Miranda's pov
(She's 8 years old now)
Me and my best friend Brian were hanging out playing chutes and ladders in the new house. We just recently moved in to a new place and mom and dad were unpacking. Along with Theo and Kim. Dad was carrying a box through the room while talking to one of the moving guys. "Wait til we get the bookshelf in and we'll put it all on that." I drown out the boring talk and me and Brian play the game. He ends up winning which is annoying. "Best two out of three." I shout jumping up, hitting my head on the box. It falls and a bunch of cleaning stuff falls on the ground. "Oops." I mumble. Daddy puts his hands on his hips. "Sorry." "Go find your room and play in there kiddo. We don't want to break anything." I laugh. "It's just cleaning stuff." "Ya never know." He says shrugging and putting stuff up. I take his hat and take off running.
Jason's pov
For some reason her taking my hat sends chills down my back. I walk after her, hopefully before she gets into some trouble with the movers. "Where are you crazy?" I mutter, shaking my head. Suddenly I feel a hand around my ankle. "Gotcha." She says. I pick her up and throw her over my shoulder. "Hey put me down!" I take my hat back and tickle her. "You troublemakin' little rascal! The grown ups have heavy boxes so find something to keep ya busy til we're done." "Ok. Me and Brian are going exploring." I set her down. "Ok but take a bee bee gun and stay on the property." "Ok. I won't get lost." She calls for her friend and they go to the barn. I shake my head. "Crazy kid." "Where do ya want this?" A mover asks. "I.... Uh... I gotta ask Sierra."
*A few days later*
Miranda's pov
I was reading when mom and dad walked in the living room. "It's a really old house." Dad says. "Tons of secrets." Mom laughs. "You and old houses." She says shaking her head. "Supposedly a few kids died in this house in the late 30s." My eyes go wide in surprise and mom elbows him. "Oops." "Died?" I gasp. "I..... Uh it's nothing to be worried about, hun. It happened over 70 years ago. They just went missin' is all." Mom glares at him. "You'll be fine, kiddo." "But what if they haunt the place?" I gasp, setting my book down. "They're kids. They wouldn't hurt ya." Mom looks annoyed. "You've got school." She says, picking up my book. "Wait... You're reading to kill a mockingbird?" She says looking stunned. I nod. "I found it at the school library." They both look freaked out. "What's wrong?" "Nothing. Just.... A book we both know." Dad says, taking it from mom and handing it to me. "Head to bed."
Jason's pov
"You okay Si?" She nods, looking freaked out. "It... It just sent chills down my spine." Deja Vu. "Tat happened to me today when she stole my hat." "Her memories sometimes scare me, Jason." "How?" "What if she remembers..... Worse stuff. Like when she was six and getting her shots.... Or that horrible man who kidnapped her." I grab her shaking hands. "Sierra calm down girl. It'll be fine. She's going to be fine." She sighs. "I'm probably just nervous. The new house and all." "Let's head to bed. You've got that novel you're writin' and I'm songwriting tomorrow." "Busy day for both of us." She says smiling. "Busy day for all of us. The kids start school." I hug her. "Goodnight sweetheart."
