Hello.

Go read Painted Smile. I'm updating one(possibly 2) chapters tomorrow. So yeah.

:D

Enjoy~

(y/n)'s POV

I handed out the last cup of tea and took a seat myself.

"I don't think I've ever been to a party that sucky before." Zoe commented.

"Have you been to one of Dan's parties?" I joked. He looked at me offended. "What you know it's true." I said.

"Yeah, something bad always happens to you at my parties." he said.

"I know. That's why I never really wanted to come." I said. Dan opened his mouth to say something but he dismissed it.

"Yeah, I was there for most of them." Phil commented. The discussion about parties continued.

"What happened to you guys in that room anyway?" Zoe questioned.

"Oh, Devon dragged us upstairs and then locked us in a closet for '7 minutes in heaven' or whatever and we just decided to leave." Dan piped in. I nodded.

"Wow, saucy." Zoe said sarcastically.

"I know right." I played along, propping my feet up on the coffee table. "Do you guys want to put on a movie and I'll get some snacks?" I asked. They all agreed and I got up from my spot, taking my tea with me. I took a sip before setting it down on the counter and pulling a bag of microwave popcorn from the pantry. I popped it in the microwave and leaned against the counter, watching it spin in the light. It was rather dark in here and I just didn't bother with the lights.

"Hey." I jumped slightly at the sound of Dan's voice.

"Oh, hey." I said, repositioning myself against the counter comfortably.

"Just out of curiosity, why did you come to all those parties?" he asked. That must've been what he wanted to ask. I wonder why he didn't ask then.

"Not really sure. Most of the time it was Phil saying I should show you up and look gorgeous or whatever, and that didn't end well or I just figured I go so you wouldn't pester me." I said.

"You know you didn't have to come." he said.

"Yeah, I know." I said, drifting off. There was a silence as we watched the popcorn begin to pop.

"Hey, do you remember when I was drunk that one time?" he asked. I looked over at him in the darkness. (The chapter towards the beginning called Drunk.)

"Yeah I do." I said as my throat constricted. I remember as clear as day; him touching my scars, asking me why I reject him, telling me he loves me, and falling asleep with me. All because of a simple setback to his brain. Alcohol make people do crazy things. We use it as an excuse to protect ourselves and others.

"Do you remember me touching your scars?" he pressed. I felt my lip quiver slightly and I hoisted myself to sit on the counter.

"Yeah." I said, quietly, as it was now much harder to breath with the pain in my chest, weighing me down.

"I'm sorry." he breathed. Where was all this coming from?!

"That's okay." I replied.

"No, it's not. Everyday I spend with you is making me realize my mistakes, no matter how little and I want to make it up to you." he said. I stayed quiet, watching the last minute of the microwaves countdown. He was silent as well and as I snuck a peek at him, I noticed him watching my legs. I was wearing shorts for my pajamas as it was warm and I realized that was a wrong decision. Was that why he was bringing it up? The talk of his partying as well?

"Okay." I murmured, but he still overheard and turned to look back at me.

"I don't mean to be weird or intrusive but can I see them?" he asked, like he had that night. I couldn't really tell if now was different or not, but I nodded and pulled up the hem of my shorts. most of the time I forget they're there as they don't hurt and Dan isn't a constant reminder anymore. The microwave beeped and I was about to get up, but Dan placed a hand on my leg, his thumb brushing over the red markings in my skin. I felt goosebumps rise all over my skin and he noticed looking up at me. "I'm so sorry. to even think I did this to you kills me, so much that you couldn't imagine." he said. His face was contorted, eyebrows furrowed, over all just sad and pained.

"It's okay Dan. I'm not mad. I'm just glad you want to be a better person now and that you're here, in my life." I said, placing my hands on either side of his face. His face changed again to a new and hard to read expression. His eyes were wide and watching me.

"Hey are you guys comi--" Phil stopped in the doorway to look at us. It most definitely looked suspicious, my hands wrapped around his face and his hand still on my leg. My shorts were still pulled up and he was stood between my legs.

"Yeah, we'll be there." I said, hopping down off the counter. I slid down against Dan and anxiously grabbed the bowl to hold the popcorn.

"Okay then." Phil nodded. I watched Dan and Phil exchange glances and he disappeared. I poured out the popcorn, keeping my back to Dan, very clearly embarrassed. I felt a hand pulled down at my shorts and I whipped around, a few pieces of popcorn flying to the floor.

"Wha--" I called. Dan was, startled.

"Sorry, your shorts were just rolled up in the back." he said sheepishly.

"Okay good. I was worried you were just feeling up my ass." I said blatantly. He snorted as well as me. "Sorry that was abrupt." I said.

"It's fine, let's just go huh?" he suggested. I nodded and laughed, my face still warm with embarrassment.

I sat myself down next to Dan and I glanced over at Phil who was watching me with his eyebrows raised. There was a smirk on his face and Zoe was giving him an odd look. I shot him a glare and he started the movie, still grinning wildly. Sometimes I really wonder what I'm doing with my life and if what I do are smart actions. I glanced over at Dan, smiling a little.

I think so.

Hey.

Stay awesome!
