i want to take a sample of everything in this world and place it in a small box, separate but together, a drop of water from each river, a grain of sand from each volleyball pit, a rock from each gently-sloped hillside, a smile from the face of every person who has ever smiled, the cry of every newborn baby taking up terabytes on a leaning tower audio filing cabinet, a list of the most beautiful words and the most filthy from every language, a feather that could have been from the quill of a king's inkwell, a piece of the lowest currency available in every country, a piece of radioactive fallout from every bombing, a disposed needle from every hospital, the sound of the world's laughter toppling the charts alone, a key from every model of keyboard ever made, a key from every lock ever constructed, a blade of grass from each grassy knoll, the first breath everyone takes on record, time calculated with significant figures in the hundredths of seconds, onward and upwards, hidden but known, guinness in my hand (the book or the beer?) i'll stand taller than mount everest, mister fahrenheit can't beat me now, me with my compartments upon compartments upon compartments, however the deepest part of me wishes to be able to salvage this current feeling even though i know it is impossible, this current washes over me, exfoliating emotions, granulated oceans, it is ephemeral but so am i.
