Name: Yamamoto Hoshiko
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Nationality: Japanese
Personality: Around others, she's very hyper and outgoing. She requires being around people to have energy, being extremely extroverted. This can be annoying to others, but she tries not to force her way into hanging out with others. She also requires being around others for traits like optimism and confidence. Often she ends up alone and holes up somewhere. The moment she is no longer in contact with people, she becomes quite depressed and zapped of energy, and an unsure person. Some people may insult her due to her energy levels, and while she pretends that it doesn't bother her and will even joke about it, she's actually pretty insecure. She is motherly and caring, valuing bonds a lot, but she'd rather be around lots of people than one she dearly cares for. Either way, she has a big heart. She's always bound to come off as immature because of her hyper state, but she's pretty mature in actuality. She's also quite scientifically intelligent, with a dash of creativity, though again pretty much all of her will to do anything is zapped if she is away from others. If you offer to hang out with her, she'll most likely jump at the opportunity, but not if she feels as if she's done something wrong. She's not wasteful in the slightest, though isn't overly protective of nature which may be surprising. Also, as more people die, she will become more and more reclusive. Overall, she is an energetic bundle of scientific sunshine, but only if others are present.
I really like Hoshiko's character! It's very interesting and I love how quirky she is! The only issue I would have is with her not being very protective of nature, as seeing her Ultimate talent, she would kind of need to care for nature, otherwise she wouldn't have a talent haha! Otherwise, she's really original and I'd love to see how she responds to other characters!Appearance: Her skin is quite pale, and freckles are spread across her cheeks. Her teeth are slightly crooked with a front tooth gap, though she notes "Not enough to waste money on braces". She has dark brown eyes, and long lashes due to mascara. Her hair is straight with only a slight wave, and dyed ginger. She styles it into two (Somewhat sloppy) buns, with two locks of hair on each side of her head and loose bangs short hair choppily cut. She ties red ribbons into her buns, and inserts knitting needles into her hair - "In case anyone's clothes get ripped"! She has an average height and weight, standing quite straight. Her clothing consists of a tan sweater with a white lab coat that shows her former high school emblem along with a pen in the pocket, and a pink seashell necklace. She wears lacy white gloves with her nails being painted mint underneath. Her skirt has a stretchy waist and a black string tied into a bow, it being puffy and blue with wavy yellow lines, white and gold pearls and sparkles, and light yellow lace along the trim. Her Mary-Janes are very dark blue with a gold button, and she wears white socks. underneath her clothes is a navy blue wetsuit with the same silver school emblem on the same spot as her jacket. She often carries a lacy pink parasol with a stuffed octopus on top.
I adore her design! I love the colour scheme, it matches her talent, and the octopus parasol is adorable!!Sexuality: Bisexual
Backstory: Growing up as a kid, she was somewhat poor - her parents struggled to afford the bill. This lead to her fantasies of royalty and began to inhabit many interests, such as the Renaissance. Eventually, this only became an aesthetic for her to ogle pictures of, rather than a focus of any sort. At school, she was interested in learning as much as she could at school so that maybe she'd be able to help her family out of the hole it was in. She'd already begun to develop extroverted qualities. As soon as she became used to the amount of people at school, she found she could no longer be happy away from them. Her parents worked all the time, and she had no siblings, so she'd come home to an empty house.
At first it was just sadness, and then apathy, and then eventually escalated into a depressed state. She found that in this state she was unable to have the motivation to do anything, even find more people again. Thus, her parents became worried and spent more time near her. While this helped in the moment, it didn't in the long run. At school, she did begin getting more into science. In fact, she was incredible at it. Chemistry was her best subject for a good deal of time. For her tenth birthday, she visited an aquarium as a rare present. She didn't really appreciate the amount of space the fish had, but her interest in the species there skyrocketed. Chemistry, while still a good subject, took a backseat to Biology and became a past time.
She got more and more into Biology. Others supported her idea to become a marine biologist, so this became her 'dream'. By fourteen, she made quite the name for herself. She wanted a job as soon as possible so she could help her parents out. Thus, she put her talents to use. However, by this point her problem was bad. She couldn't even wake up by herself anymore. So she made sure that she worked around her coworkers every chance she had. Since her parents were away so often, she'd spend tons of time at work when she wasn't at school. Rarely did she find herself with a free hour. She'd even sleep there, often times, since everyone worked at different hours. However, she made numerous discoveries such as new attributes of a species, new behaviours and even new species themselves, gaining her fame in the biologists' world.
Not much later, her parents began to discuss a divorce. Hoshiko was not really glad to hear this news; they'd need to work more, and she wouldn't be able to spend time with both of them. When this actually went into action during her last year of high school, she was scouted by Hope's Peak as an escort for the Transfer Program as they felt her talents and discoveries in marine biology were enough to land her a spot in the school, as well as that she would do great at getting transfer students acclimated to the environment.
This is really interesting! I like the quirk of her being so attached to people, and the fact that she was always very scientifically minded and enjoyed chemistry and such is a good addition to her character!
