Fire Drill

Tetra's POV

Dear Diary,
Today while i was coaching the sec 2 clarinets,this crazy bell went off. It was the fire alarm,and i reassured myself over and over again that it was NOT Aunty Xuan setting the science lab on fire again. I immediately ushered everyone i could see to the field,where there was indeed a crowd there.

The Band Gang Aunties were also there,making sure all CCA members were accounted for. It was kinda funny seeing the school librarian,photocopy aunty,fish porridge aunty and band conductor getting frenzied about other girls who were not in Band. "Aunty Yokie! What's going on?"i asked. Aunty Yokie shrugged. "I dunno! I was helping the trumpets and suddenly the fire alarm went crazy. I swear it wasn't Xuan,she was helping the tubas."she said. Aunty Jian-i mean Ms Ong stepped in front of us with a megaphone.

"Thank you all for assembling here on such short notice. I am aware that it is after school where all your CCAs usually take place,and i am to inform you that this is not a drill." I could hear at least a thousand different confused conversations going on. This wasn't a fire drill? Was there really a fire in the school? If yes,then where was it? What Ms Ong didn't notice,but i did,was Aunty Xuan leaving cautiously to investigate. I ran after her. "Aunty Xuan! Let me go with you."i said. Aunty Xuan paused for a while,and told me to move along quickly.

"Try and smell the smoke. If you feel heat tell me immediately."said Aunty Xuan sharply.(Note to readers:please do NOT do this if there is ever a fire drill/real fire in your school. This is fictional.) "Yes ma'am." A monotonous voice startled me and i jumped and saw Uncle Yang. We scanned the place,until Uncle Yang pointed at the science lab. Thick black plumes of smoke were billowing out of the science lab. Aunty Xuan sighed. "It had to be the science lab again. What explosion now?"she complained. "We covered our noses with wet tissues that Aunty Xuan had and went upstairs. Luckily,we could not feel any heat and knew that the fire had been extinguished. We tried seeing through the smoke,but it was way too thick and decided to try and shout for anyone inside. The science lab assistant did,coughing and coughing with her eyes watering,and a science teacher from Aunty Xuan's time,apparently called Nick Lee,came out.

"What exploded this time?"said Uncle Yang. Nick Lee coughed a bit more,then replied,"Nothing. Doing...experiment....and bunsen burner....went...crazy..."Uncle Yang rolled her eyes. "Seriously? I think you should know better to check the thing before you light it. This is like,the fifth time things have blown up in school,and it all happens in the science lab." Aunty Xuan was checking on the poor assistant,who seemed to be extremely traumatised.

Luckily she wasn't hurt,and neither was Nick Lee. Both me,Uncle Yang and Aunty Xuan strolled back to the field where people were starting to be dismissed back to their own respective venues,excited to tell the other Band Gang Aunties about our new adventure.
