MSB's POV

Dear Diary,
I haven't written in a while. I'm a little rusty at it so i'll try.

Today MiLoh decided to drag me to Bandset Girls' because he said he wanted to visit the school and he heard from Rathi that those cleaners in the school were having a mini celebration. March Holidays was never a lot for students:i totally empathise with them when they say the teachers push a stack of homework to them and smile sweetly and go,"Enjoy your break!" Enjoy what? Enjoy doing homework?

Life gets even harder because the Band people still have to come back. For THREE DAYS. I know that the previous conductor Ms Siew wanted as much practice as possible, but wow this was really-wow.

So i think MiLoh forgot about the Band for a while as he pulled me to the staff room to say hi to everyone. People crowded around him and only some asked me how i was, worse:what my name was. Yep,i sure did well in blending in with my surroundings.

Just as we were talking,a loud burst of sound erupted through the school. MiLoh jumped and squealed like a pig. "What was that?"i asked. "Oh,it's the Band."said Dave Chang. "They always have holiday practice." MiLoh recovered instantly and his eyes lit up. "The Band? Oohh me! Come on MSB,let's go see the Band!!" With a hasty goodbye,he dragged me down the stairs once more.

"Dude, what do you think this is,a museum? You can't just run all around the school as if it's your home!"i complained to him. MiLoh rolled his eyes at me(the little jerk!!). "Hush it MSB,you're spoiling the fun."he said. I rolled my eyes at him. He wasn't the boss! But then again,a small hope started in me because i would see Rocky again. Bless her! She has become more and more into the Band these days. I suppose it's the upcoming performance, and everyone is excited, especially the Band Gang.

We ran to the canteen where in a corner, the canteen aunties(minus Xuan) were looking fondly at something. Something big and blasting out powerful music. MiLoh squeaked in excitement as the Band came into view. The canteen aunties and cleaners were tapping their feet to the music, some even dancing. The dude who was the "boss" of the aunties, whom i think is called the OM,was looking at them a little salty. I suppose it was because like,50% of the canteen's tables and chairs had been shifted to make way for the Band. Even so,i could see he was enjoying the beat.

Rocky was really rocking the drum set! Diya kept telling her not to slow down, but to me she sounded perfect. I think the alumni had come back to practise too, because i think this was a combine piece. I could instantly feel that every corner of the school, the empty school, was echoing with the music the Band had created.

Diya then asked everyone to do gimmicks, and this part really made us laugh because everyone seemed so unstable, and they had to wave their instruments while playing. For Rocky and Tetra it wasn't a problem, but the Band Gang was struggling, especially the lower brass and the Double Bass. Everyone whooped when the saxophones blasted out their super cool solo while dancing, and screamed in excitement and partial fears when the tubas got up and put one leg on the chair while rocking this tune that's meant for electric bass. I think everyone was scared that the tubas would overbalance or something and topple over and kill everything in its path.

But honestly,no music sounded better.

Jo's POV

Dear Diary,
I think I speak for all of us when I say my lips and hands were completely numb. We had been doing intensive practice for 8 hours and I was so exhausted,I wanted to just flop off the chair and go to sleep under the canteen table. Of course, that was neither ideal nor comfortable,so I tried my best to stay awake.

Diya wanted us to go through Deep Purple one last time and play without stopping till the end. This song needed a lot of energy and i totally wasn't up for it. But we all didn't dare to disobey the conductor.

We jammed our way through, giving our last blast of energy. I personally think that the trombone solo was super good, and i'm proud of myself and my section. At the last note,we burst through with a jazzy feel, and I felt awesome. I think everyone did after all the effort.

As if this wasn't enough, the moment we had finished the song the canteen aunties and cleaners sprung up from our seats and gave us a standing ovation. Someone even whistled. Then somebody screaming,"TETRA YOU GO" caught my attention. And i knew immediately who had come back. Signalling the Band Gang,we turned to see our 2 favourite visitors beaming at us....
