The vampire glanced in amazement, "I can't believe it. What he said was true... To think this happen after 4 years." Akane held the little girl's hand tightly, "What do you mean?" He ignored her question and demanded, "Give me the girl, you won't have enough power to fight a vampire." Akane replied, "I won't. She is just an innocent girl." The vampire chuckled, "Innocent? Aren't all livestock innocent?" Akane stepped back a little, "Obice Lucem." This time, the barrier got brighter and warmer. The vampire chuckled, "How cute. I'll let you take the girl this time. However, the next time, I'll make sure that you'd also be my livestock. See you soon, little witch." He warned as he disappeared from their sight.
With the vampire gone, Akane heaved a sigh of relief. She turned back and bend down so that she was face to face with the little girl, "You shouldn't be out here. It's dangerous." The little girl kept silent. Akane paused, knowing that she was being too harsh on a little girl. She patted the little's girl's head, "That was scary, wasn't it? Are you alright?" The girl started to bawl but she still nodded. Akane hugged her, "It's okay... He's gone now..." She comforted.
When the girl had calmed down, Akane placed a hand in front of the girl's eyes, there was nothing. She was a little disappointed but still asked in a gentle tone, "Shall we bring you home now?" The little girl's face lit up almost immediately. So innocent. Akane giggled.
As they were walking, Akane felt a pull on her attire, she turned and saw that the girl was squeezing the white cloth that she was wearing. Somehow, she felt warmed by this little action. as the girl lead her, she managed to reach the doorsteps of the house. "Is this it?" The girl nodded. She smiled, "Be careful the next time, okay?" The little girl suddenly gave her a hug with her little arms. Akane surprised at first, reciprocated. "Thank... You." The girl stuttered. The door opened and she went back to her parents who were thanking Akane profusely.
Akane turned and looked up at the sky, "Teacher, I managed to save a little girl today. That warm she gave me reminded me of Ako... Although I couldn't save Ako, I'm glad I can save this girl today." She smiled bitterly as she said.
