Mountain Top Talk 

Chapter 54

Moana's POV

The next day...

  I got enough sleep during the day yesterday and overnight, therefore I felt like actually going out and doing something today. I thought about it carefully and decided that I'm in the mood to go for a hike. I ran it by Maui and he was all for it. Hence, we're going on a hike. There's a hiking trail about a quarter of a mile away so we're heading towards that so we can start the hike. "Maui, thank you for letting me rest last night. I feel much better today. I'm looking forward to this. As nice as the cabin is, I don't want to be confined to spending every minute of the next few days in it. We came all this way to enjoy the scenery and do a few things. I want to keep that vow." Maui wraps an arm around me, pulling me towards him. I take in his scent, which is currently a cross between apples and maple syrup. "You're very welcome princess. I'm just glad you're feeling better." 

  I nod and hide my face in his chest for extra warmth. It's not bitter cold like I though it would be, but it's still pretty cold. I made sure to dress super warm. I'm wearing two layers of clothing, except for underwear of course. Wearing two pairs of underwear would be weird and uncomfortable. Maui and I reach the beginning of the trail in no time and now we're starting to the intense but beautiful hike. 

An hour later...

  It's hard to believe we've already been hiking for an hour but I honestly could use a break. "Maui, can we stop and rest for a few minutes?" He nods. "I could a break myself. I can feel myself becoming short of breath." Maui sits down on a big rock, patting the spot next to him so I can sit down too. I lean my head on his shoulder and wraps both of us his arms around me. "Are you enjoying yourself Mo?" I smile from ear to ear. "I sure am Maui. Are you?" He returns my smile with a smile that also stretches from ear to ear. "I sure am." We sit in a blissful silence taking in the view. We're really high up. I feel like I'm on top of the world, literally. If a had a telescope, I could probably see my house from here. I probably sound silly. Oh well. 

Two hours later...

 We reach the highest peak of the mountain and once more I plop my butt down to sit. Maui chuckles at my antics but the does the exact same. I move away from him slightly and he pouts. "Mo, sit in my lap.... pppppllleeeeaaaasssseee." I giggle. "Maui, you're a man child." He playfully rolls his eyes. "Yes but I'm your man child that you love very much." I pretend to think about it. "I suppose so..." He fake gasps. "What do you mean you suppose so?" Another giggle slips out. "I'm joking Maui. You know I love you so much." His goofy smirk shifts into a dreamy lovestruck smile. "It's nice to be reminded of that. Say Mo, want to know something interesting?" I nod. "I've been having a lot of dreams lately about marriage... between the two us." 

   My heart begins racing like crazy. I honestly thought I was the only one dreaming about what marriage with Maui would be like. It's so nice to know that he has similar dreams and thoughts about it too. "What kind of wedding do you imagine us having?" A surprised expression forms on his face. He clearly didn't think that I would press the topic further but I'm curious to know more about what goes on in his mind, including in his dreams. "Well I imagine us getting married by the ocean since it's tied so deeply into our roots. We'd have a ceremony back in Montonui, for old times sake of course. Well that and the beaches there are the best. We'd invite your parents, Ariel, Jack, and anyone else who means a lot to us. It'd be a intimate ceremony with just our loved ones surrounding us." 

  I take Maui's hands in mine. "That perfect. I've been dreaming about marriage with you as well. When I do, a very similar picture comes to mind. The only different for me is that I'd like it to be in Honolulu. I've never been to the city before and I've always wanted to. They have super nice beaches there but also the nicest hotels and a massive mall as well." Maui rolls his eyes playfully. "Girls and their obsession with shopping. I'll never understand it." I playfully roll my eyes back. "Guys and their obsession with sports. I'll never understand it." Maui and I burst into laughter in unison. What better place is there to make jokes than on the top of a high and scenic mountain range.

    By the way, I made sure to take some artsy pictures and a few selfies with Maui. I wanted to be sure you knew all knew that. I wanted to have some memories of this wonderful trip. I'm sure I'll take more over the course of the next few days. You got to love me... I know I don't LOL.
