Family of Friends

Dear Diary,
I know,the title kinda says it all,and i'm pretty sure loads of people have heard that the Band is a Family of Friends,but it's sometimes a little hard to see because we're so caught up in our daily routine that we ignore this fact.

"Soooooooooo....."said Clarice,beaming widely. Her hands were over my eyes. "Get off Clarice,i wanna see where i'm going,"i whined,my hands trying to pry hers off. "Precisely why we cannot let go. It's a SURPRISE Dad,you aren't supposed to see anything until we get there."said Tetra. That wasn't making things any better. I sighed and decided to go where the wind blew me. "Just make sure i don't-" PANNGGG!!!!
"OOOOOWWW!!!!! DANG POLE!" "SORRY DAD!!!!"

I was surprised i didn't get a bump the size of a doorknob when i slammed into that pole,but i'm pretty sure it took some of my mental sanity away. Clarice and Tetra exchanged worried glances as they whispered something about me blabbering under my breath nonstop.
"Maybe i should do the leading this time."
"No honey,you're going to lead him into a tree or something."
I groaned. How long was this dark trip going to take me? I hate walking without light because it makes me scared and fearful of anything i bump into. This can be thought of in a physical OR spiritual way,because i usually prefer walking through troubles with a friend. And i remembered from the start how i was lucky to have a friend to guide through the blossoming years of a trainee teacher. And how i had found 6 others that made life so interestingly hectic,and how they had spiced my life into something i never thought i would experience. I can now tell people that i survived a not-really-blind date,a cunning colleague,a scheming plan and much more. Not to forget the pole i just hit.

All this sentimental thought was interrupted when Clarice's voice cheerfully announced,"We're here!!" Finally! I couldn't wait to be rid of the blindfold. I could hear whispering and hushing all around me that sent a shiver down my back. "Here we go..."she said,slowly lifting her hands. Light flowed slowly back into vision and i blinked a few times before gawking at the scene in front of me.

"WELCOME BACK,MILOOOOHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It wasn't a dream. It wasn't a dream. It was real. And it was beautiful. Not only the Band Gang and MSB were there in the studio(in school),most of the teachers were there,especially the ones who were not much older than me. "This is-"i gasped,my eyes so wide open my eyeballs probably popped out of their sockets. MSB stepped forward,grinning. "Technically this is a 'Thank you Young People for your Service to Our School' party informally organised by alumni but we made it a surprise for you since you were late."he said. "And we chose it here because it's kinda 'soundproof' so no one will know."added Diya. The Band was there once again,ready to play. "We also figured it's too costly to do those weird radio thingies and it's better for the Band to play for y'all. Eeyy,live music amirite?!"

The rest of the evening was spent eating,laughing over fond memories and choking because i laughed too much. The Band played movie soundtracks and some other songs until about 7pm,where everyone settled on the floor to watch a comedy called Alexander and the Horrible,Terrible,No Good,Very Bad Day. It's a super hilarious and yet awesome movie cos it's a family movie,and watching it with my own family of friends made it so much more entertaining. The Band screamed when the car in the movie was obstructed at a pedestrian crossing near a school by a marching Band. The mother of the main character stuck her head out of the window and shouted at them to move faster,"Woodwinds! Woodwinds to the left!! Faster,faster!! Move it,Woodwinds!!!"
"I see Sousa-kun!!!! There's even a eupho there!! Omigod is that a flute-"
"QUIET XUAN!!"
It wasn't very often you got to see a Band featured in a movie unless it was based on Band itself,and i didn't blame anyone for going bananas because i myself was surprised and pretty excited.
"You shouldn't be,you know."said MSB in a bored voice. "You should expect something like this to happen when you watch family movies like this all the time. Xuan has watched this movie 3 times and she gets hyper everytime this part comes."

After the movie came party games. Diya had succeeded in restraining Xuan from adding Band games into this programme,which made all of us a little grateful. We played Musical Chairs,Human Chain,Guess the Drawing and many more. I personally found the Human Chain game really really fun,because it involved lots of teamwork,and i kinda liked getting tangled up so much it seemed like there was no way out. At the same time,when it seemed like there was no way out of a dilemma or sticky situation,i had friends who reassured me that we would work a way out together,and we did. (This seems like something out of My Little Pony,geez.)

At the end of the party,i helped clean up some stuff,and helped some of the Band members pack up. "You know,we really appreciate any small thing you've done for us man,"said Jo as i helped her keep her stuff,ignoring the sticky slide grease that was leaking from the bottle and running down my hand. "It's no problem,really,"i said,and i meant it. She told me she would be fine and i left. MSB was waiting for me outside the studio,smirking. "Gimme 'five,bro,"he said. I pulled him into one of those-what's it called?-bro hugs instead. He was surprised,but returned the bro hug. "See you."he said quietly,and walked back alone. I smiled,and turned to thank Clarice for the surprise she had given me,and gave her a peck on the lips.
