Chapter 67

Maui's POV

Time Skip... Three weeks later...

  Summer break is flying by already. I can't believe we've already been out of college for a month. It's also been a month since Mo and I have seen Jack and Ariel. We're heading to the mall not too far from campus to spend the day together. We've both missed them a lot. It'll be nice spending the day with them and catching up on the events of the past month. The only downside is that it's a forty five minute drive going and coming. At least I get to spend that extra time with Mo. 

 Forty five minutes later...

  Mo and I arrive at the mall and happily greet Ariel and Jack. Ariel and Mo have a girly squealing session and hug for like ten minutes. Meanwhile Jack and I have one quick bro hug and just awkwardly wait for them to stop squealing. They eventually do, both blushing profusely. Mo then giggles. "I'm sorry Maui. My excitement got the best of me." I ruffle her hair playfully. "No worries. You're cute when you squeal." "T-Thank you." I grin. "You're welcome." Jack then wraps an arm around me. "So man, want to eat first? I'm starved." At that exact moment, my stomach rumbles, indicating my hunger. "Yeah, food sounds good. Are you girls hungry?" Mo and Ariel shake their heads no. Ariel gives me a polite smile. "You guys go have some bro time for a bit. We'll meet up with you after. We want to shop a little bit before we eat." "Sounds good Ariel." I pull Mo off to the side to give her a quick peck on the lips before we separate for a bit. 

  "So Jack, what's new?" "Well I got a summer job working at as a barista." I smirk at him. "A barista? Are you really that basic Jack?" He swats me playfully. "Shut up Maui. A job is a job." I chuckle deeply. "Yeah I suppose so. How was your trip with Ariel?" That puts a smile on his face. "It was absolutely amazing. It was our first trip together. I loved every minute of it. What about you Maui?" "Well I got a summer job as a pizza delivery boy, Mo and I have been out on a few dates, and we had a beach day last week. Mo and I both have crazy work schedules." Jack nods in agreement. "I know that struggle. Where did Mo get hired for the summer?" "Dairy Queen." Jack grins. "I love Dairy Queen. I should pay her a visit sometime." "Yeah totally. What about Ariel? Did she get a summer job?" Jack suddenly flinches. Weird... What's wrong with me asking about Ariel getting a summer job? It must be a sensitive subject. I need to tread lightly. 

   "I'm sorry I asked Jack. I figured that there wouldn't be any harm in asking about it." He sighs. "No it's fine. Your question is a completely normal question. I'll tell you but you have to promise me you won't tell anyone. I can't have her knowing that I told you." I put a hand up as if I'm taking an oath. "I promise I won't tell anyone and Ariel won't find out that I know." "Ariel's had ten summer job interviews so far and tanked every single one of them. She has severe anxiety and unfortunately it's been getting in the way of her getting a summer job. I feel so bad. I know she wants to work but every time she builds even the slightest trace of confidence, it disappears just as quick as it came." I frown. "That really sucks. I'm sorry. I'll tell Mo to go easy on talking about her summer job. The last thing I'd want is for either us to hurt her feelings without realizing that we're doing so." Jack nods. "I'd appreciate that. To make her feel better though, I've been giving her a portion of my paycheck so she can have a little something to get through the summer. Her parents will only float her so much." 

  I nod in understanding. On a happier note, Jack and I are getting some wicked good food from Chick-Fil-A which I haven't had in ages. This should lift our spirits. Food makes me just as happy as Mo does. Well food and sleep. I treasure my sleep as if it were actual treasure. I'm a dork I know. Mo tells me almost every single day. I usually respond to that by calling her my little cutie and making her blush like crazy. Revenge can be fun! Jack and I get our food quickly and mood begins to pick up. I hope the girls are having fun shopping. I'm sure they'll be gushing over all the clothes they bought when they meet up with us after.

Two hours later...

  Mo and Ariel finally meet up with us again. Jack and I have been sitting in the food court the entire time just eating and taking. The girls are finally hungry so they go to Taco Bell to grab some tacos and such to eat. When they come back, I politely pull Mo off to the side. She raises an eyebrow at me. "Is everything okay Maui?" I nod. "Everything's fine Mo. I just wanted to tell you not to mention the subject of summer jobs to Ariel. Jack didn't tell me why but he wanted me to tell you. He figured it'd sound more polite from me than him." Mo nods in agreement. "That's a bit random but I won't mention it to her." We go back to the table and talk with the girls while they eat before we go off to do a little shopping ourselves for clothes and video games.  

Another two hours later...

  As a group, we all swing by the arcade for a little while before the mall closes. We stay right up until the last minute the mall is open before having to sadly end our fun mall day. The four of us share a loving group hug before Ariel and Jack go to his car and Mo and I go to mine. I'm glad that we had this group mall day together. It was nice to have the gang all reunited again.
