Chapter 83

Maui's POV

 The next day...

  Mo and I texted each other before bed last night and decided to wait until today to tell everyone the news of our engagement. The usual gang along with Anna, Kristoff, Elsa (whom we don't know too well but look forward to meeting), and her parents. We're all going to meet up at... you guessed it Olive Garden for dinner. Her parents are treating Mo and I but everyone else has to pay their own way. It's both nerve wracking and exciting at the same time. Mo and I are meeting up for a little while to ease our nerves before we face the rest of the group. We're going to take a little walk on one of walking trails on campus. 

  Half an hour later...

   I took a quick shower, brushed my teeth, and got dressed. I grab my phone, car charger, and my wallet, heading downstairs to get Mo. I know I tend to get her most of the time but it just seems like the gentleman thing to do. I knock on the door and Mo opens it quickly, once again taking my breath away. She's wearing a peach colored maxi dress with a pink and white flower crown on her head. Her hair is hanging down in waves. Waves suit her hair. After all, she's practically the daughter of the ocean. Mo looks up at me and laughs. "Maui, I'm worried that if you keep being speechless, you might run out of oxygen and I really don't want that." I blush and cough awkwardly. "I have no idea what you're talking about princess." She playfully rolls her eyes at me. "Suuuurreeee you don't." 

   I playfully roll my eyes back and grab her hand, leading us to the walking trail so we can talk for a little while in private before having to break the news of our engagement. Mo and I walk about halfway on the trail when both of us are practically gasping for breath. "Want to talk a break Mo?" She nods. "I thought you'd never ask." I chuckle despite being out of breath and gentle lift her up in my arms, cradling her as we sit down on a giant rock. Mo looks into my eyes before they flicker to my lips. Mine do the same to hers. "Mo, are you sure that you want to tell everyone about our engagement so soon? I want to make sure before we go through with this. I understand if you're not ready to because the truth is I'm nervous as hell about telling everyone, especially your parents." 

  Mo takes my hands in hers and gently squeezes them. "I think they will be shocked but they'll support us no matter what we do in life. They love me and they also love you. Maui, you're the only guy you've given their blessing to be in a relationship with. Even long before we started dating, they'd constantly talk about us ending up together eventually. I remember thinking it was a crazy concept at first because I didn't want our friendship to be ruined, but I've known for over a year now that us dating, now being engaged is so right." I press my forehead against Mo and pull her face to mine, pressing a gentle but passionate kiss on her lips. "I love you so much", I say to her in a rather husky voice. She's taken back by the huskiness in my voice but smiles from ear to ear. "I love you too Maui. We've got this. Everything will be okay regardless of the varied reactions we get from our friends and my parents." 

  I nod in agreement and we get up from the rock and finish our walk. We then head back to our dorms to freshen up a little bit more and meet back up at Jack and I's dorm with the troupes. I'm going to be driving the guys to Olive Garden and Mo will be driving the girls. Mo's parents will be meeting us there. Jack and Flynn notice how nervous I am and watch me with concern in their eyes while Kristoff winks and grins like a dork. I swear he better not beat me to the punch. I like him but this is Mo and I's big announcement, not his. He'll get his time eventually with Anna. 

Half an hour later...

  We get to Olive Garden and Mo pulls in behind us with the girls in tow. Her parents are sitting on a bench by the entrance. We all reunite and meet up with Mo's parents, introducing them to Rapunzel, Flynn, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff since they aren't too familiar with them just yet. I'm sure that by the end of dinner, they'll practically be part of the family. It's funny to be honest. My family is practically growing by the week. Mo's parents greet everyone warmly before pulling me in for a hug. "Maui, it's always nice to see my boy." I blush slightly at that. As you know, I'm not used to having true parents. I'm sorry for repeating myself, I know that my sob story is a tale as old as time. It's still an adjustment period for me. 

   All of us getting seated quickly and put in our drink orders followed by our food orders. As our drinks, breadsticks, dipping sauces, salad, and soups get placed before us, I look at Mo for permission to start breaking the news. She blushes and gives me a nod, indicating that I'm allowed to dive right in. I awkwardly pick up my glass of water and tap it with a knife. All heads immediately turn to me. Mo moves closer to me and takes my free hand in hers. "I know you guys are all probably what you're doing here tonight except for Kristoff because he already knows." Kristoff smiles. "I do but I'm still excited for you guys to tell everyone." I smile back at him. "Well Mo and I have some news for you all. Mo, can you lift up your hand for me love?" She nervously lifts up her hand with the engagement ring on it. It takes a minute for it to click in everyone's minds except Kristoff. Sina is the first one to break the shocked silence. "You two are engaged?" 

   Mo and I nod in agreement, staring at her nervously. "Mom, I hope you and Dad aren't mad." Tui looks from Mo to me and back to Mo with a warm smile and tears in his eyes. "Your mother and I aren't mad at Maui or you little minnow. We're thrilled. You ended up with the best guy you could possibly have. Maui's family. We love him and we love you." I tear up myself. "Thank you for your blessing. It means everything to me. It also means everything to me that you consider me family. I don't feel as though I'm worthy of that title." Sina comes over to me and wraps me in a warm hug. "Well it's time your mindset changes because you are so worthy of that title." I smile from to ear. Mo and I look at the rest of the gang to see if they approve. They erupt in cheers as Mo shows off the ring and we share a heated kiss in front of them. 

   I'm so happy. I'm so glad that everyone approves of our engagement, especially since it's sooner than everyone expected it to be. As we eat our appetizers of sorts and our main meals arrive, we dig in happily and have one of the most memorable dinners of our lives.
