I almost died today. And I should be traumatized. But I'm not. I think part of it has to do with the stress neurons still building up, but I feel like it might actually be Fitz. I'd rather it was me that jumped than him, anyways.

If I'm not back alive, which I suppose there is a little chance of me dying on this mission, but still, if I don't come back, I hope you find this note. Please, break it to my mom softly. She already lost dad. I can't imagine losing all of your family. I kind of consider you family, sometimes. Other times I consider you more than that. I'd rather not tell you on paper. We'll probably have to talk sometime.

5. Dear Future Simmons,
I hope you're still a rule-follower in the future. Today I disobeyed orders for the first time. I shot my superior officer. I don't really like this rule-breaking. It's really uncomfortable for me. But I only wanted to see the level 7 files on Fitz and Ward's mission. I didn't mean any harm. S.H.I.E.L.D. sent them in without a retrieval plan! I'm sure there was a purpose to this, but Coulson flew us all to pick them up ourselves. I'm very thankful.

We would like to request vacation time. Fitz and I think it will be beneficial for the team to stop by familiar places. We know it's against protocol to visit families, but perhaps a trip to our places of training? The Academies? Please consider it.

Do you have a husband yet? Sometimes I feel so alone, in that area. Romance, although notedly impractical and nearly biologically impossible, is what I'm most desperate for right now. I've resorted to watching silly romantic comedies in my space free time. It's a good thing Fitz will sit and watch with me. I wish there were more kind, intelligent gentlemen like Fitz.
