"What, Simmons?" Coulson asked in confusion. Jemma winced, not wanting to be called Simmons without a Fitz there. Coulson was stressed out as it was, having to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. and all. Why was his best and only scientist wanting to leave to a deserted S.H.I.E.L.D. academy?

"I said, I want to fly to the S.H.I.E.L.D. training academy." Jemma stated confidently.

"Yes, I know that's what you said. Why?" Coulson replied as he began to look over papers about the layout of the first new S.H.I.E.L.D. building.

"I want to trace the roots of Leo's feelings for me," She tried really hard to not let her voice crack, but it happened. She cleared her throat. "It might help me to realize-"

"Okay," Coulson cut her off, not letting her continue to fall into a sorrow by having to explain everything.

"Okay?" Jemma asked in surprise.

"Yeah. I will need you back in about a month to help with the science industry of S.H.I.E.L.D. But pack your bags, and I'll tell Hill to prepare you a flight."

"Thank you, sir." Jemma replied genuinely. "I hope I will be able to work things through before then.". She stood to leave his office. She was halfway out the door when she stopped.

"Jemma," Coulson called to her. She turned around to face him. "I know this will be confusing for you," She nodded. "But I need you to keep an open mind and heart. You can cry about it at first, sure. But there comes a point when you need to decide. I know a month is a bit brief, and I'm sorry that's all I can give you. I hope you can work things out."

Jemma smiled slightly and walked through the door and to her pod, where she furiously packed her belongings, her few belongings, into a duffel bag. She considered it a moment, then ran through Leo's room, too, grabbing some of her old university clothes she had found in his bottom drawer and his little super-flashlight he kept on the shelf. She got in and out before she could connect anything in the room with any memories or emotion.

She walked over to the ramp of the Bus. The last time she had been here, she was without Leo for the first time. She swallowed hard, and made her way down the ramp without a single tear shed. There in the landing space was a helicopter Agent Hill had called for Jemma. She hopped in and gave the young pilot agent a small greeting smile, before throwing her duffel to the floor and fastening herself to the seat furiously.

She hated helicopters. When she could feel every pulse of the air swooping all around the small metal compartment that contained her, she wished Leo was there, telling her things will be alright. So she just imagined him strapped in right next to her, like the time she had confronted him about Triplet on the plane. He had said he just didn't like change.

Well. Jemma didn't like this change, either.
