Talking And Decision Making

Chapter 89

Maui's POV

Time Skip... Two weeks later...

Mo and I are balancing classes, work, wedding errands, and our social lives all at once. We're handling everything a lot better than we thought we could. Just yesterday after having three  long classes, we went to pick out our catering, which is a cool little restaurant ten minutes from the beach that combines Italian and Mexican food, our two personal favorites. We put a down payment on the catering, which was three hundred dollars. We then picked out our cake at a bakery not too from campus, a nice red velvet one to be exact. The cake only cost us fifty dollars, which is super cheap for a wedding cake. After all of this, we finally sat down and had supper before having to do some homework before bed. We're on overload right now. Though we're handling it all well, if our load increases even slightly more, we're both going to explode.

At the moment, her and I are eating lunch before going to her parents' house to talk about some of the wedding details since the wedding itself is only a little over a month away. Before we know it, it'll be the rehearsal dinner and then the wedding itself. I don't know where time goes.

After lunch...

Mo and I take my car over to her parents' house, which as you know is only an hour away. I asked them personally last night if we could come over and they said yes. Her parents are so good to me. I love them as if they were my own. I glance over at Mo lovingly. She looks so beautiful today. She's wearing knee high shorts, a black tank top, light jewelry, light makeup, black flats, and her hair is hanging down in waves, which is my favorite hairstyle of hers personally. She even has a yellow flower in her hair. Yellow flowers are her favorite. I think it suits her, she's a ray of sunshine after all.

We spent the whole hour talking because before we know it, I'm pulling into the driveway of the home that's becoming my home. Her parents noticed us pull in and come out to greet us with warm hugs and kind words. Sina has a binder in her hand, flashing it in front of Mo's face, causing them to both squeal like girls. Tui and I look at each other and nearly die of laughter. "Girls" we say in unison, erupting into even more laughter and earning playful eye rolls from both Mo and Sina. I pout playfully at them. "Don't be like that. You both love us and our charm." Tui wraps an arm me and they nod while giggling. We linger outside for another couple of minutes before heading inside.

Tui and I go off to have a "father and son" talk while Mo and Sina go off to discuss some of the girly aspects of the wedding such as what flowers to use and what kind of neckline she should opt for on her wedding dress. "Maui, can you follow me into the living room so we can talk more privately?" I nod and follow him into the living room. He sits down a comfy chair and I take a seat in one directly across from him so I can make eye contact as needed. "Maui, I've known you for ages now and you being apart of this family is wonderful. I cherish you and am so happy that you and my daughter are engaged to be married, even if you're doing it before you two graduate college." I gulp nervously and a small lump forms in my throat. I can also feel sweat pouring off of my forehead, though Tui is too nice to point that out.

"Though I am fond of you and have given you my blessing to marry my daughter, I know that you've had a bit of a messy history. I know that you've become a much better man now, but I need to know that you aren't going to hurt my daughter on purpose, especially by cheating on her with some dumb bimbo." A pang of sadness hits me but I try my best to hide it. "Tui, you know me. You know how much I love Moana. I've loved her since we were kids and once we hit high school, I became so deeply madly in love with her that I knew in my heart that we were going to end up together one day. Sure it took more time than I wanted it to but it happened. I'm never going to love any other girl but your daughter. I promise, on my life, that I will never hurt her on purpose, cheat on her, or make her feel unloved. In fact, I promise to continue to shower her with all the love in the world because she deserves nothing less than that."

Tui stares at me in slight awe. "Maui, I've never heard you speak with so much passion before." I laugh tiredly. "Yeah well now you have. Every word I said is true. I'd jump in front of a train for Moana if I had to if it meant saving her life. She's everything to me. Because of her I got a second chance to turn myself around, become a better man, get into the college of my dreams, and have a true family that loves and accepts me for who I am. I couldn't ask for more than that." Tui pulls me into a hug. "I'm proud of you son." Him calling me son causes a few tears to slip down my eyes, though I quickly wipe them away out of embarrassment. I've been so emotional lately. It's probably due to the fact that I'm getting married to the love of my life soon.

The rest of the day goes much smoother. We've made final decisions on everything from the flowers to the guest list. We're keeping it small but not too small. We've invited our social circle along with their family members, the guys on the football team, and Coach. I couldn't not invite Coach. He's like my second dad. Things are falling into place for us and I'm truly grateful.
