Chapter 4:An Old Foe

Clarice's POV
Dear Diary,
Yesterday when i arrived at the Band Room,Diya wasn't there yet. I knew something wasn't right because she's always there by the time i arrive. I instantly went out,with Tetra tailing me automatically. "Tetra honey,do you know if Aunty Diya is here yet?"i asked. She nodded. "She and the other Band Gang Aunties and Dad and Rocky and Uncle MSB are at the canteen. I'm not sure what's going on." I took a deep breath and prayed it wasn't anything drastic or tragic.

When i got to the canteen,i immediately recognised the huge group. They seemed to be crowding around Xuan who was awfully distraught. "What's going on here?"i asked. Xuan shook her head and didn't speak,and pointed with a trembling finger towards her phone,as if it was a toxic object she never was to touch. I was kinda confused until Jo took the phone and showed me. I remembered that she had gotten our enemy,Ed Eew's number when she was the DnT Rep. The chat was mostly empty except for a message that,at 12 January 2027,read:
Hi. Do you mind if i meet up with you and the other people tomorrow at the void deck at around 3.00?

Xuan let out one of her famous whines. "I dun wanna have ANYTHING to DO with that git!!!!!"she cried. "I was so HAPPY when he left!!! Why's he coming back?!?!😭😭" I shrugged and tried my best to console the distraught ex-tuba player. MiLoh and MSB both looked darkly at each other. I knew how they felt. I wasn't at the direct receiving end of Ed Eew's nonsense in the past,but i knew how it felt like. "Well the only thing we can do is to meet him and see what goes on."said Jo,shrugging. Male Yang slapped her head with a rolled up poster of Min Yoongi(yeah that girl's weird.) "What is this is like,some trick? I mean i could take my euphonium from the Band Room and Xuan could take her tuba and we can both attack him. Just sayin'." MiLoh looked at MSB really excitedly. Tetra looked like she knew what was coming,my clever girl! "No Dad don't-"she started but MiLoh didn't hear her and almost yelled,"OMG MSB CAN WE REALLY ASK THEM TO BRING THEIR INSTRUMENTS TO ATTACK ED EEW"

MSB looked a bit sceptical. Finally we decided to meet him after all,with Xuan,Rathi and Male Yang with their instruments just in case.

Tomorrow came and before we knew it we were waiting outside anxiously. "Well? Where is that bloke? What if this is really a trick?!?!"said MiLoh anxiously. "It's not." A slightly croaking voice interrupted us. We turned around to see this old guy with hair that was mostly silvery grey,and wearing the exact same baggy shirts and pants from last time. It was our long sworn enemy.

I gasped,and Yokie hid behind me in terror. Xuan growled and gripped her tuba firmly. MiLoh balled his hand into a fist. "We meet again,Ed Eew."he said fiercely. I had never seen him so angry before. That idiot tried to make peace with us. "Umm,everything that happened was in the past so...i take it i'm forgiven? I mean,you and...ferocious-i mean pretty clarinet girl got...m-married...with a ch-child...."i growled too. He didn't even know how much of a pervert he sounded like. He dared to inch forward,past Diya,towards my Tetra and MSB's Rocky. "Nice girl...pretty girl...you are just like your da-" "DON'T TALK TO ME LIKE YOU'RE MY FRIEND OR SOMETHING."Tetra shouted. Ed Eew,who had his arm stretched out to pat their heads(perv)withdrew quickly in fright. "I-" "DON'T 'I' ME. DON'T THINK THAT EVEN THOUGH I'M ONLY THIRTEEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED."she continued to rage. Even MSB didn't bother to stop her. He was staring at her with this really interested look on his face,with his arms crossed. He looked like he was enjoying a good movie. Xuan beamed at her,punching her fist in the air and trying to jump in the air,forgetting that she was still holding on to her tuba and it was weighing her down.

