Quick Note: I only really wrote this because it needed to be written for me to publish the next chapter. Somewhat of a prediction for "How to Make Friends and Influence People".

"But I'm not a field agent," Jemma protested for the fifth time. The Englishman was telling her she needed to go out with a team to retrieve the first 0-8-4 object from former Hydra scientist Raina.

"You're thinking too much like a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. In Hydra, everyone is a field agent." Simmons opened her mouth to point out a flaw in the strategy, but closed it before she could actually speak. Obedience was something she had learned here. If you follow the rules to their faces, they wouldn't suspect you to break them behind their backs.

So Simmons found herself in the back of a Hydra truck, dressed in Hydra wear and brandishing a pistol. She couldn't help but feel like a fish out of water. She wasn't supposed to be a soldier. She was supposed to be a scientist.

For the entirety of the ride to the mystery location, Simmons prayed her team wouldn't also be there. Although, ever since she had replicated a Hydra serum she had found in the databases, she had been searching for an opportunity to give it to them. The serum, already loaded into a device similar to the one Fitz had designed for her antiserum, rested in her left chest pocket, ready for immediate use.

The truck stopped, and an officer went down the line, individually instructing each of them where to go. Simmons' heart stopped when she overheard the officer ordering the soldiers next to her.

"There is a third party here, with at least two gifteds, and Director Coulson himself. Take the shot the first chance you get." Her stomach clenched. They were here. She had to find a way to get the serum to them.

"Simmons!" an officer shouted her way. Jemma made the mandatory salute weakly, getting more anxious by the second. "We have a special task for you. You were a member of Coulson's hand picked team, correct?"

Jemma nearly didn't answer. They were going to make her into another Ward. "Yes sir," she managed. The next words were the ones she dreaded to hear most.

"You are tasked to personally assassinate Phillip Coulson. Am I clear?" Her heart sunk. She knew from the instant the order left his mouth that she wouldn't be obeying. This was her last day at Hydra.

"Yes sir," she forced out before the officer could get too suspicious.

"And you should know that if you fail to comply, I will personally eliminate you." Chills went down her spine. She needed to get back to S.H.I.E.L.D.

The officer pushed her out of the truck with only brief instructions, and Simmons sprinted inside the facility. Taking the memorized turns, she found herself in bland hallways full of labs and offices.

Soon she stumbled, out of breath, into a final hallway. This one was supposed to lead into Raina's office, where Coulson, and possibly other friends, were supposed to be. Just as she was going to enter the room, a confused voice spoke from behind her.

"Jemma?" he asked. Her hand froze on the door knob. Emotion began to wave over her as she recognized Fitz. Knowing the threatening officer would be there soon, she whipped around quickly, not letting herself feel too much. In a swift motion, she had pulled the serum out, raised it to his neck, and pulled the trigger.

He stumbled back, uttering an 'ouch' before falling unconscious. Jemma could barely lift him, yet she managed to drag his limp body into an empty office on the opposite side of the hall, apologizing the whole time, though she knew he couldn't hear her.

She didn't let herself process her actions. All she could think about were the footsteps approaching her. She spun around, opening the door and raising her gun at the same time. Don't let your petty feelings get in the way. It's time to be logical.

"Simmons." Director Coulson didn't sound surprised. "You didn't think I wouldn't find out?" he followed up quickly. He had known for a long time. May looked disappointed. Skye and Triplet looked shocked. Jemma held her aim, beginning to break down internally. Other Hydra agents filed into the office. She only hoped her team would save her.

"He's across the hall," she whispered quickly, seeing her team's expressions change. They knowingly got into a stance to defend themselves. "Please, help me," she yelped tearfully as she made her final decision.

Simmons made eye contact with Coulson as she dropped the gun. Almost instantaneously, she heard another gun fire, and pain pierced into her shoulder, and spread to the rest of her like fire. Her vision grew black, and the last thing she could remember was dropping to the floor as action swirled around her.
