Hey. I have a headache. Bear with me. Speaking of bears do you want to hear a joke?

If not...too bad.

What do you call a bear with no teeth?

A GUMmy bear

HA.

I'll go now.

Enjoy!

(y/n)'s POV

A knock sounded at my door and I swung it open. Phil was there, looking down at his feet. I let him in, staying silent. We sat down in my kitchen stools and I crossed my arms, laying them on the counter in front of me.

"(y/n) I'm sorry." Phil said. His voice was barely above a whisper, but I could hear him loud and clear. "I never meant to treat you like a child, it's just you know how protective I get. I want what's best and Dan just isn't. I'm really sorry. I'll work on it."

"That's the thing, Phil. You're so concerned with my 'well being'--"I started, putting air quotes around my last words. "--that I'm living this fake, one sided friendship."

"That's not true. You are my best friend, (y/n). I know that. You know that. I can't survive without you. Literally. You have saved me from death many times." Phil said. I suppose that was kind of true. I recall him calling me to ask if he could get his toast out of the toaster with a fork. LITERALLY.

"Yeah, but that's just something someone else can do for you. I don't just do it." I argued. I wasn't willing to let this one go just yet.

"Look. You are the sole reason I actually like going to school, (y/n). The sole reason I have more friends instead of being a loner like I used to be. The sole reason I go outside. The sole reas--"

"Okay. I get it." I interrupted. He went silent.

"(y/n), the word best friend can't even begin to describe what an amazing friend you are to me. I don't deserve you." He said. I looked out the window.

"No, I'm being ridiculous. I know that and I'm just being an ass. Forget anything I say. I don't deserve you." I started babbling. Phil placed a hand over my mouth and I stopped talking.

"We're both two huge messes." He said. I nodded and smiled.

"See, I've missed that. That smile." He said grinning.

"Yeah, me too. I like that little tiny tongue of yours." I said.

"That is the weirdest compliment." He replied.

"Why do you expect anything less?"

"Nope, that's why I love ya."

"Thanks. Love you too!" I replied. I felt much better now that I had regained my best friend. It almost felt like we had started nice and fresh. It felt really nice.

My phone buzzed and I jumped, and Phil laughed. I stuck my tongue out at him and pulled my phone from my pocket.

"An e-mail?" I said. That's a little ancient. I opened it to see it was from the principal. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"What?"

"It's from the principal."

"Well, read it!"

"Calm down, I will."

I scanned through the e-mail, coming upon a name I didn't recognize.

"Caspar Lee?" I asked. Phil shrugged and I read more in depth.

"It says because I'm a straight A student and involved at school, the principal thinks I would be a good influence on the new student Caspar. He wants me to show him around." I said. Phil smiled.
