but nodded. I then followed them to the studio, where i pretended to look for my 'lost' marker. Then i followed the dead girl discreetly to tuition, where i was in the next classroom, teaching a class of invisible ghosts. (Really i just stood there talking about kinetic energy to nobody.) Suddenly the dead girl came in with the nervous looking Trombone girl. "We're gonna meet Xuan outside the girls' toilet to discuss our plan."she said in her monotonous dead drawl. We rushed to the toilets where the rest were waiting for us. "There you are!!"said Xuan. "Jian managed to talk her tutor into going for a blind date. She's free tomorrow night at 7.00pm. Jian also said she's gonna book a place at DTF for 7.00 sharp." "What's DTF?"asked Rathi. "Only one of the best Chinese restaurants ever!!"replied the small Trumpet girl. "Now,listen carefully,"said Jian Huay, looking a little scared, furious and worried. "We are going to meet at Bedok Mall at 5.00 to get you ready." "But i have worksheets to mark!"i whined. I hated to think what Dave or Booker would think if they knew i was going out on a blind date. "That's where these 3 people come in,"said Xuan, pointing to Jian Huay,Rathi and Yokie, the small trumpet girl. "You bring those worksheets to Bedok Mall tomorrow. These 3 will help you mark them while Diya,Yang,Jo and i get you ready." I was awed. How on earth did they work all this out so fast? "Sure,"i said. "But what sort of things do i say to her?"
"We're working that out tomorrow."said Diya, the big trumpet girl seriously. "Right now we have to go back to sectionals. Ms Siew is coming soon." Just as they turned to leave,i called them back. "Hey!" They turned around, looking impatient. "Can i...have your phone numbers?"i asked shyly.
