Personality: Kaori is extremely curious, which can come across as rude and nosy towards others, and very intelligent. She has a photographic memory and can remember most things instantly if she wants to. She's practical, organised and sarcastic. She also swears a lot. Kaori is a direct and honest person to the point of it being blunt, however she knows how to tell people about their ear issues in a proper and friendly way. She has very little patience for people she dislikes and is done with them 24/7, resorting to violence sometimes. Kaori is very emotional and fierce, so she can be extremely reckless when blinded by rage. She is stubborn and holds grudges to the grave, which is mostly because of her good memory. Despite being a realist Kaori tries to make the best of every situation and is willing to give everyone a chance, but if you mess up it's next to impossible to regain her trust. She also appreciates the little things in life but darkness scares her. She has a soft spot for cute things and is really kind and patient towards children and those she truly cares for. Kaori is very selfless and would neglect her own feelings for the sake of her loved ones. If she's working she's very patient, but even when she's not at work she's really kind and understanding (until you get on her nerves).
I like her personality, it's got a healthy mix of good and bad points!

Appearance: Kaori is rather tall (1.80 = 5'11) and of average weight. She has straight crimson pink hair that's a bit messy and reaches just past her shoulders. She has steely blue eyes and medium skin. She wears a pastel blue button-up with the kanji for health on its left sleeve, a white lab coat with a red plus on its breast pocket, a black skirt with white trims, white knee-high socks and black sneakers. She has a hearing aid for her left ear, black-rimmed glasses and two hairpins, a pastel blue and a white one that both have a small red plus on them, to pin her hair back so it hides her hearing aid. There are multiple pens on the pockets of her lab coat.
I love her character design!  It suits her well, and surprisingly I don't see many characters with red hair in the DR universe so it's very original!

Sexuality: Bisexual

Backstory: Kaori is an only child and because of that she felt lonely at home from time to time so she became quite the social butterfly and made a lot of friends. She had a lot of younger cousins whom she always watched over and thus she became quite good at dealing with children.
When she was four years old Kaori started having trouble with hearing and thus she went to the hospital to visit an ENT doctor who told her she'd need tubes in her her eardrums, this was repeated when she was five, in between the treatments she had a lot of ear infections.
When she was six the tubes didn't work anymore and were removed so her eardrums could heal properly. Kaori was told that she was imagining having trouble hearing again since there was nothing wrong. She insisted that she really had trouble hearing but the ENT doctor kept telling her it was nothing and she probably had another ear infection. Kaori's parents decided to believe the doctor, he was the specialist after all.
A year later Kaori woke up and couldn't hear anything. She was terrified and told her parents, screaming while doing so because she couldn't hear herself either. They took her to another hospital right away and she was diagnosed with two perforated eardrums which were caused by ear infections. The doctors told her it was impossible to repair the damage of her right ear because the hole had been too long in her eardrum and could only repair it to avoid nasty infections in her inner ear, her ability to hear with her left ear could be saved but they didn't know how much she would be able to hear again even with a hearing aid. After the surgery Kaori could hear a bit with her left ear again, and could almost hear normally with that ear if she wore her hearing aid, but her right ear remained deaf.
After that Kaori started studying everything that had to do with the ears and hearing problems because she didn't want people to suffer the same fate as her. When she was twelve she started medical school. Her teachers and fellow students thought that she was too young but Kaori proved to be an excellent student and future otologist right away, which resulted in giving her the title of Ultimate Otologist later on. When she was fourteen she was diagnosed with a genetic defect that made her extremely vulnerable to ear infections and thus perforated eardrums while also reducing her ability to hear at a faster pace than normal. While studying Kaori had two more punctured eardrums, which required surgery, and multiple ear infections.
I love her backstory!  It's very practical to how she got her talent and I really like it!

Extra Info: She hides her hearing aid with her hair because she doesn't want pity. She believes she can still live her life despite her hearing loss. She tells those close to her about her issue though.
She always has an otoscope with her.
She only accepts an apology if someone changes their behaviour.
She can't swim underwater because the water puts too much pressure on her eardrums, even though she has special earbuds to prevent water from getting in her ears.
She doesn't have a fear of darkness because of bad experiences, but because darkness makes her extremely vulnerable, since she can't hear well and thus is forced to rely on her eyes a lot.
She has this little quirk of sometimes repeating words in they're not used in a long sentence. For example she often says 'It's fine, it's fine', 'yes, yes' or 'alright, alright'.
These suit her!

Reaction to seeing death: When she sees the body she will be shocked, then she'll start looking around angrily and asking who did it, even accusing people she dislikes without any evidence, when no one admits it she starts rambling/yelling about how the killer is a horrible person and how they deserve to be executed, still with her angry expression. After she's calmed down she starts investigating, still cursing the culprit under her breath.
This suits her personality!

Reaction to being accused of killing: If its just once she'll give them a death stare and bluntly say it isn't her while trying to break through their reasoning with facts. The second time she'll be incredibly irritated and start accusing them of the murder, even if they have an alibi. If it happens again she's just done and starts shouting every fact she remembers about things that were going on when the murder occurred in a very angry way. After the trial those who believed she was the culprit will have to deal with an angry Kaori for a long time.
I like that she holds a grudge after the trial, it suits her personality and I don't see this a lot in other OC's!

How would they kill: Kaori is someone who would kill in blind rage so it wouldn't be planned, thus I imagine her hitting the victim with an object (kinda like Owada in Trigger Happy Havoc), if there was no object nearby she would strangle them, which would be possible in most cases since she's so tall.
I like this!

Execution: I'm working on her execution. It will definitely be in a dark place though.

Overall I really like Kaori's character!  She's very memorable and interesting and I would love to see how she reacts to other people and events in her story!
