Third Person view

MiLoh was having another normal day. Then again, what day was actually normal for him? Especially when he was at Bandset Girls' taking care of the Band. He had a new colleague called Steven, and although Steven adapted to his new surroundings much faster than MiLoh, MiLoh still felt the compelling to guide him through the habits of the Band.

"We're going to be having farewell for the Sec 4s who have graduated, kind of like an official goodbye to them before they go to JC or Poly,"explained Mrs Chan to the teachers. "Since there are 4 of us, we are going to be split into the teachers-in-charge of different departments. Mrs Toh and I will be the teachers-in-charge of food, MiLoh and MSB can be in charge of Decor, and Steven will be doing games. Work with each student leader respectively and ensure that everything goes smoothly. Now, here are the students in each department..."

MiLoh had no idea whatsoever how much they could decorate the Band room. Every corner already had something in it and it seemed almost impossible to decorate. However, the genius girls managed to come up with something creative. "Xuan said that they had a photo booth there in the past,"said one of the girls, pointing near the Percussion area. "They also decorated the staircase railing with 'Farewell❤'. We can ask them to come back and teach us, but we would need a lot of materials."

While MSB dug up an old banner that Yang had designed just for the Band, MiLoh got hold of Xuan, Jo and Jian Huay to come and assist them as he still was oblivious about what was going to be done. The rest of the girls blew balloons for the photo booth and for fun, and soon the Band room was littered with golden balloons, when all they needed were 10.

As MiLoh waited for the alumni, he stared in disbelief as the girls blew balloons as big as his head in 3 puffs. "Air speed,"he kept whispering, reminding himself that it was not because they were macho girls but because they practised blowing thrice a week, and it should be a piece of cake to them. In about 5 minutes, Xuan, Jo and Jian Huay came down the staircase and grinned at the girls huffing and puffing away.

"We tied 5 balloons each on a string and put 2 of those on each side of the banner. Then we just hang the entire thing up."said Jian Huay, ignoring thr girls's stares. They were either unaware or not used to the fact that their Principal was helping them with the decor. MiLoh watched uneasily as Jo and another girl clambered onto chairs and stuck large pieces of masking tape to the ceiling to hold the banner secure. They put even more masking tape for the balloons that another 2 girls had tied cautiously on a string. MiLoh thought the ceiling looked all the more unglamorous, and was worried that the tape would rip right off when they tore it off.

After some 3 hours of decorating, the staircase and the photo booth were finally ready. The student conductor practised the song they would be playing for the Sec 4s about a million times, then called it a day.

~Next Day~

MiLoh sprang out of bed. The day seemed to pass on forever until finally, the bell rang and he sprinted downstairs, ignoring all the disapproving looks. Band ended in a flash and the seniors came pouring into the room, all of them near tears as the Band performed the farewell song. The games, he had to admit though, were extremely violent, and did not understand why Steven looked so proud. Dog-and-Bone was the scariest game he had ever played, just watching the girls shrieking and running wildly and tearing at each other was the most traumatic experience he had ever seen.

Before long it was time to cook. The barbeque pits were already set up and the band girls piled charcoal on the pit and started a fire. The glowing orange flames mesmerized MiLoh like a moth drawn to a candle. The food was collected and the cooking started, the girls taking turns to slowly rotate the satay sticks over the aluminium foil. It was tradition to bring some to the conductor, which Diya would look at them with one glance and say "Not cooked!" The poor girls were confused and had no choice but to put the satays back on the fire. Xuan sniggered.
"'Not cooked', she says,"said Xuan, pointing her nose into the air. "Diya has become one of the Joy Luck aunties!" The others giggled nervously and watched the satay intensely, their eyes burning from the hot air.

This was one of the barbeques that even MiLoh was certain the food had been thoroughly cooked, maybe except for a few sticks that Xuan and Yang ate without knowing(but didn't affect them either way). He stole a few sticks of satay and ate happily with his back turned against them, quite obvious that he had stolen their food. Nonetheless, everyone was having a wild time, gossiping about teachers(one of Bandset Girls' favourite topics of interest)and eating.

The time came, sadly, when the BBQ ended and everyone had to clean and wash up. MiLoh watched as the band girls went back, the sky all black, the beautiful round moon illuminating the joy of the Band.

The end(for now!!)
