The morning rolled around and their mother had gone as quickly as she came even though they wish she went faster. Addy packed her bag and got dressed.
Addy went down stairs to see Emily ready to go but Stacie was in long sleeve pyjamas and Addy realised she wasn't going to school but was just driving her and Emily there as she doubted that Beca was going either. Stacie hair was down covering most of her face it was only when she reached for the door handle did her hair move and Addy saw a glimpse of a bruise peek through with a matching one around her wrist being covered mostly by her top. Addy knew Stacie was trying to hide it from her but Addy wasn't an idiot and knew what went on behind closed doors.
Their mother wasn't an idiot and knew that known of her kids would tell the police about the abuse because for many reasons. One: they were mostly too scared because if the police didn't help then they would be in worse trouble. Two: no one would believe them in the house they lived in and the stuff they had. And three: sometimes they believed they deserved it. Their mother never did it in front of anyone. Addy had only been slapped around the face a couple of times but the verbal abuse still happened but Stacie got the worst of it then Beca.
They got into the car and drove quietly to school and left the car in silence. No one felt like saying anything and Addy wished she didn't have to say anything all day but that wasn't going to be the case. It was only the third day and Addy didn't want to be there.
"Cute outfit!" Isla says all to perky not noticing Addy not being cheerful.
"Thanks!"
"Ready for another day!" Addy nodded. She really didn't want to talk. "I can't believe we are hardly in any of the same classes. Sucks right?" Addy nodded again and zoned out as Isla continued to nod every now and then to make it look like she was listening. As they both entered the class room and sat at the back with Morgan. Isla only stopped talking when Miss Holmes started.
"Are you okay?" Morgan whispered and Addy looked up and locked eyes with Morgan before looking down and nodding. Morgan knew that wasn't true and also wondered how Isla hadn't noticed but didn't want to push further. Yet. Morgan wanted to know what was wrong and also wondered if she wouldn't say anything though as they have known each other for nearly three days but also wondered that maybe she didn't want to say anything in front of Isla. The bell ran for the next lesson and Addy hoped the day would go by very quickly.
