Chapter 59

Leah:

I was so excited to marry Colby. I had gotten up before Colby and wrote him a note before I left. I was leaving to go hang out with Katy today. Gosh I haven't seen her in a long time. Her and Corey went on a 2 week worth trip. I finally get to hang out with her and tell her the news. I headed to the Mall where I was going to meet her. I met her at Guava Hut. It's a really good pastry and coffee shop. I saw her and ran up to her.
"Heyyyyyyy!"
She hugged me really tight.
"Heyyy! How ya doin'?"
I smiled and then showed her the ring. She gasped and then awed. She gave me another hug.
"Hey I'm kind of hungry. Wanna order?"
She shook her yes. I went up and already knew what I was getting. I used to eat here with Grace all the time after school. It was like our thing that we always did.
"I'll have a turtle iced coffee grande with a caramel puff please."
The cashier rung me up.
"Total is $6.34, ma'am."
It was a young boy too, around my age. He kept on smiling at me. I think he was just being nice. I handed him 7 dollars.
"And .66 is your change back! Have a good day!"
"Thank and you too!"
Katy ordered a hot chocolate with some chocolate chip cookies. My order was done before her because I had ordered before her. I went to the second floor where it was kind of like a loft with books and a lot of couches and chairs. Then there was a almost love seat couch but not really. It had the arm rest just not the big back cushion thing. So we at a couch that was leather. Nobody ever comes up to the second floor. They are just too lazy to walk a flight of stairs. I put a coaster under my coffee cup so then it wouldn't leave a mark from the condensation of the cup.
"Sooooo tell me all about the trip! Was it fun!"
"Oh yeah it was fun, loads! We went to this one place there and they had a festival. The citizens were all dressed up and they danced around a fire. Me and Corey went to check it out to see what was happening and we got pulled in. It was so much fun."
They went to Africa. Corey thought it would be fun.
"I'm so glad to hear you guys had fun!"
I drank some of my coffee and ate some of my caramel puff.
"Sooo whens the wedding!?"
I smiled and then raised my eyebrows.
"Umm we don't really know yet. We haven't really thought about it. We just proposed a couple weeks ago. It was in my birthday."
"Oh geez. You guys need to get your lives under control. You guys are getting married and you guys don't know after almost a month. Do your parents know yet?"
I shook my head no.
"Geez Leah! You have to tell them!"
"Yeah I know. Me and Colby have just been busy with getting our money under control and um possibly moving back to California?"
I said trying to ease the tension of the last statement. Katy gasped as she stopped eating and looked at me.
"Are you kidding? You're just going to leave your family here? You're going to leave me and Grace here?"
I gasped at the last statement as well.
"You guys aren't moving back to Cali with us?"
She shook her head no.
"But what about your house you live in at California or what about Corey's?"
"Leah I don't live in a grand house like you. I live in an apartment. And yeah I'm going to miss living there but me and Corey both fell back in love with Ohio's landscape the beautiful architecture. Where in LA all you get are grumpy neighbors and bad apartments. I wanna live somewhere where it makes me happy living there. Does that make sense?"
I thought about it and then shook my head yes.
"Katy all I'm saying is that we might move back after we get married. This is Colby's first time in Ohio, a new place. He hasn't gotten used to it yet okay. I know we've been here a long time too. And I love Ohio more than LA and I don't want to move. But I realized after you said to live somewhere where you like or makes you happy where you're living. That mean if Colby wants to move I have to move with him because he's what makes me happy. Does that make any sense?"
I say asking in a concerned tone. She shook her head yes too.
"It's your life Leah, and I get it you love Colby a lot and don't want to lose him. And I'm not saying to not marry him because he wants to move and you don't. I just want you to be this happy as you are now."
I felt like we are in like that one scene in a movie where it's like really meaningful part.
"I know, I know. But I'm going to try and convince him to stay here. If I don't then we move."
I try saying in a positive attitude. Katy just looks at me and I see a tear forming in her eye a little bit. I open my arms up. She scoots over and hugs me but doesn't cry.
"I just don't want to lose you like I lost Grace. I can't be alive and do exotic and stupid stuff without you or Grace. You guys just make me feel alive."
"I'm sorry but if I do move I'll be sure to come back and visit."
She releases me from the hug.
"Okay enough of this sad and sappy stuff. Let's get this stuff to-go and then go to the mall. Okay?"
Katy smiled and nodded yes.
We left and headed to the mall. We drove separate because Katy needed to go somewhere today and didn't want the trouble of me driving her back to Juava Hut. As I was driving to the mall I kept on thinking on what we both had said at Juava Hut. I don't want to move but I have a big house there, I have a restaurant and I have a life there. I moved to California to get a fresh start in the first place. I don't want to move back to Ohio but to I also don't want to leave my family and Katy and possibly Grace here. God why is being an adult and making your own decisions so hard. I have to talk to Colby tonight about telling my parents, planning the wedding and about where we are staying or moving. I reached the mall with Katy right behind me. I got out and we met in the middle of the parking lot. Then we both walked in together.

^ I'm just going to like skip the mall time because all they did was look around and buy nothing.^

"Shoot I have to leave. Thanks for today Leah. Bye! Love ya!"
As she was walking away.
"Any time! Bye love ya too!"
I decided to go back into the mall and get some Cinnabon rolls. As I was turning around in a bumped into someone. It was a guy and we both fell down.
"I am so sorry sir. Are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine. Are you?"
He had a deep but soothing voice.
"Yeah I'm okay. Have a good day."
I said getting up. I didn't really bother to help him up because I didn't know him and he had gotten up on his self. As he was getting up I looked in the corner of my eye. He didn't exit the mall but followed me. I had gotten on my phone and called Colby.
"Hey what's up babe?"
"Colby I'm at the mall can you please come. I think there's this dude following me."
"Yeah sure go to the Cinnabon store wait there. If he follows you there as well then head to the girls bathroom beside Subway. Okay?"
"Okay. See you soon. Bye love you."
"Love you too."
I hung up and headed there. Good thing I was already going to get some cinnamon rolls. I went there and there was no line. I went straight up and ordered a dozen of them. As I was waiting I looked around for him but didn't see him. So I sat down and ate 2 of the Cinnabon rolls. About 10 minutes later a man approaches me.
"Hey is this seat taken?"
I know that voice. It was the dude I had ran into.
"Umm yes actually by my fiancé. He had to go the bathroom."
He raised an eyebrow.
"Now I didn't see a man sitting there a couple minutes ago. I think you're here by yourself."
"Can you please leave sir? My fiancé will be back."
I say trying not to sound scared. The man was about to sit down when Colby showed up.
"Excuse me I believe this is mine?"
"Colby!"
The man rolls his eyes and then leaves.
"Hey you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine. Just a bit jumpy that's all. Wanna leave?"
"Sure I'll walk you to your car."
I got up and was still kind of shaking. Colby noticed and grabbed my hand. Get squeezed it like a beating heart. To comfort me and to stop the shaking.
"You sure you're okay?"
"Yeah I am I'm just shaken up because it felt like another Jenny problem again and I didn't want the to happen again. Thank for you came."
I said grabbing onto his arm and holding it tight.
"It okay. I'm sorry about all of this."
"Hey Colby? Can I ask you something?"
"Mhm what it is?"
"Can we go and tell my parents about our engagement?"
Colby looked down at me and smiled.
"Sure!"
I hugged him tighter. We got to my car.
"Meet me at my parents house okay?"
He nodded his head. We gave me a hug and a short kiss. Then got into his car next to me. Off to my parents house.
