"He's... Scottish?" questioned Simmons in a frail voice once the special had finished. Her face was still wet from the regeneration scene.
"That's cool," Fitz managed to sound half excited, but he was also choking back tears. Jemma was still shaking cross-legged on the floor, her hands muffling her whimpers.
Fitz sat down next to her and wrapped an arm around her. She stayed still, continuing to cry loudly.
"Simmons," Fitz tried to comfort her, but she ignored him. "Simmons," he repeated, then moved her hair out of her face. "Jemma," he said finally, and she looked up, tears filling her eyes to the brim.
"Jemma," Fitz repeated again softly, innocently. She was so upset and so, so close. He had to shake thoughts out of his head before he could really help her.
And it became extremely difficult once Jemma had grabbed hold of his sweater and pressed her head into his neck. She was practically on top of him at this point, and it was, to say the least, distracting.
"Jemma, it's okay. I mean, it's terrible but there's going to be a new start. Matt had his time like David did, and Capaldi will have his time next. We can't possibly know if twelve will be as great, but what if he ends up being our favorite? What if you look back on this episode and smile?"
Jemma remained silent save for her crying.
"Jemma, please be happy. It's Christmas," Fitz pleaded in a whisper, then ran a hand through her hair. "We have food," he tried, and she buried her face deeper.
Others would tell her crying over a character was ridiculous, but Fitz let her grieve for at least an hour before moving on.
"Okay, my legs are falling asleep," Fitz whispered once she had stopped quaking. She repositioned herself away from him and smiled shyly.
"Sorry, that was uncalled for," she said with a sad look. "I mean, it's just a television show."
"That doesn't mean your feelings aren't valid," Fitz replied, then placed a featherlight kiss to her temple. He didn't make a huge deal out of it and continued, "Let's go eat out feelings."
Simmons laughed and stood, and Fitz followed her to their kitchen area to eat cold dinner.
"Doctor Who is really emotional," Jemma sighed, then shoveled three spoonfuls of potatoes onto her plate.
"I know," Fitz responded, then brushed right cookies onto his plate and shoved another one in his mouth.
Spitting crumbs everywhere, Fitz continued, "Lots of feelings to eat."

Merry Christmas everyone!
