EH YUNG HINDI NAMAN TAYO ULIT

December 26, 2017, 10pm, Tokyo:
December 26, 2017, 8am, Miami:

It was finally our last night in Tokyo. This time tomorrow, we'll be back home and the next day, it will be back to work for me.

I sat on the bed as I fixed my things and packed them, remembering how you were so efficient when you did that for me and everything fit perfectly in the bags even if I may have over-shopped.

I sighed and slumped back on the bed. My hotel room still a clutter of clothes and shopping bags that needed to be sorted and packed. "Lahat na lang, RJ. Lahat na lang nagpapaalala kay Menggay. Ano na?" I closed my eyes and rubbed my temples then checked my watch. "Gising na siguro siya. 8am na eh. Tanong ko lang ulit kung paano nga ulit yung ginagawa niya pag siya nag-eempake para sa akin."

I blindly felt for my phone which I knew was somewhere on the bed above my head and dialed your number but you did not answer. I tried a few more times but still didn't pick up. I felt a sudden surge of disappointment, anxiety and anger. Why won't you answer your phone?

"Malamang busy di ba? Ikaw lang ba ang tao sa mundo niya? Ikaw lang? Eh ni hindi nga kayo ngayon di ba? Tapos aasa kang sasagutin ang tawag mo agad?" I scolded myself. "Paano nga kaya kung busy na siya sa iba?" I asked myself with an unbearable pain in my chest.

"Tangina! Don't overthink! Wala yun! Wala!" I sat back up and sighed. "Sana wala." I then turn my attention back to the task at hand. "Patulong na lang ako kay Riza o kaya kay Ate April." I decided and got up. I walked to the door and was about to open it when the doorbell rang.

"Room service." A woman's voice with a very thick Japanese accent spoke.

"Room service? Wala naman akong inorder. Baka sina Dad." I shrugged and opened the door.

My jaw instantly dropped in a suspended gasp and my heart stopped when I did because standing at my door in this cold night in Tokyo clad in a black coat, turtleneck shirt and jeans with hair tucked under a newsboy hat is YOU.

"Hi." You smiled. "It is colder here than I expected." You grinned.

And I just stood there motionless and speechless as I gaped at you. I wanted to hold you so bad but I seemed to be frozen in surprise. I wanted to say something but I couldn't find the words. We stared at each other for a few seconds without a word spoken, you with an expectant smile and me with a stupefied borderline dumb expression on my face. It was you who broke that agonizing silence.

"You're obviously surprised. Which is why I am here... to... uhm... surprise you. Maybe I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry. I should've called but... yeah... Alis na ako." You said.

Your last sentence finally snapped me out of my dumbfounded trance. You waved shyly and turned to leave but I was quick to catch your wrist.

"Meng..." I called your name like a question... no, a prayer. I said it like a prayer to the heavens to make everything be real.

You turned and faced me then smiled. "Hi, RJ." You twisted your hand from my grasp and held my hand with your cold gloveless one. You were real.

"I'm sorry. Sobrang nagulat ako. I didn't even think you were real." I explained with a breath held in my chest and my eyes glued on your lovely face. You looked even prettier than I remembered.

"Ano ako? Aparisyon?" You giggled. "Ikaw lang yun." You smiled and poked my nose gently then again with more force, squishing it a little. "Is that real enough for you?" You smirked.

I chuckled. "Definitely real. Kulit pa rin." I grinned. "If you kissed me first, malamang hindi totoo." I laughed rather awkwardly.

"Bakit naman?" You asked.
