Name: Akkai Matuo
I like the name!Age: 16
Gender: Male
Nationality: Japanese
Personality: Akkai is the complete opposite of what someone would expect a hacker to be; he's energetic, but he's also really extroverted and cocky of his skills, going so far as to aim to become the Ultimate everything. Before you think he may be OP, he's overconfident in the abilities he does and doesn't have, so most of the ultimates that he aims for on his list are crossed out, but that doesn't stop him from trying! At first, he can be seen as rude and annoying due to his cocky nature and determination to be better, but once you hand around him more despite his personality, he's actually a really nice guy who just wants to make his mark on the world and make a name for himself, that's all. It's just how he's doing it that's the problem.
I love his personality! It's a very original take on the talent and I love his ambition! He's well-balanced and interesting!Appearance: He wears a black leather vest that's long sleeved and outlined with gold and also are the buttons for it. His vest is mainly unbuttoned, so his white undershirt is revealed under it at all times. He also wears black jeans that have gold lining, which he keeps from slipping with a brown leather belt. He has black leather shoes with white socks, of course, but the shoelaces are also white. He has a skinny pale body and his height is 5'7. He has blue eyes. He wears a black baseball cap with white stripes on it that covers only partially his biggest and most outstanding feature; his very big and long spiky hair. Most people comment how his hair looks sort of like Raditz's hair or Super Sayan 3 hair, so people usually joke about it by calling him Raditz, or Radish, which he hates a lot.
Loooove it! My only question is where did he get gold-lined jeans and where can I get them? His spiky hair sounds very DR protagonisty but from looking at pictures of Raditz I feel like it's even better!Sexuality: Heterosexual
Ultimate/SHSL talent: Ultimate Hacker
Backstory: Akkai lived a normal life with his kind and caring parents. His Father was a mechanic and his Mum was a programmer, which explains how his talent is related to technology. Instead of buying toys, they made him toys for their only child, making a deep bond with his parents. The toys were mostly robots and remote controlled as well. At age six his parents figured that their child should learn their skills to continue a legacy of their own, so he learned a combination of programming and mechanics. They saw how quickly he learned their skills, which he became very proud of, and so were his parents.
After that, he decided he'll make his family name popular to the world for them, as his kind of thank you to them. He went through school life casually up until high school, where a tragic event occurred. You see, up at elementary school, he made a friend named Jepp, who had the same interests as Akkai did and quickly became friends. They attended elementary school, middle school and high school together. They often hung out at each other's houses, just to show how deep of a bond they have. However, there was just one thing that seperated the two: the killing game. Jepp was a huge fan of the show, but Akkai was heavily against a show about betrayal and blood, but they managed to put aside that difference for their friendship. One day, there was a talent show the school was hosting, and whoever the judges liked the most was was declared an ultimate. Jepp quickly joined, but Akkai stayed out of it because, in Akkai's own words, "Don't want to dominate the competition."
During the days between the show, Jepp kept what he was planning a secret to Akkai, which Akkai agreed to let him do, and supported him. At the night of the talent show, Akkai stood behind the curtains with Jepp and watched him pull out his creation for the show. When the blanket was removed, what was under it shocked Akkai.
Jepp's machine that he made was a Monokuma robot, getting the judges interests. Akkai grew paranoid about the Monokuma robot, believing if it's still around, it could encourage a mass production and break the killing game, bringing it to reality. Determined to stop his nightmare from coming true, he climbed up to the roof by going up the staircase and sat next to a window, seeing the talent show under him. He took out his laptop and began to hack the Monokuma bot during a knife juggling trick it was doing, which was Jepp's idea. He hacked the bot to where it stopped juggling the knives and used them to continuously stab itself until it stopped functioning. Jepp was heartbroken as he ran to the broken robot and looked at his failure.
Akkai believed he did something good momentarily before he witnessed the scene that would scar him for life; Jepp took one of the knives and stabbed himself in the heart, killing himself in the process. The crowd was wild in fear and shock as they all ran out, calling for help. Akkai was shocked emotionally as he witnessed the scene and was frozen for a few seconds. After that, he got up and snuck his way out of the school to the woods and cried intensely, blaming himself for his childhood friend's death. He managed to get back home after he stopped crying and hid any marks of tears from his parents all day. After that night, Akkai grew to hate his skills, believing he's a murderer, but hid that fact from his parents to keep them happy. When he got back to school, he had now grown an intense hate for the killing game, now proudly calling himself better than everyone in his school. His newfound confidence brought the same judges' interest in him.
He knew that to make a great impression, he had to use the same skill that he despised the most; hacking. He showed the judges' his hacking skills as he hacked into everyone's emails and computers at once through his laptop, earning him the title 'Ultimate hacker'.
I like his backstory. The only issue I would have is Jepp's death, as it seems quite random and out of place for that sort of thing to happen in front of everyone. Perhaps instead when Akkai hacks into the Monokuma, it malfunctions, but not in the way he's expecting and a rogue knife kills Jepp instead? From his personality, he comes off as a very sociable person, so I think that maybe his power complex (him thinking he's better than others) is a bit out of place too. Possibly he could brag a lot to his friends instead? I like that he grew to hate his talent but was still accepted as an Ultimate for it, and his character arc with Jebb is really interesting! I see Akkai is in DRV3's world, and I love that you took the time to actually dig into the lore and make sure it all made sense, bringing up the killing games and all!
