The Infirmary 

Chapter 27

Moana's POV

 I gasp when I see Maui's face whined in pain as well as dark bruises covering nearly every part of his body, especially on his face. It looks like someone literally beat the shit out of him. "M-Maui?" He looks up at me for a moment before looking away. He's clearly insecure about this and doesn't want me to see him in this condition. Jack sits Maui down in a chair next to me and I decide to talk to Jack since he seems to be more open about the situation. "Jack, what the hell happened to him?" "We were at practice today and Tamatoa apparently has a big bad cousin. This big bad cousin started pounding on Maui, Tamatoa's orders of course, and hence the result." Maui nods and grimaces. "Who's Tamatoa's cousin? I'll go kick his ass." Jack gives me a serious look. "You don't want to mess with this guy Mo. If you think Tamatoa's bad, his cousin is five times worse. By the way, his cousin is Scar. He's literally the Scar straight out of the Lion King but in human form." 

  I sigh. "I'll go deal with Tamatoa then and see his intentions are. I'll be back." I get up to go to find him when Maui reaches out in attempt to stop me. "Mo, no. I won't allow you to do this, especially not alone. I'm coming with you." "Maui, you're really hurt. You should really be in the infirmary. Please let me take you to get checked out by a doctor first and then let me go deal with Tamatoa." He sighs. "Fine, but Jack's going with you to deal with Tamatoa. Is that okay with you Ariel and Jack?" Both of them nod, indicating that it's indeed okay. I turn to Jack. "Can you meet me outside the infirmary in an hour?" He gives me small smile and salute. That's apparently his thing now. I then help lift Maui out of the chair and carry him all the way to the infirmary. Everyone cleared out of the cafeteria and campus as a whole. I'm glad. It's less people gawking at us like we're a freak show, well mainly Maui but I wouldn't put it past them to think that way about me as well. 

  When we get near the infirmary, I pause for a moment. Maui notices my hesitation and looks at me in concern. "Mo, what's wrong sweetheart?" Tears cloud my vision. "M-Maui, I'm worried about you. I'm scared." Despite being badly injured, Maui still has the strength to pull me into a comforting hug. "I'm going to be okay. Don't worry about me. I've been through way worse than this. This is merely child's play compared to what I dealt with growing up. I'm worried about you. Tamatoa seems to have an unhealthy obsession with you. I'm not trying to be possessive by not letting you go alone. I'm doing it for your safety. You know that right?" I nod into his shoulder. "I know that Maui. You've never been that kind of guy and you never will be. Anyways, let's get you signed in to get checked out." 

   I bring Maui into the infirmary, get him signed in, and go in with him a few minutes later when his name is called to get checked out. At this hour, there's hardly a wait which is great. I wanted to be here with Maui while he gets checked out before I go off with Jack to deal with Tamatoa. The doctor checks him out a decent manner of time before actually giving us the results. Maui has a sprained ankle, deep bruising, and tight muscles. He's going to have to stay in the infirmary over night and will be out of practice for a few days. Maui mutters a "thank you" to the doctor and the doctor gives us some space to absorb everything. Maui isn't very happy with the news, but in all fairness, I didn't think that he would be." I put a hand on his shoulder and caress it gently. "I know this isn't what you were hoping to hear, but it could have been a lot worse." He sighs. "You're right Mo. You're always right. I just don't want to be out of practice for days on end, especially so early in the season. It makes me look bad." 

   I grab my phone off the table and start texting Jack, politely telling him that I'll deal with Tamatoa tomorrow. Maui raises an eyebrow at me in confusion. "What are you doing?" I give him a small smile. "I just told Jack that I have someone more important to be with tonight. I'll deal with Tamatoa tomorrow. Jack said he'd come with me still." He looks at me in shock. "A-Are you sure? You don't have to stay." I climb into bed and lean my head on his shoulder. "I know, but I want to." He wraps an arm around me and kisses my every part of my face including my lips. "Have I ever told you how much I love you?" I giggle. "Only everyday but keep on telling me. It's nice to be reminded of that love." He playfully swats me and I crawl closer to him. I eventually fall asleep and so does he. I know I have homework, studying, etc to deal with, but it'll get done tomorrow. 

Hoped that you guys liked this chapter! I ended up taking a super long nap right when I came home because the stress of today wore me out, but I wanted to get a chapter up for you guys tonight. :) -Mary
