Happy Chinese New Year!!!

Dear Diary,
Happy New Year to all!! I'd give all you readers angbao but i'm kinda broke cos i have to give to 8 people in total so yeah.

Clarice and Tetra were both jumping on the bed in the morning. "WAKE UP POPS!!"they shrieked. ""IT'S CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!!!!" I have no idea why they love this time of the year so much,but i had to drag myself out of bed anyways.

I got dressed into the new red shirt Clarice got me. It was really bright,i almost got blinded by my own beauty-NO MILOH YOU DO NOT. So i got dressed,and almost died cos Tetra looked adorable in her new dress,and Clarice looked so elegant in hers. Then we went to MSB's house to wait for him and Rocky,and head off to Clarice's parents' house.

Rocky had insisted on wearing pants,and MSB couldn't do anything because he didn't know what a dress was,and Clarice was too busy to help her. I kept blushing when we were at their house,it was so WEIRD because we rarely had time to see them,yet for some reason Tetra was super close to Gonggong and Popo.(chinese for grandpa and grandma) They treated Rocky like a granddaughter just as well,and MSB kept secretly apologising to me for the fact that Rocky was now also calling them Gonggong and Popo. The 2 lucky kids got their angpaos,and Clarice and her parents kept laughing at me and MSB because obviously,we didn't get angpaos. Talk about parents and child.

Then we just spent the whole day at the Band Gang's house,watching Xuan go completely high on pineapple tarts. She just kept bouncing off the walls and almost got Rocky into it. "Percussionists need dat ENERGEH MAH FREND"she screeched,rolling on the sofa until her hair was a total mess. Tetra rolled her eyes. "Unless you wanna tear a hole through the bass drum then maybe yes."she said quietly,and Rathi smiled affectionately. She got up and pulled Xuan off the sofa,dragging her to the dining table. "Ok,now sit straight and be a good girl,Xuan. You wouldn't want to be a disgrace to the tuba section,would you?" Xuan gasped and shut up immediately.

We did lo hei,which is a traditional Chinese "salad" thingy that everyone does every year. It's super fun,but personally the mixture of sweet,sour and funny textures was not much to my liking. (Author's note:anybody here who still eats only the crackers in the lo hei? Just me? Ok.......) I almost died by choking because i laughed so much at this story thingy Xuan told us. She said someone once tossed the lo hei into the air literally because the higher it goes,the more luck and prosperity will come to you. Honestly,i'd be surprised she hasn't tried to do that.

AND THEN Yokie and Xuan persuaded us to watching 孙悟空三打白骨精(Sunwukong fights the White Bone Demon). It's a super nice show,according to them,but it can get kind of scary. Especially when she sucks the soul out of people. Literally. She's pretty,but she's so deadly that you're just frozen stiff. Also,i was never a fan of the Monkey King. I mean,i thought he was ok to a certain extent,but he seemed a bit full of himself sometimes. Oh well,i can't reach his level so i won't say anything. Yokie and Xuan both blabbered on and on about 西游记(Journey to the West). Even Yang did a short comic about it. I never really expected them to memorise the whole book,because it's super long,and super boring to people like me. Maybe that's why Xuan fails maths all the time.

Through the movie Yokie and Xuan kept screaming out to 唐僧(the monk in the book)to not be so gullible and innocent,because he kept getting tricked by the 白骨精 and that led to him having a falling-out with 孙悟空. (Of course they made up after that.) Diya and Rathi seemed somehow absorbed into it(they turned on english subtitles because they and Jo can't speak Chinese)while Jo and Yang slept. On the whole,it was an interesting CNY but spending it with family was more than i could ask for.
