Making Up For Last Night 

Chapter 66

Moana's POV

The next day... about two in the afternoon...

  I was so wiped out from yesterday that I'm only just waking up now, though I'm not the only one who appears to have been wiped out. Maui's still asleep in my bed as we speak. He's snoring like crazy and is in the funniest position in bed. His legs are twisted in a knot like a pretzel and his left arm is hanging off the bed while his right arm is clutching the spot where I was lying down just moments ago. I'm going to let him sleep. Both of us have the day off today and I'd hate to wake him up just because I'm eager to talk. In fact, I'm going to make us lunch. It's the least I can do for him. I feel bad for how I acted last night. It's not Maui's fault that he got screwed over during his shift at work nor is it my fault that I've been tormented at work. 

  I'm making Maui and I some ham and cheese sandwiches, two for each of us. I'm going to wait a little while before eating mine. I'm going to try my best to wait until Maui wakes up before I start eating them. 

An hour later...

  A sleepyhead Maui comes downstairs into the kitchen yawning every few seconds. I shake off my nerves and go over to him. "Hey Maui." He gives me a gentle smile. "Hey princess. How long have you been up?" I return his gentle smile with one of my own. "Only an hour. How'd you sleep?" "I slept good." An awkward silence looms over us for a moment before I break it. "Maui, listen about last night... I was being selfish. It wasn't your fault that you got screwed over at work. I'm really sorry if I made you feel guilty for not coming home early and having supper with me." He puts a hand up to stop me from speaking any further. "You had every right to be disappointed princess. I promised you that we'd eat together and I let you down. If anything, I'm the one who should be sorry."

  I wrap my arms around Maui from behind, giving him a loving hug. "Maui, you're too good to me. You did nothing wrong. I get moody at times and take it out on others. Plus it doesn't help that it's my time of the month." Maui smirks at me. "Time of the month you say? I didn't notice." I roll my eyes and nudge him playfully. "Oh hush. You can be just as moody at times." Maui gasps. "Me moody? Why I can't believe this. I'm a saint." I snort. "Yeah okay." He playfully glares at me and puts his hands on his hips like I often do when I'm in a sassy mood. "I admit that I'm stubborn at times but I am a very good man. Admit it. At least I'm not trying to get in your pants like most guys do right at the start of the relationship, even though we've been dating for awhile. I want to wait until marriage. Very few guys nowadays do."

   I move closer to Maui, stroking his arms gently. "Maui, you're better than any other guys out there. I know you're the best guy in the world, especially for me. You know I'm just messing around with you right?" Maui grins. "I know. I just like to embrace my inner diva from time to time." Maui does a dramatic hair flip, sending me into a giggle fit. "Maui, you're so silly." He chuckles himself. "I know. I just do it to make you smile." I smile lovingly at him. "Well mission accomplished. Oh by the way, I made us sandwiches. I figured you were hungry." Maui grins at me. "I'm not hungry, I'm starved. Let's eat!" I give him the two sandwiches I made for him and then grab the two I made for myself. We eat in a peaceful silence before freshening up a bit. "Maui?" "Yes Mo?" "I know half the day's already over but I want to go out for a bit. I'm having a bad case of cabin fever. Are you up for going out?" He nods. "I'd love to go out. What'd you have in mind?" 

  I take a moment to think about what I'd like to do. "How does going to the park for awhile and then grabbing supper and ice cream afterwards sound?" Maui smiles. "That sounds perfect darling." My heart melts. He doesn't call me darling that often but when he does, I'm a puddle of feels. "I'm going to drive though if that's okay." Maui smiles. "That's fine by me. I'm all driven out from my deliveries last night to be honest." I giggle. "I bet. Just sit back and relax in the car." We grab our phones, wallets, chargers, and some waters to take with us for the rest of the day before we get into my car and head to the park. 

Fifteen minutes later...

 We arrive at the park where we go to our favorite spot and lie down on the grass. Maui and I go from being next to each other to me lying in his arms just like we were in bed last night. The close contact causes to the heat to rush to my cheeks as usual and all of the tension in my body to disappear. All Maui has to do is hold my hand for my stress to decrease and usually disappear all together. It's like he's magical. I look up and study his body, noticing that he's wearing the fishhook necklace I bought him back in high school. "Maui, I haven't see you wear that necklace in so long. I honestly thought that you'd gotten rid of it..." He looks at me seriously. "I'd never get rid of anything you give me, though I did lose it for awhile. I was going from some boxes of my old stuff recently and found it. I plan on wearing it again more often." 

  The thought of Maui wearing that necklace more often puts a smile on my face. I'm glad that he found it. Deep down I knew that Maui wouldn't get rid of anything that I've gotten him over the years. I should known that he probably just lost it for a little bit. He tends to do that. Maui's not a slob but his organization skills could be improved. Hopefully I can help them improve throughout our relationship. 

  Before we know it, the sun is beginning to set, indicating that it's about to get dark. I love the park but not at night. All the wackos come out to play at night. Maui and I grab supper at Cracker Barrel, which I haven't been to in awhile. Afterwards, we grab ice cream at Dairy Queen, through the drive thru though. When we get home, Maui and I lounge around in the living room watching some reruns of Big Bang Theory for awhile before getting ready for bed because both of us sadly have to work tomorrow afternoon into the evening. Though short, today was nice. It made up for last night.
