"Jemma, you did not." Fitz exclaimed.

"Happy birthday!" Jemma replied as she backed away from the kennel sitting on the kitchen table next to a bushel of bananas.

"A monkey?" Fitz asked her.

"No, Fitz, I bought a potato and put it in a kennel." Jemma replied sarcastically as she held up a video camera.

Fitz ignored the comment and opened the kennel door. A tiny capuchin monkey whimpered softly and crawled out. Fitz held out his hand and the monkey hesitantly pawed at it.

"Where'd you get him?" Fitz asked as he moved his hand around the capuchin slightly.

"Her. They said the girl would be sweeter. And I got her from a special arrangement with Coulson." Jemma replied, circling around the table to get a better angle for the video she was taking. "What are you going to name her?"

Fitz reached out and tapped the small thing on its head, much to its disapproval. It flung an arm up and hit Fitz's hand gently. He pulled away. "Ouch. What's your second favorite female Harry Potter character? I know your favorite is Hermione, but that takes too long to say. Our kids wouldn't be able to say it until they were at least five." he replied and smiled, not looking up from the new pet.

"You mean the kids that we don't have? Fitz, you do realize how messy children are, right?"

"Yeah, and monkeys are messy, too." Fitz replied, smirking slightly. Jemma sighed happily. "We're having kids. Now your second favorite Harry Potter character?"

"Probably Luna." Jemma said.

"Hi, little Luna!" Fitz cooed at the monkey. "Oh I like that. Little Luna. I should start training her to fetch me tools and sneak through lasers. And disarm explosives. That would make her extremely useful."

"Is this what you plan on doing with our kids, too?" Jemma started shakily laughing, as though she actually considered that a possibility. She knew that Fitz would be a lovely father.

"No. I won't teach the kids that until at least age sixteen. Maybe fifteen if I trust them." he joked, nudging Luna back into her kennel then circling around the table to Jemma.

"Then I get to teach them to create explosive reactions before then." Jemma bantered.

"So does this mean we'll actually be parents someday?" he asked seriously.

"Actually, Fitz, I need to tell you something." Jemma said, sitting them down.

"I hope it's a boy." Fitz replied, already knowing what was happening by using his 'Fitzsimmons telepathy'.

"I'm supposed to tell you first, Fitz! You've ruined this!" Jemma jokingly yelled, then slammed her video camera shut.

Fitz's eyes widened in excitement. "Wait so you're really pregnant right now? There is really another human being in there?" he asked as he poked her stomach. "No offense Jemma, but that's kind of making me sick! Like it will come out of you covered with blood and mucus membrane! Isn't that gross?"

Jemma rolled her eyes. But Fitz continued his rant on the disgust of the miracle of life. "Not to mention what it'll do to your body, Jemma. It'll make you-"

Jemma cut him off by pressing her lips to his. "It's going to be fine, Fitz." she assured him. "We will be excellent parents. Just imagine us sitting by a cradle, reading Harry Potter to a tiny version of us. Imagine us designing a Doctor Who-themed nursery. Imagine us walking around the S.H.I.E.L.D. gardens with a stroller containing the person we each love most."

Fitz leaned forward and gave Jemma another relaxed kiss. "I love you." he said genuinely.

"I love you, too, monkey man." she replied sincerely with a smile.
