Sorry it took me a minute to get this out, I've been travelling so it's been a bit chaotic haha
Name: Keiko Benn Azuma (Her Mother wanted to pass on her surname, Benn, to the next generation, hence the reason why Keiko has Benn as a middle name)
I like the explanation of the middle name, it always adds a bit more to the character, in my opinion.Age: 17
Gender: Female
Nationality: Half-Japanese and half-American
Personality: Keiko is a mature and responsible girl, who usually tries to keep a level head during any situation. Most of the time, she'll attempt to take control of a situation in order to stay calm. She's a very leader-like person who finds it easy to interact and work together with others. Yet she thinks it's difficult to work without people and prefers to work with others rather than by herself. Whenever somebody she's working with has a problem, she'll try to make them feel better by encouraging or comforting them. She's hard-working and ambitious. She has a strong sense of perseverance and is a person who wouldn't stop working until she reached her goal.
Keiko can be a very hot-headed person if someone provokes her. When angry, she'll lash out at whoever or whatever upset her. But usually she gets over these fits of rage pretty quickly, and may apologise to whoever she cursed at. If she believes whatever they did was wrong, she'll wait for them to apologise instead. She's quite stubborn, she refuses to listen to anybody else's orders and it would take quite a bit for her to be willing to listen to someone's orders. Keiko is also arrogant at times, and she's described as a bit of a narcissist. She tends to brag about her accomplishments to new people she comes across. Keiko's a perfectionist, who holds high standards for herself, and, occasionally, others. I like that she takes control to stay calm, it's an interesting idea! I also like the addition of her hot-headedness, though considering how sociable she seems to be, I feel like she wouldn't get angry so fast. Her openness and ability to communicate well enough that she draws people to her would usually indicate a person with a lot of patience, especially considering her talent. I do like her stubbornness and that her leader-like qualities have moved to the point where she doesn't listen to others. She's a well-rounded character!Appearance: Keiko is 5'4 and has a slim figure. She has fair white skin, which mostly has no blemishes. Keiko's eyes have a slightly narrow shape and are a dark hazel colour. Her eyes also have eye bags under them, but they're only noticeable if you look closely at her face. Her hair is light brown. She styles her hair as a braid that drapes over her right shoulder. Keiko has a hairpin that looks like a clapperboard in her hair. Her outfit consists of a dress, jacket and, obviously, shoes. Her jacket is made of black leather which has pockets. Unlike other leather jackets, Keiko's doesn't have any silver decorations on it, and she usually leaves it unzipped instead of closed. She has a two-piece dress. The top is similar to a white tank top and the bottom is a red circle skirt which goes down to an inch above her knees. Her shoes are a pair of simple black flats.
The only thing I would say is that the uniform is a bit simple. Going for the clapperboard hair clip and leather jacket is a great start, but maybe adding some things that would show her Talent more would be good! (I know I'm saying this when my own oc is very simply designed, talk about hypocritical lol)Sexuality: Demisexual. Keiko considers her career to be more important than romance. It would take a lot for her to fall for someone.
I love that!Backstory: Keiko was born to a Japanese man and an American woman, who both worked in the film industry. Her Father was the executive producer of several movies and her Mother was an actress. Due to their busy carreers, they had little to no time to spend with their child. Keiko spent most of her childhood with multiple nannies and babysitters. When Keiko enrolled into an all girls middle school at age 12, she joined the drama club. She tries acting, but failed heavily at it. Then, she decided to try her hand at helping direct the plays. She was much better at it then she thought she would be. So much so that she was eventually able to write her own original play for the drama club to perform. This play helped her school gain more recognition. She began directing and creating more plays for her club. When Keiko was 14, she was given an offer to be able to go to a film school. Ecstatic, she accepted.
Keiko transferred into the new school, looking forward to the new opportunities. It took her a while to get used to the environment. Shortly after transferring, she began to create short films. These short films received a moderate amount of popularity as she released them. She only submitted them to film and video contests, and she usually was placed in 2nd or 3rd place. Of course, people were still impressed with Keiko's works. They were surprisingly good for a young girl. The public recognised her work, and praised her for being able to create short films at such a young age. As she gained recognition, she gained popularity.
Yet, one day, she stopped releasing short films, which left people confused. After a whole year of no releases from Keiko, a full feature film was released by the girl. She had been busy on creating the film for the past year. This sudden return shocked most people, and people rushed to get tickets for the film released by her.
This movie was hugely successful, and Keiko received multiple awards for it. Along with the awards, Keiko's Talent was noticed by Hope's Peak. She was invited to join the academy, with the title of Ultimate Filmmaker.
Does she specialise in a certain type of film? As far as backstories go, this one is simple and well-written, but I would like to see more influence from the parents. Just saying they did films isn't truly enough to make her want to be a filmmaker. She needs to be influenced by them. Them never being there is a bit strange, unless she has a need to be noticed by her parents and so she's doing filmmaking? Either way, I like her backstory, and the whole idea of her gaining a sort of mainstream cult following for her films is a great addition!Ultimate/SHSL: Filmmaker
