Quick Note: I've decided this takes place before Angels take Manhattan, but after the Doctor leaves Amy and Rory for the first time. During those few years the Doctor would occasionally drop in on their lives and take them on an adventure.
I saw Angels take Manhattan in the middle of writing this and didn't feel like changing it all so...
**SLIGHT DOCTOR WHO SPOILERS**
---------------------------------------------
"Can we meet Amy and Rory now?" Jemma asked for the umpteenth time. Like a child on a road trip, asking if we're there yet.
"No." the Doctor replied simply. He was tired of arguing, for the first time in his life, probably.
"Why?" Fitz asked from the other side of him. The two were good at annoying people into doing things for them.
"I don't make a habit out of introducing my current companions to my former companions." the Doctor replied.
"Why?" Jemma asked from the Doctor's right.
"Because they can get jealous, or think I've replaced them. Especially Amelia."
"Why?" Fitz asked from the Doctor's left.
"Because I left them, and now I've picked up you two, a Scot and a Brit who loves human anatomy!" He had raised his voice.
"Why?" Jemma asked again from his right, grinning.
"Why indeed!" the Doctor shouted. "You two have been a complete nuisance to me ever since I picked you up. You steal my lines!" he yelled at Jemma. "And you are the coward that lets her do it!" he yelled at Fitz. "Now if I wasn't me, I would bring you both back to where you were in your timeline!"
Jemma returned from her shameful cowering. "But...?" she prompted.
"But you have broken my argument with your consistent annoyance." The Doctor groaned softly and began to accelerate around the controls, starting up the TARDIS in defeat. "So Ger-"
"-Onimo!" Jemma chorused with a smirk Fitz's way. The Doctor rolled his eyes.
"Don't make me regret this!" he shouted over the ship's starting sounds and rumbling.
---------------------------------------------
"Oh Ponds!" the Doctor called, barely opening the TARDIS door. Amy and Rory had beaten him to the door, though, so he had shouted in their faces accidentally.
"Oh, hello there!" he greeted them at a more appropriate voice level, giving them each a bizarre kiss on the head. "How have the Ponds been? Anything new?"
"It's only been five minutes since you left us." Amy replied smartly.
"Really?" the unbelieving Doctor replied, gesturing the couple into the TARDIS. "Must have accidently entered in the wrong coordinates..." he said mischievously. "On purpose." he added as he and the Ponds came face-to-face with Fitzsimmons.
"Who're they?" Amy asked immediately. Jemma was awestruck, gripping onto Fitz's arm and cutting off his bloodstream.
"Ow!" he told her.
"Sorry!" Jemma apologized, releasing her grip on him.
"Ah, that's Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz. They're traveling with me." the Doctor explained to Fitzsimmons.
"So, our replacements?" Amy replied quickly.
"Amy, calm down." Rory said, then grabbed her hand.
The three started a heated conversation about the Doctor's new companions in comparison to Amy and Rory. It turned negative quickly, and Fitzsimmons stopped following the rapid fire comments about their hair and shoes and accents.
"Fitz!" Jemma harshly whispered. "That's Amelia Pond! The girl who waited! And that's the Lone Centurion, Rory Williams! And they're not d-"
"Shut up!" Fitz interrupted before anyone could hear. "Spoilers!" he said in a fairly accurate Riversong voice. Jemma laughed.
"What are you two talking about?" the Doctor asked, suddenly intrigued by their conversation. "Have you met Professor Riversong?"
"Yeah, sure." Jemma replied, not wanting to have to explain exactly how she knew about Riversong.
"How is my daughter?" Amy inquired.
"Fine." Jemma replied, again not wanting to go into detail.
"How about-" Rory began.
"I'd rather not talk about the future." Jemma said with a smile.
"Good girl, Jemma." the Doctor praised. "Time can be rewritten, but not if you've already read it. If you know your future, it is inevitably going to happen."
"So don't read ahead." Jemma said, directing a very serious look towards Amy in particular. Silence took over the room as everyone stared at one another awkwardly.
"Fish sticks and custard, anyone?" the Doctor offered. A chorus of agreement followed, and the Doctor pulled out the bowl from underneath the controls.
The five people made their way over to the stairs, where they sat and ate the odd, savory-sweet combo.
"He's still wearing a bow tie, then?" Amy asked Jemma as she plopped down next to her. Jemma was at first too starstruck to speak.
"Uh, yeah. Bow ties are cool." she replied. Amy laughed, and eventually, after serious self doubt, Jemma did, too.
"Ad the fez?" Amy asked.
"He was wearing it when he picked us up. Said he wore a fez now." Amy rolled her eyes. The girls laughed together again.
Once they had quieted down, Jemma glanced over to where Fitz was failing at talking to Rory. Fitz was so socially challenged. Amy followed her gaze to Fitz and smirked.
"You two dating?" she asked.
"What? Fitz and I?" Jemma replied, not braking her careful stare. "We're just friends." she finished.
Amy carefully observed Jemma's facial features. "No you're not." she stated.
"What?" Jemma broke her gaze and whipped her head around to Amy. "What do you mean?"
"Look, I didn't know I had a thing for Rory until Melody- er- Riversong mentioned it. Immediately after he ran out I realized I loved him back." Jemma dreaded what Amy would inevitably say next. She had convinced herself she did not have feelings for Fitz. Everyone always assumed that at first, and for a moment each time she'd start to believe it.
"Now Jemma, I think you love him." Jemma opened her mouth to object, but Amy cut her off. "I know you'll do anything to deny it, but it's quite obvious to me and to everyone that you two are meant to be together. And I'm just being honest." Jemma was left speechless again, but for a different reason. What Amy was saying was one hundred percent true. She was in love with Fitz.
