Jason's pov
Me and Mike were working on tour dates. "Hey Mike I wanna do that St. Jude charity thing." "That's... I think February 13th this year. Not sure. Gotta look at the calendar." He says, looking through papers. The door opens. I turn around and smile seeing Michelle. "Hey." I say waving. "Workin' on a tour?" I nod. "I gotta say you remind me so much of my daughter." "I do?" I nod. "She woulda been just a few years older than you. She also wanted to be a famous singer too." "What happened to her?" "Cancer." I whisper, remembering that always smiling bright little 17 year old. She'd probably have kids of her own by now. "Wow. I'm sorry." "I think about her everyday." "What city do you wanna do the concert for the cure concert?" Mike asks. "I'm, what city did we do it last time in?" "Boston." "Hm. Somewhere southern this year.... What about some place in Georgia this year?" "Where though?" "I don't care man. You decide." I stand up. "I gotta go meet the wife and kids. Sierra wants to take 'em to some waterpark before we go back on tour." I wave to my friends. "See ya later Michelle." "Hey is there anything I need to know before we ship out?" "Not really. The shows are pretty laid back. You can do what ya want." "Ok. Thanks for letting me tour with you?" "I'm happy you're touring with me." I say smiling.
*A few months later*
I was about to be done with meet and greets when a 13 or so year old kid, hobbled in on crutches. His leg was in a cast. I pull the sharpie out from behind my ear. "What happened?" "Hockey accident." He says. "Want me to sign your cast?" He nods. "And can you sign this?" He asks. His dad held up a poster. "It's for my sister." "Sure." I sign them both. "Takin' it like a champ huh kid?" He laughs. "Kinda annoyed I'm out for the rest of the season." "Yeah back when I did baseball in high school, I got benched sometimes cause of my competitive hardheadedness." "Tell me about it. When coach doesn't put me in when I know I NEED to go in, I get steamed." I laugh softly. "You competitive too?" He nods. We take a picture. "Enjoy the show." "I will! Thanks!" "No problem." I can't help but smile. That kid makes me think of my younger years. Sierra walks in. "Hey." I wave. "Ready to rock?" I nod. I can hear Mitchy singing onstage. "Man I'm glad see never gave up. Even wheelchair bound, she's a star." Sierra looks at the stage longingly. I know she's thinking of our daughter. "Miranda would kill to be here too." I force a smile. "You know she's here, baby." I say hugging her and kissing her head. "She's glad you're not depressed anymore." I say. She smiles. "I'm such a lucky girl." "Mom!" Kim shouts running over. "What?" She gasps. Kim looked mad. "Theo locked the door to the bathroom in the bus and I've gotta go." I laugh softly. Kids and their fighting. Sibling rivalry is adorable with my polar opposite twins. "Well use the bathroom in the arena. I'll take care of your brother." I say patting her head. She stomps off annoyed. "Man can those two ever get along?" I laugh. "Oh Sierra, do we got our hands full tonight!" I say, shaking my head. She laughs. "I'm gonna go wrangle Theo. See ya onstage." She says waving and heading to the bus. "Love you, babe!" I shout. She turns around walking backwards and waves. "Love you too!" Then to my utter amusement, she, walking backwards still, bumps into a trash can and falls in. I laugh hysterically and run over to help. Thank God it was empty. She flips me off for laughing which only makes me laugh more. "You're adorable, Si." I say. "Oh kiss it, Aldean." She mutters, rolling her eyes. I smirk and kiss her. "Don't mind if I do." She giggles. "You goof." Just then my alarm beeps. "Oh I gotta go on in five. Thank God for alarms." She laughs. "Have fun!" "I will." I jog into the arena just as Mitchy was finishing up her last song. "I'm so proud of you girl." "Hey Jason!" I turn around and smile seeing her mom! "Hey Melissa!" I say waving. "You must be proud." She smiles and nods. "I can't thank you enough. You gave her the confidence to do it back in that hospital room ten years ago." I smile. "I'm really glad she didn't give up. Cause she's got talent." She comes backstage. "Mom!" She gasps. They hug. "Where's dad?" "He ran to the crowd to watch." She says nodding towards the stage. "Well I gotta get onstage. See y'all. Oh and Michelle tell your dad I said hey." I say hugging the talented musician. I go onstage. "How's everyone doing tonight? What's y'all think of Mrs. Mitchy Patterson?" They cheer loudly. "She's definitely one of my new favorites!" I get my guitar and get into the set list. Michelle is right. If ya do what ya love, you'll never work a day in your life. I love what I do. And I do what I love.
