Chapter 77

Maui's POV

A few days later... The first game...

  Jack, Flynn, and I are all getting ready for the game that starts in two hours. We have a quick forty five minute practice before the game starts. This is so nerve wracking for all of us, especially me. The first game of the season automatically determines the status of our team, you know whether or not we suck or dominate. I'm sure we got this though, I'm just psyching myself out as usual. We finish putting on our gear before finally leaving Jack and I's dorm room. Together, we quickly head over to the field and drive right into our short practice. What makes us even more nervous is that once we get into our practice session a bit, we spot all three of our girls sitting in the front row. My heart races as Mo returns eye contact with me. I flash her a nervous smile. She frowns slightly but mouths "I love you" to me, giving me that boost of confidence back. I grin and mouth "I love you too" back to her, causing her to return my grin. 

A little over an hour later...

 The game begins and I have to temporarily take my focus off of Mo and fully place it onto the game. I bark a series of orders and my teammates follow them. Aladdin even cut the slack and is playing his role in the game. I'm proud of the newbies already. Coach and I managed to whip them into shape pretty fast. I honestly think we have a decent chance at winning this game. Fingers crossed! 

Half time...

  The score is 15 to 5 with us being in the lead. Things are looking really good for us. Jack and Flynn are a really big help to me. Flynn's a newbie obviously, but he's a great asset to the team and by far the best of the newbies. I don't have to explain things to him ten times before he finally comprehends what I say. I just tell him once and he's able to retain the information successfully. Anyways since it's half time, we have a ten minute break so the guys and I are sitting down talking about strategy, drinking some water and/or Gatorade, and simply taking a rest. The cheerleaders are out there whoring around. It's turning most of the guys but not me. The only girl I'm attracted to is my own. I could go a life time without seeing another girl's body besides Mo's. Besides, none are as good as Mo. She's perfection. How can you beat perfection?

Ten minutes later...

We get back into the game and finish the second half of it, playing even more aggressively than before. We're ahead by ten points but we want to keep it that way. The guys from the other team are playing dirty. They're trying every trick in the book to mess us up. I won't allow it. We had such a great year last year, we're going to make this year even better. Right as I'm about to tackle some douche bag from the other team, he sticks his leg out and I fall at the last second. As my leg hits the ground, a surge of pain runs through my body like never before. I try to move my right leg but I can't move it. My eyes bug out of my head and a loud scream comes out of my mouth as the realization that my leg is broken hits me. 

  Jack, Flynn, and Coach are the first ones to come running over to me. A minute later, the girls all join them. Mo has tears in her eyes that I wipe away with my thumb before another loud scream slips out. Damn this really hurts. I've never broken a bone before. I was hoping that I'd be able to go a lifetime without having that experience. I see Coach go off to the side to call 911, most likely summoning an ambulance to take me the hospital. Shit. I hate hospitals more than anything, The only thing worse than hospitals is surgery. I really hope I don't have to have surgery. That'd be the worst. 

   The pain continues to shoot up and down my leg, sending me into a world of agony. Finally the pain gets the best of me and the last noises I hear are the loud commotion of people running around in panic and the last person I see is the smug asshole who caused me to break my leg. I'm going to get my revenge on him, that is after I wake up from the darkness that has overcome me...
