Michael's POV
"Mom! I'm going out real quick. I'll be right back," I yell from my room, slipping on a random sweatshirt and quickly fixing my hair in the mirror. I grab my backpack. Right as I am about to walk out of my room, my mom shows up.
"No you aren't. You sound like you're dying, and you have a 103 degree fever," she tells me. I sigh. I have to go.
"But mo..."
"No. You need to get back in bed and relax. Whatever you need to go do can wait," I'm scolded. I can't waist any more time. I don't know what's wrong with Bella, but something is.
"One of my friends is in trouble," I tell her, and she raises an eyebrow.
"Really?" she asks, and I show her my phone. She smiles.
"Aww. Her name has a heart next to it," my mom coos, smiling at me.
"Mom I really need to go," I try to push through, but she is still blocking the doorway.
"How did you plan on getting there? And where are you even going?" she questions. At least I'm possibly making progress.
"I was going to ride my bike," I answer honestly, running a hand through my hair.
"There's no way you're going to ride your bike," she crosses her arms.
"Bu...," I start to protest, but she holds her hand up.
"I wasn't done yet. There's no way you're going to ride your bike because I'm going to drive you there."
---
"Be back out here in 20 minutes," my mom commands me. I hop out of the car and nod.
"Of course," I respond, throwing the backpack over my shoulder. I quickly walk onto the school campus even though school already got out. Several clubs are still here, including academic league. I head over to the library where it takes place. As soon as I walk in, all of the boys look at me along with Mrs. Martin.
"He finally shows up," Jon laughs as he turns around.
"Have you seen Bella? She went missing mid day," Mrs. Martin asks with wide, worried eyes. Not even her mom knows where she is.
"No. She texted me when I was sleeping, and now she won't respond," I answer honestly, running a hand through my hair out of stress.
"Michael you sound horrible," Andrew laughs, but I glare at him.
"Yeah I stayed home because I'm sick," I tell him, looking around. Neither Brady or Drew are in here.
"Brady and Drew are out looking for her," Dorian seemingly reads my mind. I nod.
"I'll tell you if I find her," I let them know before turning out of the library.
---
It's already been thirty minutes, and I can't find her. I went and told my mom, and she told me that she'd come back to pick me up after she picks Patrick up.
I've asked everyone I've come across if they know where Bella is, but they've all ignored me since I'm part of "Drew's crew" as they like to call it. Since everyone worships the other group, everyone discards us, but it's nice at times. People don't bug you as much.
At the same time, people always send glares and murmur stuff about us under their breath. It's fine though. It just helps our group stay tighter together.
"Michael," I hear someone say from down the hallway. Courtney comes rushing over with her cheer bag over her shoulder. She looks ecstatic.
"Hey Courtney. Do you know where Bella is?" I ask hopefully. She could've seen where she went.
"The last time I saw her today, she was going up to the roof with Sara and Miles," she informs me, and my heart physically drops. Sara and Miles, the two worst people I know of, should not be alone with Bella. Ever.
"Okay, thank you so much. You're a lifesaver," I smile before turning to rush towards the roof. It's my best chance at the moment. It's the only lead I have.
"Wait, do you know where Brady is?" she asks right before I am going to walk away. I turn back around.
"He's with Drew somewhere. Why?" I question with a small smile on my face.
"I just had to tell him something, but it can wait," she responds, and I head out to the roof.
---
"Oh Bella," I hum as soon as I see her. She is sitting up here crying her eyes out, tears cascading down her face.
"Michael," she sniffles, looking up at me. Her face is bright red, her eyes puffy.
"What happened?" I ask softly, wrapping my arms around her. She just stares up at me.
"You're so sick. You shouldn't be here," she frowns, looking at me with concern.
"Bella what happened?" I quietly ask her. She rests her head on my shoulder.
"Sara happened. It's always Sara," she whispers.
"Shh it's okay. We all know Sara is a jerk. Don't listen to whatever she told you," I try to convince her.
"It was just like before I moved schools," she cries, wrapping her arms around me. "I felt alone. She made me feel isolated, like no one wants me. It's like she took everything around me and left me stranded."
"Bella don't ever feel like that. She just lives off of tormenting people," I say.
"It just reminded me of back then. I went into a trance," she buries her head in my sweatshirt.
"You don't have to think of whatever happened back then. It's all good now," I rest my head on top of hers.
"Yes it is."
Surprise surprise, puppy surprise.
