Wedding Anniversary

MiLoh's POV

Dear Diary,
Today,believe it or not,is Clarice's and my wedding anniversary!!:) Of course,i was actually okay with having the kids around, but MSB insisted that we have it all personal and volunteered to take care of Tetra. EVERY YEAR he does this, isn't he just a sweetheart?:)

The teasing about "being alone for the night" never gets old,and we've gotten used to it. We decided to go to one of those restaurants with the people singing at the side. This was in no way implied towards the Band Gang,but they managed to surprise us pleasantly as always.

So it was about 6.45pm when MSB came to get Tetra and despite his stony expression,had a twinkle in his eye and told us to just enjoy ourselves and not worry about Tetra. He really was starting to open up,which is a good thing, because i hate seeing him coop his emotions up in his big heart and then break down eventually. Clarice and i got dressed in simple but formal clothes and went to the restaurant.

MSB's POV

My role wasn't actually to take care of Tetra as MiLoh was expecting me to do. No,i was planning something much bigger for my best buddy. And as always,the Band Gang has to be involved. I have to make it a point that they have been involved with crazy antics since they were students,and will always continue with their brilliant ideas. Rocky and Tetra were very excited to be involved in this little thing i came up for them. Now let me explain what's going on.

MiLoh and Clarice made their reservation at that restaurant at 7.00pm. Knowing from observation and experience,they will come at 7pm,be brought to their table and admire the atmosphere. My estimated time for my thing would be at around 7.20,when they had already ordered their food and were waiting. So,with all this in mind, once MiLoh left the house i quickly called the Band Gang and we,2 Sec 1s and 6 young women and 1 grown man,dashed to reach the restaurant before he did. The Band Gang,just to be sure,called the entire band and told them to go to the restaurant. "After all,if you wanna perform you need every last instrument present."said Diya,smiling broadly.

We made it just in time and the manager winked at us before letting us in. We quickly slipped into a darker and quiet corner to get ready,and we found somewhere not too obvious to tune,as the instruments had gotten cold and were going to be flat if they didn't blow into them.
"Guys i'm freaking out,"said Rathi nervously,rubbing her bass.
"You guys will be fine."i reassured.
"Then why do i feel like...we might mess up?"said Rocky,shrinking behind her portable drumset. I rubbed her head affectionately.

"Okay,so maybe you feel like you'll mess up. Everyone says they will. It's just nerves. You guys all have this mindset,strangely before performances,that you won't do well. It's all a lie,okay? You guys do great for Limelight,for Open House,for CCA Promo. Don't be nervous! The band is made to perform,not to practise. Now get out there and show MiLoh and Clarice that they are worth your good music."

They all gave me encouraging smiles after my little speech,which also made me feel more confident. They walked out and hid behind the singing people, where we could all see MiLoh and Clarice. I am SO glad that they chose the table slightly away from us. Best view,if you ask me.

We saw them call for a waitress and order their meals,then casually start chatting. We let them chat for a while,before the lead singer looked at me and i nodded at her.
"Alright, thank you for that brilliant song!"said the lead singer. "Right now we actually have a dedication to a very special couple this evening,a...Mr and Mrs Loh?"
We saw them look up in surprise.
"Yes,a Mr and Mrs Loh,good evening! We have a very special dedication for you tonight as a congratulations to your wedding anniversary night! Tonight we will have "Can't Take my Eyes Off You" for the lovely couple here,with a handsome man and an absolutely gorgeous lady! However,we will not be singing,we have a very unique and interesting arrangement by a friend who chooses to remain anonymous,and he tells you to 'have the best night ever,you guys deserve the best!' Sit back,relax and enjoy the show!"

That introduction was really long,and the Band walked out. There was a collective gasp,and i saw MiLoh choke and spit his water all over himself,coughing like crazy. Clarice's jaw had dropped. Rocky was to give the cue for everyone to start,and she looked at me nervously and leaned back to whisper to me.
"What if i-"
"No what ifs,sweetheart. This is the moment. LIVE it. Everyone will start on your cue. And it's up to YOU to start this off with a bang!"i said.
My girl smiled and clicked her drumsticks. "One,two,ONE TWO THREE FOUR!!"

As usual,our wonderful band started off with a good strong note,leaving everyone speechless. It's like time stopped just for us,and we jammed like we never had before. I mean,not we,just them. I stood behind them,tapping my foot to the music and grinning at MiLoh's response to his surprise. Clarice was close to tears looking at her daughter and her other clarinets totally rockin'(excuse this stony pun)it,and at Rocky,who was giving a really catchy beat. In summary,everyone was utterly amazed at our performance.

After the last note was played and slowly faded off,there was a silence. Rocky looked at me worriedly. Then came the applause. The overwhelming applause. Everyone stood and clapped and whooped with joy and admiration,one person even did a finger whistle that was really shrill and loud,and boosted our confidence and happiness. I was so proud of them! Gave them each a high five when they came back behind.

We left the restaurant right after the performance so that everyone could go celebrate or rest. The MC person did mention the mastermind of the whole performance was anonymous,but i got a text from MiLoh:
"Thanks buddy. Will do the same for you someday. Maybe your birthday? You have a song request?:)"
