One Year Anniversary Date (Part 1)

Chapter 81

Maui's POV

The next day... Anniversary day...

Today's officially Mo and I's one year anniversary. On this day one year ago, I finally asked out the love of my life. Hands down the best decision I've ever made in my life. I'm taking Mo out on the best date ever tonight but right now, I'm about to take her out for a nice light lunch that'll hold us over until dinner. I'm even dressing up for the occasion. I hate dressing up but I do it for my baby girl. She seems to like seeing me dressed up once in awhile. The only person who looks good dressed up is her. I'd much rather see her in a fancy dress than myself in a suit and tie. I glance at the time and see that I'm supposed to stop by Mo's dorm in ten minutes. I quickly grab my things, use the bathroom on my floor, and head down to Mo's dorm. When I get there, I knock on the door and wait to be let in, which I am a minute later.

When the door opens, the biggest gasp slips out and a lump in my throat the size of a baseball forms instantly at her beauty. She never ceases to amaze me when it comes to her beauty, but she looks like a princess right now. She's wearing this beautiful blue dress. It has little gems at the top of it. The top half of it is dark blue and the bottom half is all shades of blue. It's long and flows all around her. Mo notices me looking her over and blushes, causing me to blush too. "Maui, you look really handsome." "Y-You l-look so..." I continue to stutter before she giggles and interrupts me. "If you were going to say weird, I'll stop you right there. I know I look weird." I shake my head no. "Not all at all. You look beautiful and so very stunning." The heat rushes to both of our cheeks once more. "Thank you Maui." I bow playfully. "You're welcome."

I extend my arm for her to take and she does. From there, we head down to the cafe for a light bite to eat along with teas. After that, we ride around for awhile singing at the top of our lungs to a bunch of Disney songs like the dorks that we are. Before we know it, it's time for dinner. I chose a super classy Greek place for us to try. Mo and I don't eat Greek food too often but when we do, we often enjoy it. I'm paying for dinner through and through. Mo doesn't know it yet but she will when the check arrives later.

Half an hour later...

We're at the Greek restaurant. It's so classy that it has valet service so I end up tossing my keys over to some awkward dude named Hans. He grumbles angrily to himself and goes off to park my car. He's a little weird but I brush it off. Hopefully he won't do anything to my car. Mo and I hold hands all the way inside and even until we get to our table. We get a few stares from some snotty rich people. We sit down and get handed some menus. As we're looking over the menus, our waiter turns out to be Kristoff, definitely didn't see that coming. Kristoff and I aren't best friends, but we have a couple classes together. He's very soft spoken and a nice guy. Moana seems to recognize him too because she smiles up at him. "Kristoff, it's nice to finally meet you. I'm a new friend of Anna's and she told me all about you. You seem to fit the picture." He laughs. "I hope she only told you good things. I know she likes to embarrass me as much as possible, though it's out of love."

"She only told me good things don't worry." He looks at me and smiles. "Maui, you're quite the legend. This is going to super dorky but I really admire you as both an athlete and a person. Football isn't one of my strengths so I opted for basketball instead." I smile back at him. "Thank you Kristoff. You're a nice guy. I've never seen you pick on anyone and respect you." We continue to chat for a few more minutes before we finally our drinks and food. For drinks, we ordered some nice apple ciders (who doesn't love apple cider in the fall) and for our meals, Mo ordered Lemon Chicken and Potatoes while I ordered stuffed tomatoes and peppers with a side salad. I'm surprisingly more of a salad eater than Mo. You'd think it'd be the other way around but it isn't. "

Maui?" "Yes Mo?" She smiles shyly at me. "I bought you some presents." I look at her in shock. "You didn't have to do that." She bites her lip and smiles even more. "I know but I wanted to." She grabs two gift bags from under the table and hands them to me. "Happy anniversary Maui." My heart warms instantly. I start opening them and am instantly shocked when I open the first gift. Two tickets to see The Script in concert. THE SCRIPT. MY FAVORITE BAND EVER. "Mo you didn't." She shrugs playfully. "I did. Keep going." I open the rest of the gifts, there are three more to be exact. The gifts are some new video games, a photo collage of us, and two hundred dollars. I'm not a person who cries often but tears are forming in my eyes. This is too much. I can't believe she did all of this for me. Mo notices me tearing up and takes my hands in hers. "Aw Maui, please don't cry. You deserve all of this. I love you." A few tears slip out and I squeeze her hands tightly. "I love you so much. That's why there's one gift I really need to give/ask you."

Mo doesn't know this, but I bought an engagement ring last month. I know Mo and I have been only been together romantically for a year, but we've known each other since we were kids. There's very little that I don't know about her and the few things that I don't, I enjoy learning about them along the way. Mo looks at me in confusion but motions for me to proceed right as Kristoff comes back with our food. He notices the ring hanging out of my pocket and grins. He gently sets the food down. "Maui, can I take some pictures and a video?" I nod and carefully hand him my phone without Mo noticing." I go over to Mo's side of the table and stand in front of her. "Mo, we've known each other for nearly our entire lives. Isn't that right?" She raises an eyebrow. "That's right. Maui... what are you doing?"

I ignore her question and continue talking. "Mo I know we've only been together as a couple for a year, but I've loved you since we were kids, even if I was too stupid to realize it until the end of high school. You and I work so well together. We're total opposites and yet we're the same. You and I are meant to be together forever for the rest of our lives and I think you it too, which is why I have an important question for you. You might be mad at me for not waiting until after we graduated college, but the truth is I couldn't wait that long even if I wanted to. With that being said..." I get down on one knee and hold in the ring out for her to see. She puts a hand over her mouth in shock and cries what are hopefully happy tears. "Moana, will you marry me?"

To be continued....
