Chapter 3 (part 2)

MSB'S POV (MSB is "my stony bff" btw)
Dear Diary,
Really really weird that the Band Gang is actually working here. And it's even weirder when one of them is gonna be giving your child band audition. Rocky seems really intent on joining Band. After all,it's where her aunties all went. I kept thinking about the Band audition after i left the class.

"What's wrong with you,man?"asked MiLoh. "You're usually not this fidgety." Was i really that nervous? "I'm kinda...worried about the Band audition."i said. "What's there to worry about? Diya's there,everything will be fiiiine."he said,rolling his eyes at me. But when he saw that he hadn't helped with my anxiety,he clamped his hand on my wrist(bless i didn't hurt it)and dragged me to the staffroom. "Hey Yokie! Could you do me a favour?"he asked casually. She put her red pen down and turned to us in interest. "Yes Senpais what can i do for youuu??"she asked. MiLoh smirked and i knew immediately he was up to no good. "What are you on about,man?!"i whisper shouted at him. He ignored(twisted goot!)and continued,"Would you mind slipping into the Band audition classroom and having a look to see how things are going?" I gasped. Seriously!! I thought rule breaking was well out of MiLoh's system now that we're both dads. Guess not.

Yokie wrinkled her eyebrows. "Um,sure i guess."she said. "You happen to be talking to one of the teachers-in-charge of Band in fact. I'm not on duty today,Rathi is. But i can always do a bit of rule breaking here!!" She gave us a mischievous smile and ran off. I smacked MiLoh hard on the shoulder. "You crazy monkey!! What are you doing,corrupting that innocent child's mind?! Rule breaking was well out of our system!!" He just shrugged. "You can never break too many rules. Besides,i heard a quote from somewhere that

If you follow all the rules,you'll miss all the fun.

Don't be so salty about it!!!" He walked off,leaving me standing there and feeling like he's just one incorrigible bloke. Why would he do things like this? Was he that intent into getting his child into the Band? I was about to go back to my seat to do some marking. I had,like,all the time i had until Rocky's audition ended. But his words echoed through my head once more. If you follow all the rules,you'll miss all the fun. That was true to some extent. I mean,remember how all that crazy stuff happened when they were all still students? I actually led them into Ed Eew's office to search for stuff. I myself,unknowingly,had broken a rule. A million rules,in fact. I sighed and went over to MiLoh,who was waiting for my response. "What you got in mind,eh?"i said with a grin,and MiLoh smiled and slapped my back real hard. "That's what i'm talking!! Come on!!" We hurried down the corridors,and i felt like i had travelled back in time to the time where i was still in school. I was always forced to do this sort of crazy stuff.

We could hear funny noises coming out from the room. Yokie has stuck her head in and entered the room eventually,and we went to peek by the window. Diya was sitting at a table where the percussionists had laid their drumsticks and magazines to hit on. "That's it,just hit as hard as you can. You'd be good for percussion."she said. We caught sight of Tetra and Rocky just sitting there waiting for someone to come. "Darn it! Why isn't anyone helping them?!"MiLoh seemed to share the same thoughts as me. Yokie must've sensed us,because she went over to Tetra and gave her a small mouthpiece. She put it to her lips and started buzzing,which was vibrating your lips to make an obnoxious sound. Tetra was okay,and at that moment Diya went over to Rocky and i paid full attention to my child.

"Let's see how good your arm strength is,eh?"asked Diya. Rocky surprisingly did quite well. Then she went to try tuba. "Ooh i hope she gets in!! I would like to personally tutor her."said Xuan's voice,and we both nearly screamed as Xuan somehow appeared next to us. She smelled faintly of fish and was wearing a greasy apron and rubber gloves. She looked at us incredulously. "Whaat? I've been here for at least 5 minutes already and you only notice now?"she said. I patted my chest to calm my thumping heart as MiLoh took a deep breath. "How's business then,Xuan?"he asked. She sighed and shook her head. "Terrible. Besides you 2,the Band Gang and your 2 kids nobody ever comes to my stall. Guess porridge isn't the 'in' thing anymore."

"Try vibrating your lips. No,that's a bit tight...like this,look."the tuba senior demonstrated buzzing for Rocky and she tried to imitate,but still didn't get it after several tries. She sighed and went to join Tetra. "Well?"asked Tetra excitedly. "I don't know. I think i'm gonna be in Percussion at most."said Rocky sadly. "Percussion is really cool man,don't sound so glum!!"Tetra encouraged her. "Aunty Diya says i have a 90% chance of getting into Clarinet,and a 5% chance of getting into Euphonium and 5% chance of getting into Saxophone." MiLoh raised his eyebrows. "I didn't know my child was so clever!"he said,and i rolled my eyes. "What's a clarinet though? And what's a euphonium?" It was Xuan's turn to roll her eyes. "You daft dimbo!! Clarinet is the instrument your WIFE plays,for Tubal's sake!!!!"she whisper shouted. "And a euphonium is-well-i dun really know how to describe it. Just never ever say it looks like a baby tuba in front of Yang or she'll clobber you with my ladle."

We walked back to the staff room deep in thought. Rocky was going to be in Percussion. I think her mom would've been proud. When we got back,Yokie was already there smiling at us. "Well?"she said. "Are y'all proud of your kids? Tetra is probably gonna be in Clarinet and Rocky most likely in Percussion! Diya's really glad they both have high music potential,because the Band could really use it." MiLoh was about to open his mouth and ask another stupid question when Yokie cut him off. "Yes,MiLoh,they BOTH are accepted into Band."
