We Come Alive 3

Team Meeting

Tuesday morning bright and early, Ethan got out of his car and dragged his book bag on the ground as he walked through the parking lot and to the athletic building. He didn't talk to anyone as his eyes were squinted and his body was exhausted. Luckily, today all the team had to do were their team meetings.

Ethan walked inside and instantly went to the locker room. When he walked in, he saw clover sitting in a desk chair on her phone, Jose and Colby talking in the corner of the room, Jacob was on his phone along the wall, Stephen was sitting on the benches and leaning on his locker with a SnapBack over his eyes while he slept, and Diego, and some of the other boys trying to put gummy worms into Stephen's mouth while he slept.

Ethan ignored everyone as he went to his locker, opened it up, and threw his bag inside. He looked to his left and saw Jose walking up to him. His cheeks were red and his arms were shaking. Ethan knew that look all to well.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Ethan wondered.

Jose just let out a deep breath. "Umm...nothing, I mean....something but I just need you to call a team meeting when I give you a signal."

Ethan just nodded his head agreeing with the plan as Jose walked off towards Jacob. He gently tapped his arm, careful not to knock the phone out of Jacob's hand and onto the concrete floor.

"Hey, real quick." Jose breathed. "You won, I'll pay you the rest when I get it." He whispered to him, going into his pocket and handing Jacob some money.

Jacob frowned as he watched a nervous Jose walk off. Jacob looked at the money in his hand, counted it, and realized it was $75 cash. He quickly looked up to Jose who nodded his head to Ethan as he stood up on one of the movable benches.

"Hey!" Ethan yelled out, banging on the lockers. "Team meeting! Listen up!"

The entire locker room fell silent before all of their eyes landed on Jose. The boys who were either sleeping or half asleep woke up and payed attention. All 53 players stared at Jose. He looked around and faced the people he's been friends with for the last 4 years of his life, the people he strongly considered his family.

"Okay...ummmm...." Jose let out a deep sigh. "I guess I'm just gonna get right to it...I won't beat around the bush. There's something I need, I want you all to know. And that something is...." Jose let out a deep breath as he felt his heart racing. His arms begun to shake and his eyes begun to water knowing there was no going back.

"I'm bisexual." He confessed. "I like guys."

Jose closed his eyes tightly as he didn't speak a word.  But sadly, neither did his teammates. Jose looked up and saw them all just looking around at each other.

"I'm dating Colby." Jose whispered, knowing all of them could hear him. "For about two months now."

Everyone looked back at Colby who was standing there smiling at Jose. He was leaning his back against the lockers as he looked at his boyfriend with pride, knowing how hard it was to come out to the ones you loved, scared of rejection.

Suddenly, Jose heard a scoff. He looked over and saw Stephen sitting there.

"You think we didn't already know that?" Stephen scoffed again. "You two flirt with each other all day everyday on the field. We're not blind, we just don't care."

"Ummm..." Diego spoke out obnoxiously. "Today's the 21st! So yeah some of us care! I won!" He laughed.

All of the players groaned as they went into their wallets and pulled out money. They all passed the money down to Diego as Jose stood there shocked.

"You had a bet pool going on for when I came out?!" Jose gasped. "What?!"

"Yeah." Clover groaned, handing Diego $10 as he walked around the locker room to collect his money. "I had $200 in the bag if you waited until first game day."

Jose chuckled and rolled his eyes as he hopped down off the bench. The moment his feet hit the ground, he saw Colby walking up to him. Colby didn't say anything to Jose as he grabbed his hips and kissed him.

"Get a room!"

"Not in the locker room!"

"Come on! Calm down with all that!"

"Come out the closet and don't know how to act."

Jose just laughed as he pulled away as he heard the coaches coming into the locker room. Mateo frowned as he looked at all of them.

"Why're y'all yelling like y'all lost y'all's damn minds." He wondered, crossing his arms.

"Jose and Colby are dating and they started making out." Ethan blurted out, eating some of the gummy worms that they were going to use to put into Stephen's mouth.

Mateo raised his eyebrows and nodded. "Great, anyway we have to get this first order of business over with right now. Team captains. Head captain and two co-captains. Who's it gonna be? Someone nominate someone."

"I nominate Clover for captain." Diego called out. "She keeps us in line."

Mateo nodded. "All those in favor, say aye."

Clover smiled widely as she heard all the boys speak up,

"Aye."

Mateo nodded to her. "You get to choose your co-captains."

Clover spun around in her desk chair. "The lovely couple. Jose and Colby."

Mateo smirked as he looked at Colby with his arm wrapped around Jose's shoulders. "Don't mix business and pleasure, boys."

Jose smiled as he looked up at Colby and kissed his cheek. "Sir, yes, sir."
