Jason's pov
"Theo, stop chasing Kim with your squirt gun! She doesn't wanna be sprayed with it!" I hear Sierra shout outside I laugh softly and finish blowing up birthday balloons with helium for the twins' birthday. "Already ten years old. Man time sure flies." I tie a string around it then tie it to the birthday boy's chair. Luke does the same with a pink one for Kim's chair. "Are twins always polar opposites?" He asks, scratching his head. I smile thinking about how different Kim and Theo are from each other. "I dunno but it sure shows with my kids." I say. Theo is a typical redneck's son. Loves to hunt and fish. Paintball and getting down in the mud and little Kimmy hates anything dirty, loves barbies and make up and all that stuff. "She's a real girly girl." I murmur. "Not to mention a bit of a germaphobe." I hear Sierra say behind me. I turn around and she had her arms crossed with a smile. "It looks great in here guys." "Oh I'm gonna go pick up the boys and Caroline. See ya in a bit." "Hey while you're out, can you pick up the ice cream cakes from the Walmart bakery?" "Sure thing." I sit down at the table when he leaves. "Man being a dad to our twins is awesome." I say smiling at my sweet sexy wife. She smiles softly. "They're such amazing kids." I know she's bummed about Miranda. She gets this way about anything important that she's missing out on. Like holidays. Birthdays. Even award shows. Miranda loved those award shows. I sigh softly and hold her hand. "She's watchin' you, Si." She smiles. "Yeah she's probably thinking, mom stop moping around and be the life of the party!" I smile. "I know that's what I'm thinkin'." She laughs then Kim runs in with Theo chasing her and spraying her with the water gun. "DADDY!!" Kimmy cries. I scoop her up and out of the line of fire. "That's enough, Theo." Sierra says. "I'm all wet dad." She grumbles glaring at Theo. I laugh softly. "To upstairs and change then sweetpea." I say kissing her head and setting her down. She sticks her tongue out at Theo and walks upstairs. "No more water gun, little man." I say, taking it away from him. "Aw but dad! I won't shoot Kim anymore! I promise." I smirk. "Cause you and me are gonna get Luke and his boys with paintball." His eyes light up with excitement. "YES!!" He yells, rushing out the door. I follow him to the barn and get the paintball guns loaded. "Only rule is don't shoot your sister. Or I'll tan your hide." He laughs. "Yeah. She's such a baby." "She's not a baby. She's the same age as you so if she's a baby you are too." He rolls his eyes. Luke's truck pulls up. I smile and hand Theo his paintball gun. "Ambush?" He whisper asks. I nod.

"Happy birthday to you!" Sierra snaps a picture on her phone. I start cutting the cake when Sierra calls my name, walking over with a soft smile as she looks at her phone. "What's up?" "Miranda's here." She says turning her phone around to show that familiar white glare I'm accustomed to seeing in family photos. I smile. "Well tell her it's her turn to do the dishes." I joke. Sierra laughs and lightly swats my arm.
*a few days later*
I get to broken bow to record some new songs and saw a bunch of people gathered around one of the sound booths. That's when I hear a very angelic passionate female voice singing! I jog over. "Who's there?" I ask, unable to see past the sea of bodies. "A girl named Mitchy Patterson. She sure kicks ass." Ron, a BBR manager, tells me. "That she does." I'm not gonna get passed all the people to see her so I'll just get started. I meet up with the boys in the band. "Let's do this thing, boys." I say high fiving Tully. "Another album coming up!" Mike says, doing producer stuff. After I record about three songs, I take a lunch break. We were about to head out when I heard Ron say, "Mitchy you have an amazing talent." I'm curious to who this girl is. I peek around the corner. I see Ron but not any girl? Then he turns around and my eyes go wide in surprise seeing a dark haired girl, maybe 25, in a wheelchair and talking to Ron! "Hey Jason!" He says waving me over. I feel my face get hot and walk out. "Hey." I say waving. "Jason, I'd like you to meet Mitchy Patterson." He says proudly. She smiles, her hands on the arm rests of the wheelchair. "We've met." She says, confusing me yet again. "We have?" I ask caught off guard. She laughs softly and nods. "You probably don't recognize me. The last time ya saw me, I was bald and dying." My hands tense up. I feel stupid for not recognizing her. "Michelle?!" I gape shocked. She laughs and nods. "Bingo!" "Wow! Michelle you look great!" She smiles. "I'm finally living my dream." "How... I mean I'm so glad you got through cancer." "Well... It was a pretty big shock to everyone." I sit down on the bench beside her so we can talk and catch up. "I was not supposed to make it. The treatments stopped working." She says looking away. "I had gone home, waiting to die with my mom and dad... But... Over the next few weeks... I.. I just got better." I smile. "I'm really glad, girl. It's so good to see you. These ten years have certainly been good to you." "Thanks. It's great to see you too." We share a hug. "So how are the twins?" I smile softly and tell her all about my perfect kids that I love with all my heart. I am so happy to see this girl alive and well. The first paraplegic country singer. I'm glad she went for her dreams.
