Chapter 54

Leah:

Everything happened so fast and I had no time to stop it. I felt so bad for him and I was blaming myself. If only I hadn't come back to Ohio this wouldn't have happened. I saw him lying on the ground as I was running towards him. I grabbed him and put his head on my lap an I was stroking his hair. His hair was brown, long and so soft and I don't want to lose him. I love him too much to lose him. "Colby,you're gonna be okay. I promise!" I was crying so hard that I couldn't breathe. He was trying to grasp for air and I was still crying. Holding on to his hand and hoping that he would be okay. Jenny shot him in the side of the stomach because at the last minute my dad tried to push Colby but Colby pushed back. My dad was blaming himself for everything. I looked at him with my big red puffy eyes. "Dad....it..it wasn't....your fault." I was trying to say without crying. He stopped and looked at me. "Leah please don't right now. I'm just sorry that Colby got hurt. I'm sorry." He was saying that as he was crying. But luckily enough the ambulance got there in time. They were rushing over to Colby first. They got him on a stretcher and wheeled him to the ambulance. I saw the other people went over to Jenny. I shot her in both of her legs. I didn't mean to aim it there. I meant to kill her. I know that sounds harsh but she's made my best friend feel like this,she's almost killed me a million times and now I don't know if Colby is going to stay alive. I ran with the EMT's to the ambulance with Colby. I jumped in and sat down quickly. I held his hand and was crying at the same time. "Okay let's get an IV in him and oxygen, stat!" One of the nurses yelled. "Come on Colby! Stay with me please....please...I need you in my life. I love you so much Colby. Just please fight....please." I kept on trailing off and crying. I bowed my head and started to pray to God. As I bowed my head I saw my hands. They had Colby's blood on it. I started to cry even more. I can't lose him, he's my everything and I love him. Colby's eyes opened and looked at me but they looked like he was about to pass out. "Leah?" He said and I was crying. "Yeah...I'm right here!" I held on to his hand even more. "Leah, you're the perfect girlfriend. If I die go find someone else. Okay but please don't forget. I love you so much." As he said that he blacked out. "Colby? COLBY!!" I cried so much. "Ma'am? Are you his girlfriend?" I looked at her. "Yes,why?" She smiled at me and said "He's going to be okay. I promise." I smiled back and her and then turned back to Colby.

We finally reached the hospital. The nurses were going everywhere. They immediately took Colby out of the ambulance and they started to rush inside. I was right beside him running. As they were about to go through these two doors when I was pulled aside. "We can't have you back here." The nurse said as she was holding me back. "No! I have to be with him! He needs me!" I started to thrash to get back there. But the nurse called security. Two men behind me grabbed me and handcuffed me. I just fell down and started to cry.

Grace:

Once Colby and Leah left me and Sam raced it to my car. Sam drove because I was still shaken up. Sam drove away immediately. I was trying to get my mind off but I couldn't. I felt a hand interlock with mine. "It's going to be okay I promise." He said with a smile but I could tell that he was trying not to cry. I mean I would too if that were Leah because she's like my sister. Sam drove quick to get to the hospital. When we got there we ran inside searching for Leah. We looked around and saw Leah. Sitting by herself with handcuffs on and crying. I ran over to her and made sure she was alright. "Leah? Are you okay?" She didn't answer me but just kept on looking down at her hands. "Leah?" She had a tear running down her cheek. "I...I could've stopped all of this from happening. I'm so sorry." She raised her head and looked at me. She had tears running down her cheeks bad. "Hey, it's okay. It's not your fault. It's Jenny's but she's going to jail now." She dropped her head after I said that. We didn't talk for a minute. "Hey! Where are the security guards?" The nurse looked at me and pointed towards the doors. "Excuse me? Can we please get her out of these cuffs?" The security guard came over. "I'm sorry we can't. It's what the law says. Plus she hit my partner in the face." I turned back to Leah. "She didn't mean it? Her boyfriend was just shot. She couldn't help it. She's been through a lot recently." The officer just looked at me and rolled his eyes. "My partner has a black eye because of her. Now, it is final. We aren't getting the handcuffs off." I was so mad but turned around and walked back. Leah still had her head bowed down and crying. I felt so bad about what had happened and I felt so frustrated at everything. I sat down by Leah and hugged her and she leaned on me. She stayed still for a little bit and then she started to kind of shake. Like when someones laughing they like feeling like they are shaking. I looked at her and she was sobbing and I felt so bad. But I hugged her even more and she leaned her head on my shoulder. "I'm sorry," I said in the most possible quietest voice ever.

Sam:

I didn't know what was going on at the moment. All I know is that once we walk in Leah is cuffed and she is sobbing. Grace talks to her for a little bit and then goes over to the police officer and talks to him. I sit next to Leah and try to talk to her. "Hey, Colby is a fighting guy and when he has someone like you in his life, he isn't gonna stop fighting." She looked up to me. Her eyes were red and looked swollen. "I know he's a fighter. But he's not just fighting for me, he's fighting for his parents, everybody and most importantly you. Sam, he really cares about you and he doesn't wanna lose you either. He talks about you all the time and I don't understand how much he cares for you. But all I know is that he cares a lot about you and I'm glad Colby has a friend like you." I just stared at her a while she fake smiled. Her head went down again and she started to softly cry. Grace came back and she looked mad but changed quickly. I moved to the other seat so then Grace could sit by Leah. Leah leaned her head on Grace's shoulder and then started to cry. Leah cried for about a minute and then stopped because she fell asleep. Grace looked at me and said, "Are you okay?" I looked at her with a smile and then said "Yeah, I'm fine. Colby's strong." She smiled and then I took her hand in mine. She leaned her head on my shoulder and then fell asleep. I fell asleep as well for a little bit. Until I had a bad dream. I looked around and Leah has gotten up and was walking around. Not like a crazy person but like she was looking around to see if any doctors were around. The officers finally took off the cuffs. I let out a deep but long sigh.

Leah:

I fell asleep on Grace's shoulder and I looked around to remember what was going on. I didn't sleep that long. I looked over and saw Grace on Sam's shoulder and they both were passed out. I got up and went over to the officer to talk to him. "Hey officer, I'm really sorry about thrashing and hitting your partner in the face and giving him a bruise on his face. I am terribly sorry, can I get these cuffs off please?" I said in the most quietest tone ever. He rolled his eyes and then took off the cuffs. It didn't even exciting to get them off, it didn't really feel like anything. Like yeah I mean my wrist hurt because of me trying to get the cuffs off. But it's a whatever. I was just pacing now because I was waiting for Colby to come back out of surgery. It's only been like an hour or so. After I pasted the doors that led into the surgery room I sat down. I noticed that Sam was awake and he couldn't sleep. I felt so bad for him because they are like best friends. About 15 minutes later a doctor came out to talk to us about Colby. "Well he's stable but he's not awake. He's very tired and we won't be awake for a little while. You're more than welcome to visit." I smiled and then said "Thank you!"
