Name: Naoko Tachibana
Name meaning: Her first name Naoko means "honest child".
I like the meaning of her name, as well as her name!Age: 17 (In Neo World Program)
22 (Actual)Gender: Female
Nationality: Japanese
Personality: Naoko is not a very expressive person, as she displays hardly any emotion on her face at all, with the exception of the occasional smile and small giggle from time to time. She's also noted to be very quiet, as she is busy observing the people and things around her. She only ever speaks when reporting her observations. It's often due to this that she is very socially awkward so when people try to converse casually with her it can lead to her stammering and excusing herself from the conversation as soon as possible.
Along with Chiaki, she's one of the most level-headed students and doesn't lose her cool, even during heated moments, which is appreciated by nearly all her classmates during class trials when everyone is on edge. She's also an extremely honest person, to the point that her honesty can be cruel. Because of her brutal judgements on people, it is assumed by many (Hiyoko especially) that she thinks less of others and is envious of them. Pair that along with her social awkwardness, she doesn't have any friends.
I like her personality! I would like to maybe see her have one or two friends however haha, it seems that there would be a couple of people who would want to hang out with her!Appearance: Naoko has blue hair that reaches down to just below her bottom. She also has some bangs that fringe across her forehead. She has dark blue eyes and fair skin, taking on the appearance of a normal high school girl. Naoko wears a rib-cage patterned, light tan sweater-shirt with a black thermal underneath and black canvas shoes. She tends to dress plainly to avoid attention from other classmates so she can observe in peace.
I like her appearance! It's really interesting!Sexuality: Straight
Backstory: Naoko grew up in a normal household; she had two loving parents, but no siblings. She didn't mind the loneliness though, as she had her over-analytical observations ability to keep her busy. Her parents grew quite concerned of the lack of emotion she showed as a child and began taking her to doctors to see if she had a mental disorder, and they all gave the same answer; no, she is a normal, healthy child. One doctor they went to took note of her curious behaviour and logging of observations in her diary and told her parents the best answer to her lack of emotions is she likes to observe things and is so occupied by it that she doesn't think about showing emotions. After hearing that explanation, they noticed her observing behaviour and they were relieved.
In school, she liked to observe, and that's when she discovered her fondness of observing humans. Each human had an individual personality that made them unique, and despite their predictability with their personality, sometimes they reacted differently given the situation they were thrown in. Like, a survival instinct took over and they acted out of character to get out of the situation. Naoko found out that aspect about humans interesting and she sees if she can figure out why they are so unpredictable through her observations. She also found out that people didn't take it so kindly when she was being honest to them about them or about their friends, pointing out flaws in personalities and telling them what will happen to them if they don't fix it. Paired with her being busy with observing things, she became socially awkward and reserved, only speaking when necessary and giving out her observations.
One day, as a teenager, while getting ready to enrol herself into a high school her parents submitted some of her observation diaries to Hope's Peak Academy. The headmaster read her observations and predicted outcomes that were almost a hundred percent accurate to situations that she observed and declared her a prodigy child with her talent and sent a letter of acceptance to the family. She was shocked receiving the letter but did not get excited, as she just viewed it as another environment to observe in and more students to observe and take note of and that's how she got landed into Class 77-B of Hope's Peak Academy.
I like her backstory! It's really interesting that she was always like she is!Extra Information:
- She wishes to have a friend who doesn't mind her talent.
- She never told a single lie in her lifetime and doesn't plan on doing so at all.
- The reason she's so honest in her observations is "there's no point in lying on what you see in people and things."
- Her favourite things to observe are humans as they sometimes react out of character to their personality, making them unpredictable creatures.
- She logs all of her observations in her diary and often predicts outcomes to situations and writes them down to see if they come true or not.
- She likes chocolate.
- She has a black belt in judo.
- Her blood type is A.
- She favours neutral colours in order to blend in so she can observe in peace.
- Her birthday is December 21 and her zodiac is Capricorn.
- She is an only child.
I like that you added all this extra info, it makes her more real of a character!Talent: Ultimate Observer
Super High School Level ObserverReaction to seeing death: Naoko will probably be the calmest of all the students, taking a neutral expression and observing the crime scene, picking up all the clues she needs and also nitpicking for any small clues and details that will lead to the killer or to gain more information on the killing method and possible motivations.
I like this about her!Reaction to being accused of killing: If you are asking for public humiliation of you challenge Naoko. But, it is to be expected as she is the calmest of everyone and her easiness explaining the crime scene, laying out the evidence, and describing the method of killing can be unsettling to others, which makes her suspicious to other classmates. She wouldn't hold a grudge to anyone who dare try to accuse her of killing somebody, as she will then again lay out the evidence why she isn't the killer, making her rebuttal challenges from other classmates impossible to beat. And, same goes if she enters a rebuttal challenge with a classmate if she spots the flaw in their claim.
I really like this! It relates to Naoko's ability quite well and I don't usually see this kind of reaction in characters! How would they kill: Naoko was absolutely floored when Class 77-B befriended her, especially Chiaki, despite her social awkwardness and helped her overcome it. She treasures them deeply for that. Naoko may seem like the least likely person who would kill someone, but she will if anyone (even from Class 77-B) threaten the livelihood of her classmates. Naoko will take her victim down with a judo move that she knows and stab them quickly in the heart with a knife. She will drag the body and hide it somewhere (in a closet that no one really goes to) and dispose of the knife and clothes she wore when killing the person and clean up the blood on the floor. This will take place at night where not many students are up so the chance of getting caught is low. However, despite all her hard work on cleaning up the evidence, during the trial she will admit to her actions as again, she sees no purpose in lying and they will weed her out eventually so might as well admit to the fact of what she's done and avoid public humiliation for being caught lying.
I like this a lot! Her love for her class and the fact that she uses another talent she has to kill someone is really cool!Execution: Naoko's execution is called Observation Diary. Naoko finds a diary with somebody's observations in it. She picks it up and reads it, then realises its her diary filled with observations she made throughout the killing game. As she flips through it more, she finds an entry that she doesn't recognise. She reads it and realises that it's somebody finishing her diary by observing and recording her death. As she reads the author's observations, two ghostly hands reach out to her from behind and clasp around her eyes, gouging them out. She screams, blood tears flowing down her face as she's dragged quickly into the darkness, dropping the diary along the way. After a couple of moments, her screams are silenced and Monokuma, the recorder of her death, walks over to the dropped diary and picks it up, finishing the entry about her death and closes the diary while doing his signature laugh, seeing to it that not another human will lay eyes on the diary again.
This is really creepy but I absolutely love it. It's very Danganronpa!Overall, I really like Naoko's character and find her very original! I would like to see her have some friends, but other than that she's a really good OC!
