When In Baguio

I take a deep breath to inhale the fresh crisp air of the City of Pines. To some, Baguio may have lost its charm with the traffic that now congests the city but not me.

For me, when you find the right spot for you, you can still definitely enjoy what Baguio offers best, cool air, pine trees and beautiful flowers that clears the mind and rejuvenates the spirit.

Out here on the balcony of the cottage we are staying in for the night, where I find myself in my peaceful lonesome, I take out the ring you gave me from my purse, still in its velvet lined box.

I stare at it and sigh dreamily as I lean on the balcony rail, holding the ring in both hands, before looking up at the moon above.

"Yes na ba?" I hear your low voice suddenly speak from behind me.

"Ay! Anak ng kamote!" I exclaim in my surprise as I clutch the box and ring tighter in fear of dropping it to the dark grassy ground below. "Ano ba?!"

"Aray!" You yelp as I smack you right on the chest after turning to face you. "Sakit nun ah!"

"Ikaw kasi eh! Bakit ka ba nanggugulat? Eh kung nahulog yung singsing?! Ang ganda pa naman. Paano ako sasagot sa tanong mo?" I rant while you stand there watching me with an irritating silly grin on your face.

"Yes. Sasagot ka ng Yes." You grin even wider, I fear your cheeks will rip.

"Tse!" I say hitting your arm. "Feeling mo." I roll my eyes at you and cross my arms over my chest while clutching the box in one hand.

"So hindi yes?" You pout.

"Akala ko ba no pressure?"

"Oo nga pero pwede naman mag-suggest di ba?" You grin.

I can only chuckle. "Ewan ko sa'yo." I turn my back on you and lean against the rail.

You walk closer to me and slip your hands around my waist then hug me from the back. You rest your chin on my shoulder and nuzzle on my neck.

"Biro lang. No pressure talaga. Hihintayin ko na maging handa ka sa sagot mo yung siguradong-sigurado kasi pag um-oo ka, hinding-hindi na kita pakakawalan. Ever." You kiss my shoulder and pull me closer.

"Thank you for being patient with me. It's just... three months pa lang tayo..."

"Wala naman sa tagal yun di ba? Nasa tindi ng pagmamahal. At mahal na mahal kita."

"Ibig bang sabihin hindi kita mahal dahil hindi ako makasagot?" I sigh.

"Hindi ganoon. Alam kong mahal mo ako. Di ba?"

I turn my head slightly to face you and touch your cheek. "Oo. Mahal kita nang sobra."

"At mahal na mahal kita nang sobra-sobra." You smile and rub your nose on mine.

"Bakit kailangan doble-doble?"

"Kasi ganoon. Yung pagmamahal mo sa akin doble nun ang pagmamahal ko sa'yo."

"Di ba unfair yun?"

"Hindi. Kasi competitive ako. Di mo ako pwedeng malamangan dun kahit saan pa tayo makarating sa relasyon na ito, I will always love you more and more and more and more." You whisper each comparative word with a little rub of your nose on my left ear.

"Pauwi ka na?" I ask.

"Oo. Kaya dumaan muna ako dito."

"Ingat sa biyahe."

"Ikaw din bukas." You say, snuggling behind my ear. "Mami-miss na naman kita."

I laugh softly. "Isang gabi lang kaya."

"Kahit na. Miss kita palagi." You say hugging me tighter. "Alam mo, may tinitignan akong property dito for lease. Malapit lang posibleng matayuan ng isa pang branch ng Concha's."

"Oo nga. Nasabi mo na yan. May katabi ba yun? Tatayuan ko ng McDo." I laugh.

"Pambihira. Kokompetensiyahin mo pa ako eh."

"Hindi kaya. Magkaiba naman yung mga sine-serve natin. Ang tawag dun, oligopoly. Ido-dominate nating dalawa yung food service market dito. Magiging monopoly din yun pag mag-asawa na tayo kasi..."

"Magiging mag-asawa tayo?!" You gasp and grin widely. "Ikaw ha... Ye-yes na yan. Yes. Yes. Yes." You chant while tickling my side.

I giggle and turn to face you. I smile up to you and let you lean your forehead on mine. "I can't say na hindi ko naiisip yun. You're a good man, RJ. I'm sure you'll make a great husband."

"Say Yes and I'm YOUR great husband." You smile.

I giggle. "Ang kulit."

"Baka sakali lang naman." You chuckle.

"I'm just not sure if I'll make a good enough wife for you." I sigh. "Yet."

"You'll be the best, Love. You ARE the best. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. You have to stop doubting yourself." You say, gently caressing my cheek.

"I know, Love. And I will like I did before. Kaya pa ba?" I ask.

"Maghintay? Umunawa? Magpasensiya? Magmahal? Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. At Oo pa." You answer with a kiss on my forehead, eyes, nose and lips after every affirmative response.

We quietly stare into each other's eyes with smiles on our faces as you gently caress my jaw and neck. Our bodies sway in a silent music that only our hearts can hear under the twinkling stars and cool embrace of the soft breeze.

"I love you." I whisper.

"I love you more." You whisper back before leaning in to kiss my lips slowly and thoroughly as we continue to move to the quiet dance of our hearts. 💛
