Happy Teachers' Day 2!!

Xuan's POV

Dear Diary,
Omg we almost weren't chosen to play for Teachers' Day!! It's one of those occasions that you wait ALL YEAR LONG just to perform for your teachers,because for some reason it's really special. Over the years the band has really made it to the top with their performances,and every Teachers' Day has been really awesome! I was so glad that the "Band is not performing for Teachers' Day" was a rumour. But the best was yet to come.

So we started in the morning doing ACES dancing. And no,the Band Gang and i are way too old to be doing that because it was meant for students. But i just couldn't miss it because it was so much fun,so we(or rather me and Yokie only)danced at the back while Diya and Rathi and Yang judged us really bad.

Then there were class activities. The Band people left early to get ready and change into their outfits. The theme was really simple:Movie Magic. So we just wore T-shirts with the words "Star Wars","Pirates of the Caribbean","Aladdin" or "Beauty and the Beast" plastered across them. We were all waiting nervously backstage as our item was first. Performing twice,for Upper and Lower Sec who watched the concert at different timings,was no joke. But we were determined.

Soon,8.45 came and the Band leaders were getting ready to go onstage and announce the first item. Everyone had never been more tense. I was sure it was because they wanted to do really well for their teachers.
"Guys,everything's gonna be fine. These 3 songs are super attractive,and we're gonna blast it cos we're BSGSSB!!"i said. Some of them nodded and smiled. Yes,i seemed quite lame.

"Good morning teachers and fellow students,we are LiuYi and Samantha,the 2 leaders of the BSGSSB Symphonic Band. The band will be performing 2 pieces for you under the baton of our conductor,Ms Diya. We hope that you enjoy the songs we have prepared for you,and have a wonderful Teachers' Day!!"they said enthusiastically before going to their seats. I could see everyone's eager eyes looking hungrily upon us,and came in bravely and proudly at the first note of our "Movie Medley".

Of course,no one can forget to play "You Raise Me Up"because that song was practically made for Teachers' Day. The song was so melodious and expressive,and i felt so proud of the Band. We could see teachers beaming at us with gratitude and pride,the female ones starting to tear a little,and everyone absorbing every note and every beat. This was easily anyone's favourite song,as it conveyed a simple but touching meaning that made people cry. I almost teared up myself,but that would have made my notes all horrible and shaky,so i controlled myself. When we lifted the last note off the scores,a standing ovation rained over us,teachers and students hooting and screaming for us. How proud could i possibly get eh?

The concert went on with a little games section i was rather fond of,as it showed young pictures of teachers and we had to guess who they were. This was super easy for us,and we giggled when everyone got stumped at the pictures of Rathi and Yokie. They were holding their instruments in the photo,and Yang slapped a hand over my mouth when i started squealing and giggling. Everyone was super surprised when the answers were revealed,and Yokie blushed.

After the other Performing Arts CCAs did their amazing pieces,the emcees went onstage to announce the ending of the performance. Well,not quite the ending. ;) we had a surprise up our sleeves.

"Sadly,we have come to the-" "S A TUR DAY NIGHT!! S A TUR DAY NIGHT!!!"we screamed,interrupting them and ran up,some on the stage and some below. The emcees stared at us in disbelief,but then got into the atmosphere. We played our all-time famous "Saturday Night" and got the people all hyped up once more. This song,i could say,easily outdone  everything else,as everyone either stared in awe or moved along to our gimmicks and awesome beat. This was definitely going to be the song etched in all their minds.

What made it even better was that when we finished our song,we all noticed MiLoh and MSB standing at the back,whistling and clapping with all their might. It was really heartening to see them so happy,and usually when people are happy it makes me happy too. Teachers' Day ended with a bang and i must say that today was extraordinarily awesome,but there was definitely better to come.
