"I swear," Lani was leaning against the railing besides me, "I'm gonna be so dark after this."

I started laughing, knowing that Lani does get dark naturally, "At least you get a tan. I burn."

"That's true."

Lani and I thought we would take advantage of visiting my dad by heading to the Santa Monica Pier. This place was overlooking the beach, and let me just tell you, I can never look at Chicago's beach the same ever again.

"How are you and Calum?" Lani nudged me, "I heard that you two were getting cozy in his bedroom."

"Jeez," I slapped my forehead, "You guys make us sound so dirty."

"That's what makes it funny!" Lani laughed as she pushed me, "Now spill! I wanna know!"

"Well," I bit my lower lip and looked at the ocean, "I guess we're in better terms."

"Did he tell you why he let you two fade?"

"He was going to but.." I sighed, and looked forward, letting the cool ocean breeze blow on to my face, "I stopped him. Honestly, for some reason, no matter how much I want to know what happened, yell at him, cry about it, and get a apology from him. I can't seem to stop myself from feeling something nice when he's around me. It feels good laughing, and smiling with him. That was something I wanted a lot more than knowing what happened. This summer, I really want to cherish my time I have with him while he's still here."

Lani nodded, "That's understandable. I'm glad you guys are better now."

"Is it because you ship us?" I nudged her and she jumped, "Yes! Jesus, you two are the cutest thing ever!"

I shook my head, "Like we're gonna happen."

"Ah," She poked my nose, "That's what they all say in the beginning."

"How do you know that?" I pushed her hand.

"That's because I said the same thing about Luke Hemmings and here I am now." Lani turned around to lean her back against the railing, looked at down and brushed her fingers on the necklace Luke gave for their one year anniversary, "Trust me, Jenna. Anything can happen with these guys." She looked up at me, "I promise you that."

I stayed silent, not able to respond to what she said. Luke and Lani. Lani and Luke. Calum and Jenna. Jenna and Calum. Can we really happen? But then there's Gabe. Sweet Gabe. Ugh. Why are boys so difficult?

"Come on," Lani patted my shoulder, "Let's get some dippin dots before we head to your dad's restaurant. The heat is killing me."

"Says the girl who wanted to go here over the summer." I nudged her as were walking inside the pier.

"Hey, I wanted a break from San Francisco's weather."

When we found a dippin dots stand, there was this attractive guy working there. Blondie with a slight tan. This guy is rocking the surfer guy look.

"What can I get for you ladies?" The surfer guy smiled at us. Jesus, California Boys are definitely good looking.

"Want anything, Jenna?" Lani asked me and I shrugged, "I'll get whatever your getting."

So, Lani order cookies and creams in a small cup, but when the guy handed us the cups, it was a large.

"Uh, this isn't the size we ordered." I told him, and he shrugged, "It's on the house. Pretty hot weather today. Don't want pretty girls like you and your friend to be feeling dehydrated."

Did he just call me pretty? But he mentioned Lani also, so, I guess he called both of us pretty. When Lani paid, the guy waved at us, "Have a nice day, Ladies!"
