Name: Mirai Akiyama
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Nationality: Japanese
Personality: Mirai is reckless, adventurous and rather uncaring. She does whatever she finds fun, not having any goals on what she wants to do in the future, and she can be very annoying and troublesome for others to handle. She's not too caring and good with others, often forgetting to take into consideration how her actions will affect other people. She's also rather playful, and teases and messes with people a lot, at times taking it to the inconsiderate side but usually its just loud and annoying.
She is generally a decent person though, not a nice and good person, however she's not bad either, she's just an annoying little shit with little to no empathy and care for her own safety. She's rather smart too, and can be manipulative, sarcastic and overall very clever. She can be pretty stubborn and cocky, and very hard to argue with, and she tends to pretend she's pretty much fearless.
I like her personality!Appearance: Mirai has fluffy, shoulder-length white hair that usually has some parts pulled into a ponytail at the back, and green eyes. She wears a black t-shirt with a green hoodie with rolled-up sleeves and cat ears on the hood, over black jeans and green sneakers.
She does have a lot of costume changes, mostly for different jobs, however her style can be affected by her favourite fictional characters, her dream jobs and other interests too. Those usually disappear again in a matter of weeks at most.
As a child she had more curly caramel brown hair, which always had a white ribbon in it, and wore a lot of lolita dresses she had inherited from her mum. Due to Marie Antoinette syndrome, her hair changed to white as a child and has remained that way since, which also made the ribbon blend into her hair so she stopped wearing it.
I really like the reasoning you gave for her hair being white! And her design is nice! I've already mentioned my criticism in Shinji's review so I won't repeat it here hahaSexuality: Unknown
Backstory: When Mirai was one, and her older siblings Sachi and Yoshio were three and four, their parents mysteriously died. The bodies were never found and several questions remained unanswered, but they were declared dead and the kids were sent to live in an orphanage close-by. It was pretty rundown, since the people who worked there didn't actually care much about their job or the kids. Mirai was always pretty nervous and insecure, she struggled a lot socially and found keeping up with the other kids really difficult, so she either was alone on the side or close by her siblings.
The other kids weren't too fond of her either, they avoided her in return and made her feel only more alienated and less like she'd be able to get over her fears and insecurities. She avoided crowded rooms or just anywhere it'd be hard to avoid running into people, which happened to include the kitchen. Since she didn't dare step into it, she kinda needed some workers to actually bring some food to her room, although they only occasionally remembered this.
One day, when climbing in a tree outside she ended up falling down and scratching her knee and elbow. For the first time someone who worked there genuinely cared about what happened to her and took care of her, and she figured the way she could get care, attention and love was through doing dangerous or illegal stuff. This, plus her lack of food, ended up in her getting mixed up with stealing. She had to ignore and repress her insecurities for this though, there was no room for fear in this life and she couldn't think too much anymore, so she just straight-up started ignoring it all.
She started to turn a lot more open and loud, and it was around this time she met a boy her age named Shin Mizushima. She was still rather caring at this time and he seemed upset, so she decided to follow after him and try to cheer him up and be his friend. She soon succeeded, and the two remained close partners for several years, helping each other when needed and just hanging out as friends from time to time too.
When she was eight, however, her siblings left her. Having been stuck in this place or seven years, they were both desperate to get out and it ended up in them being willing to leave behind their little sister, who lost the only two people who were properly taking care of her. This caused a lot of stress, and resulted in her hair turning white from Marie Antoinette Syndrome. She stopped using her white ribbon as it now blended into her hair and decided to stop thinking about the past and just focus on making every day fun and interesting and having an enjoyable life.
She got into conning, tricking people for money was the perfect way for her to be able to save up money for when she had to find a house for herself, and i was extremely fun to find new and exciting ways to trick people. She also did arson on the side, since fire was pretty and cool and she had just always had a special liking for it. She was doing about anything she wanted to at this point, consequences mattered little to her as long as it was fun, she'd just run off when the responsibility and payback came.
At eleven though, the biggest and best change happened. When hanging out in the teachers lounge at the school, she met her homeroom teacher who she hadn't met yet, since she decided to avoid school due to bullying issues. He turned out to be a friend of her parents and her godfather, and upon finally hearing that they were dead he realised he'd have to take her in. Being the former ultimate pyromaniac he was of course not the traditional guardian, but it was perfect for Mirai. Nothing would be able to pull her back to what she once was, a like minded person to live with and be close with was just great for her and she adored being able to live with him.
At fourteen she managed to get herself expelled for framing another student for vandalism. She had wanted to become a detective that day, but no one was doing anything for her to solve so she went ahead and did something herself, then framed it on Hakaru Yukimura, a student she highly disliked. He was a respectful student though, who's dad was the principal of a private high school and far more, and she was Mirai, so it was not hard to figure out who was responsible.
She still just paid Yukimura for a spot in the high school, making her a high school student again by the time everyone was graduating and therefore making her able to be scouted as the ultimate con artist. She rarely attended school even then though, she still just hung out there and did whatever she wanted to, like pretending to be a substitute teacher and nearly blowing up the school, and more.
I really like her backstory, she's a really fleshed-out and fun character and I love all the escapades that she gets into, and the reason she became who she is. It suits her personality a lot and I really like it!Extra info:
- Her throwing away her white ribbon is meant to be the end of her innocence and the main turning point in her life, since white symbolises innocence.
- It's like a tradition in the family that the first born's name starts with Y, the second with S and the third with M, the fourth is open to them to decide for themselves since it's pretty rare to get that far anyways.
I like this!Ultimate: Con artist
Reaction to seeing death: She's uncomfortable with the dead body, although she'll ignore that and get to investigating, since it's a matter of life and death here.
This suits her.Reaction to being accused: She'll remain pretty carefree and unserious, she'll still make jokes and although she'll debate on it, she likely only causes more damage and the convincing is on the protagonist Kyou instead.
How would they kill: Probably an accident, she's not the type to murder anyone, she just watches as others get killed off.
This suits her well!Overall I really like Mirai's character, she's very fun and interesting and I would love to see how she acts in general life or a killing game! Her talent is really suiting to her and her backstory is well-planned and really good!
