Quick Note: So I know we're all nervous for the next episode starting in like twenty minutes, so I decided to write the best-possible scenario so you can calm down. I literally wrote this in twenty minutes, so sorry if it's not good.

"Something's wrong," Coulson states the obvious. They were on top of the city, back in a small Latin community teeming with celebration, and the underground city should have blown up by now. The explosives were all set, ready to go, and Mack and Fitz were guiding the dwarves around the shafts, analyzing what could possibly have happened.
"Sir, the connection's gone. Hydra must have gotten down there and destroyed the receptors," Fitz informed the director. Hydra had followed the Bus to the city.
"We need to set them off manually," added Mack.
"Manually?" Simmons scoffed. "That's a suicide mission! There's no rhyme or reason to when the riggings could go off. It's too dangerous, sir."
"Hydra finding the secrets buried underneath is more dangerous. Find a way."
The team looked around at each other, waiting for Fitzsimmons to announce some sort of solution. Skye bit her lip and stared at the ground.
"I'll do it," Fitz stepped forward, hand raised.
"Fitz, no," Simmons refused to consider that. Mack objected, too. "We'll find another way."
"We're wasting time," Fitz argued, walking towards the edge of the group. He looked so serious. "I'm willing to do it, and it needs to be done."
"Fitz, I won't allow that," Coulson said, eyes quivering slightly.
"Simmons and I'll work on an alternative. Maybe we can trick a Hydra member into doing it for us, or one of the dwarves," Mack kept talking, in fear that if he stopped, Fitz would be hurt. Simmons simply stared at her best friend sadly. She already knew his decision.
He nodded in agreement, then crossed the circle to where Mack was monitoring the dwarves.
The team watched over their shoulders as they reviewed each rigging.
Then, before Simmons knew what was happening, Fitz had cupped her head and pulled her close to him. In an instant they were together, and she was kissing him back.
"I had to do it at least once," Fitz whispered apologetically once they had broken apart, but foreheads still pressed against each other's. She nodded, the tears streaming down her face already. She gripped his arm, trying anything she could to get him to stay.
The team was swirling around them, confused as to what was happening, when Fitz broke the crowd and sprinted through the marketplace back to the ruins where the underground city could be entered.
"You let him go?" Simmons was being shouted at as she continued to cry, Skye comforting her as much as she could.
Minutes later the explosion sounded. An hour later Fitz returned, charred and deaf in one ear.
"You're a bloody idiot!" Simmons shouted as soon as he appeared out of the rubble. She ran up to him and embraced him tightly, also attacking him with her flailing hands.
"Don't ever do that again, or I swear I'll..." She stopped and took a moment to see no shame in his face. He would do it again in a heartbeat, if it meant saving Simmons.
They mutually pulled each other as close as possible, crashing their lips together. Simmons' hands wound up into his ash-filled hair, needing him closer, while Fitz kept his hands on her waist, still shocked she was actually with him.
"Don't worry, Simmons, I'm not going to do that ever again," Fitz promised, breathing hard as Simmons continued kissing up and around his face.
"I'm so mad at you, just shut up!" Simmons shouted back, emotions still running high, then covered his mouth with hers again.
"Science love is weird," Skye commented to Trip, both watching the lovely scene.
"You know it."
