March 2, 2018, 11:50pm:

"Halika na, anak. Baba na tayo." Nanay said gently.

"Kayo na lang po, Nay. Dito na lang po ako sa kotse. Matutulog na lang po ako." I told her. I was not really in the mood of socializing with her kumare at that hour on the eve of my birthday.

"Ay! Hindi, anak. Malamok dito."

"Nay, naka-aircon po." I said.

"Io-off ko. Sayang sa gas." Tatay cut in.

"Bakit po? Magtatagal po ba?" I asked.

Nanay looked at her watch and seemed to be getting impatient. "Nicomaine Dei, halika na. Wag makulit. Naghihintay ang Ninang mo."

"Ninang? Wala naman po akong kilalang Ninang ko dito." I said.

Nanay then looked to Tatay as if asking for help.

"Nasa abroad kasi yun. Ngayon lang umuwi at gusto ka makita. Since kasama ka namin at nandito kami sa Maynila eh dumaan na tayo." He explained.

"Ah okay po." I told them but there was something about the way they looked at each other that made me think that they were hiding something from me.

I went with them anyway, it's not like I have much of a choice. I fixed myself a little. I'm not about to meet my Ninang for the first time with an oily face then Nanay insisted, I retouch my lip tint and fix my hair.

We all walked to the gate together. Ninang's place was on the upper part of Antipolo. The air was cool given the current climate in our country. It was away from the highway and very quiet. We went inside and I was impressed by the beautiful garden which was dimly lit by solar lamps.

"Tuloy lang daw tayo sa loob. Bukas ang pinto." Nanay told us. So after a few knocks out of respect, she opened the door.

The house itself was a big two-storey home which was painted white and black with minimalist architecture and interior design.

"Nice taste, Ninang." I thought. It was slowly becoming my dream home realized. "Makopya nga to."

"Parang wala naman pong tao dito, Nay." I observed as we crossed the foyer, living room, dining area and kitchen, which I looked at approvingly as if I hand-picked all the furnitures and decors myself, to the back sliding door that I assumed would lead to the backyard.

"Nasa likod daw sila, anak." Nanay informed me as her hand sets on the beige curtains that covered the sliding glass door.

She looked nervous and so did Tatay. There was a pregnant pause before she pulled the curtain to reveal the glass sliding door.

"Ang weird ng Nanay at Tatay ah. May utang ba ang mga to kay Ninang?" I asked myself.

The backyard was even bigger than the front and I felt myself hold a breath for a few heartbeats. I was mesmerized and jealous at the same time. I didn't even realize I wanted a place like that for myself until I saw it with my own eyes.

From where we stood on the back porch, the end of the yard which has an infinity pool with hot tub looked like it was on the edge of a cliff. The high metal see-through fence secured the property but allowed for a complete and amazing view of some trees and the city lights beyond.

"Ang ganda naman dito." I whispered.

"Nagustuhan mo ba, nak?" Nanay asked. "Ganda ng pool noh? May pa-bonfire pa doon." She said and pointed to the left side of the lawn before the pool where a small bonfire pit surrounded by a circular stone bench was placed.