Ed Eee tried to speak but everytime he started Tetra just cut him off. Either Tetra or Rocky. It was amazing. I never knew how brave they were. "I just-" "YOU JUST WHAT? HUH? YOU JUST WANTED TO BREAK OUR PARENTS' RELATIONSHIP HUH???!!! AS MUCH AS THIS SOUNDS WEIRD,MY PARENTS WERE ONLY-what-TWENTY PLUS YEARS OLD?!?! AND A GROWN MAN LIKE YOU PLOT THIS DESPICABLE THING!!!" "No i-" "SHUT UP!! IT'S NOT OUR FAULT YOU'RE JEALOUS YOU DON'T HAVE AN AWESOME RELATIONSHIP LIKE MY DAD AND MY-mom."Rocky paused for a minute,her lip quivered,and MSB's smile faded in an instant. He turned away quickly and,just in case,covered his face with one hand. I swear i heard him sniffle a bit.

In the end,Ed Eew gave up trying to reason with the two. I must say,they resembled their Band Gang Aunties close enough. He sighed and said,"Just listen to me first okay? I know this is the point way beyond apologising. I just...wanted to be a bit thick-skinned." MiLoh raised his eyebrows. "What do you want?"he asked suspiciously. Ed Eew shook his head. "Nothing more-"he started to remind me of Gollum from Lord of the Rings-"than for you to take care of my granddaughter." "Huh?!"i couldn't resist asking. "My granddaughter is coming to this school on Friday."he said. "I....i just wanted to ask that you take care of her when she's here. Let her learn your good ways." MiLoh looked at everyone else. Jo,Diya and Rathi shook their heads simultaneously as if powered by battery. Xuan didn't want to make any form of decision and pretended to 'attend to' her tuba's 'broken valve'. Yang just looked at us blankly and Yokie continued to look scared behind me. I looked at MiLoh,trying to tell him to make the final decision. He sighed. "I can't guarantee anything but-we'll try."he said. Diya looked extremely disappointed and facepalmed,and Jo and Rathi sighed in frustration. Yang merely shrugged and suddenly,Xuan's tuba's valve was 'all better' and she shot up.

Ed Eew actually got down on his knees and walked on them towards MiLoh. He backed away and Xuan took over,shooing him away with her tuba. "Bugger off,and get up you idiot,stop trying to act like Gollum or Dobby."she scoffed,hitting him with the bell of her tuba. He got up and stumbled away,muttering wildly under his breath.

MSB was still looking away. "Hey bro,"MiLoh said gently,walking over to him,"you alright?" He waved his hand at Rocky. "Get her over here,Tetra!"he whisper shouted. Tetra pushed her lightly towards him. "I'm sorry,Dad,I-"she began,but MSB,unable to hold in the sadness much longer,gave a loud,sad yell and fell to the ground on his knees. He was shaking like crazy,and from the back i could make out actual tears spilling from his eyes onto the ground. A few sobs escaped him,and reaching Xuan's ears,she began to sniffle too. "I'm gonna go,i'll leave y'all to it."she mumbled,her nose starting to sound blocked,and stuck her hand in her pocket,and threw a packet of tissue onto the ground. Diya ushered the rest away. I didn't know whether to stay or to go,so i remained where i was. MSB started to sob louder,and Rocky also started to get emotional. "I shouldn't have said anything about Mom,"she wept. "I shouldn't have said anything." MSB pulled her into a hug,both of them shaking tremendously. MiLoh put the packet of tissue into Rocky's hand gently,and told them not to stay there for too long. He patted MSB very gently on the head like the sweet friend he is,and came and took my hand and Tetra's. "We'll leave them for a bit,"he whispered. "Let's go wait in the canteen with the Band Gang,sweetheart." I took a last glance at them before walking away.

Anyways,i think they were okay for the rest of the evening. Tetra said that she managed to sneak over to Rocky's house and meet her secretly,and Rocky said she was fine and so was MSB. He was just quieter.
