They arrived at school early as it was the 1st day they tried to start the school year with a good start. As soon as they pulled up all eyes were on them already and they had only just arrived. The whispered started as soon as they stepped out of car then came the pointing. Addy looked nervously at Stacie who gave her a comforting smile.
Stacie, Beca and Emily acted like it was no big deal, they embraced it. Beca and Emily said bye and walked causally over to their group of friends ignoring all the stares and pointing. Stacie nudges Addy to walk with her in the same direction. And in this moment Addy is happy that she has a sister to help her navigate and help get over the whispers and pointing even though if she didn't have her sisters then the pointing and staring might not have actually happened. So, you could look at this in both ways.
Addy catches sight of Isla and squeals and overtakes Stacie to get to Isla quicker. Both girls hug and enjoy the moment, a smile grows on Stacie's face as she sees Addy relax for the 1st time in a week.
"Everyone is staring already and I only got out of a car." Addy tells Isla like she hasn't already noticed.
"So, you're the most popular girl in our year already and we haven't even started class yet!" Isla squealed excitedly knowing that Addy popularity would also effect hers as they are best friends.
"You make it seem like a good thing." Addy grumbled not wanting Isla to treat her differently now she was inevitably going to be popular.
"It is a good thing and sorry to break up this extremely interesting conversation but lets get to your class now so I can be fashionably late to mine." Stacie interjected sarcastically which is a very Mitchell thing to do. Both girls nodded in response and followed Stacie to their tutor room. Addy picking up parts of the whispers from many different years. Friends to friends. Brother to younger sisters. And a lot of mixed reactions.
"So that's the last Mitchell sister."
"That is the girl you need to be friends with if you want to be popular."
"Probably just as spoiled and stuck up as the rest of them."
"You need to know her if you don't want to socially die on your 1st year."
"I wonder if she will be just as annoying as the rest of them."
Addy knew that she would have to ignore them but that is going to take some getting used to.
"So, this is where I leave you. Come see us at lunch. You won't be able to miss us. And lastly get rid of that terrified look on you face you a Mitchell you don't get scared got it?" Stacie said to Addy and her face began to relax. Addy had this. She was prepared. It was all going to be fine.
"Yes, It's gonna be fine. Love you." Addy responded relaxing and smiling.
"Love you too squirt. You got this." She said walking of to meet her friends just as the bell went.
"Yeah, we have this squirt!" Isla said mockingly.
"We have talked about this thousands of time you don't to call me that." Addy said seriously, as the door was opened by our tutor of the next 4 years and we all fled in to the back of the room.
"Whatever you say...squirt!" Addy knew it was a losing battle and prepared to meet her 1st teacher of the day. There was no backing out now.
