I love his name and the meaning behind it!

I like this!

Personality: Yuzuki is a dedicated and loyal male who tends to be lingy with his close friends. Unfortunately, Yuzuki has social anxiety, it's hard for him making eye contact or talking with new people, it usually frightens and causes him to panic which usually results in him and the people whom he had newly met, standing there awkwardly.
Since he came from a poor and humble household, Yuzuki has never taken anything or anyone for granted, he is really easy to fool which usually meant that when he was younger, he was bullied for his weak self and being a bit of an airhead, totally unaware of people who truly want to be his friends and those who only want to use him. Even though he has a very shy and introverted personality, he can be very competitive, he is not the best at sports or anything that includes using your stamina because of his skinny and small stature. But he will attempt to win over whatever you guys are competing for.
Yuzuki tends to stutter very badly, he's very self-conscious about not only that but his body structure as well. He gets emotional very easily, but amazingly is calm and collected when sailing, if a storm hit then he wouldn't be screaming or panicking except the exact opposite.
He would actually get angry and wouldn't be scared to even yell at you if you start panicking if a storm hit the ship. But still, a lot of the times Yuzuki is a soft-spoken and sweet boy.
I love his personality, it's much less cluttered that Melanthios'. I don't think Yuzuki is the type to get angry, however, as he seems more like, as you said, a 'soft-spoken and sweet boy'. Otherwise, he's a really nice character and I love him a lot!

Appearance: Yuzuki is shorter than an average fifteen year old male, standing at only 5'1 with a slender body but has more meat in his thighs and bottom, with tanned skin from working in the blazing sun, having a few scars here and there on his arms and legs.
His eyes are a round, doll-like shape that are a beautiful light ocean-blue colour, he wears a pair of sky blue trimmed glasses that are shaped into circles, giving off a cute and friendly look from the small male.
Yuzuki's hair is a light brown, a camel tan colour that falls around his shoulders, making him look like a girl, he usually puts his hair into a low and short ponytail. It's parted in the centre but usually messily rustled as if he had just woken up from falling asleep.
The male usually wears a white and royal blue coloured sailor's hat with a blue ribbon tied around, two long navy blue strings are let loose and have golden bells that hang from them, jingling every time he jumps up and down.
His outfit would be a large baby blue coloured hoodie with wool in the hood, keeping him warm in the winter. Underneath it is a plain white t-shirt so he could take off his hoodie if it's too hot. Over the hoodie is a turquoise coloured jacket that almost looks like a suit jacket with the sleeves being shorter than the hoodie's sleeves.
His pants are a thin pair of white jeans that stop slightly below the bottom of his shins and have black stripes down the sides, the bottom of his pants are trimmed black too. His shoes are a murky brown and green colour, with the bottom as grey and his socks are a bit taller than his shoes are grey too.
Once again, I adore his character design! It's very original and interesting, and I love that your didn't just give him a basic sailor's uniform! He's got a very original and interesting character design!

Backstory: The Shinkai family had come down from a long line of sailors, those who travelled far and long distances or found and discovered them too. But, unfortunately, the legacy had stopped when the great, great, great, great grandfather of Yuzuki, decided to change it, changing the family line forever.
That was until Yuzuki was born, his Father was an interior designer but his skills were unappreciated, his Mother ran a small cafe. His Father had always wanted to be a sailor but his Father never taught him, but he had managed to find documents and old papers of how the Shinkai family controlled and managed the boats.
When Yuzuki was born, his Father was overjoyed, he taught him from a very young age of three, even when Yuzuki was around two or one, he would play around with toy boats. By the time he was eleven, he was the top sailor in all of Japan, managing to go and come back from the South China Sea and East Indies, Eastern Mediterranean, the Black Sea, North Sea and the British Isles.
In fact, he had also brought along only fifteen crew mates and they all had survived because if Yuzuki. But, it wasn't all hope and prizes for the male. When he was in elementary, he would be constantly picked on, people saying he was an outsider because of his family's very limited wealth. So you can imagine how desperate Yuzuki was to get a friend but sadly, his first "friend" wasn't a friend at all. Instead, he was used and treated like a slave. This continued on until he actually did make a friend, a female by the name of Toshiko.
She explained to Yuzuki who was a true friend and who was not, they were such close friends that Yuzuki explained how he was attracted to boys and not girls. Toshiko accepted Yuzuki for who he was, he was extremely happy but not all tales have a happy ending. Toshiko had gotten cancer and she only had a few months to live.
When Yuzuki found out, he was devastated. Eventually, as a few months passed, Toshiko had also passed away. This led to Yuzuki becoming again the weak and helpless boy he was once again. Fortunately, Yuzuki has found a cure for his sadness. And it was sailing.
Sailing always used so much of Yuzuki's focus and takes his mind away from the depressing thoughts he would have. After getting over Toshiko's death, he would eventually become basically addicted to sailing every day. That's when Hope's Peak Academy recognised his achievements and accepted him in.
I really like his backstory. It's simple, heartfelt and very realistic! I think Toshiko's death instead of making him revert to his old self should be a changing point instead for him and make him grow up a little? That's just a minor minor thing, not important if you don't want to change it. Otherwise, he's got a really nice backstory!

Extra Info:
- He has a pet sea turtle named Sango.
- Occasionally helps out his mother in the cafe.
- Knows how to cook Chinese Cuisine.
- Tends to be picked on by Miu.
- Carries a wooden lucky charm shaped as a dolphin with him at all times.
- Is scared of dark rooms.
- Toshiko was actually the Ultimate/SHSL Peacemaker.
- Was originally going to be the Ultimate/SHSL Marine Biologist.
- He's a vegetarian.
- Yuzuki's almost lost an arm while battling a shark before.
I like his extra info, it makes him a more realistic character! I'd like to know what happened when he battled the shark haha!

Reaction to seeing death: There are two possible ways how it'll turn out. One is he'll feel faint at first, his mind would be spinning and he would throw up due to the shock he had received from looking at the body before passing out, falling to the ground. This will change to crying loudly since he eventually started to get used to how many deaths there were, but still be horrendously traumatised.
The second reaction is that he would scream at the top of his lungs, you may make fun of him for it but wouldn't you do the same if you saw a body? Yuzuki would try calling out for the others after screaming before puking...again.
This suits him!

Reaction to being accused of killing: Yuzuki would start stammering and tearing up, saying he didn't do it and he had proof but whenever he tries to point out all the proof that he didn't do it, he would break down halfway and cry even more, falling onto his knees and burying his tear stained face into his hands.

Overall, Yuzuki is a really intriguing character who I think is really well-planned and portrayed! I love his character design (again)!!
